Chapter 49

ALIYAH’S POV

I made my way downstairs, taking it slowly so I could be sure to keep our baby safe. My hand reached my stomach, and I struggle to keep a smile from bursting forth every time I thought about our little one inside my womb.

My joy did not even slightly fade away. Thinking that I would give birth to a baby and we would have a complete family in just a few months, I could feel the joy pulsing through my veins.

I’d be able to hold our baby in my arms… I could not wait to shower our child with unconditional love, k****s, and my everything.

I promised that I’d give my best to our baby… and at the same time, become the best partner I could be for Reid.

“Aliyah!”

My eyes followed the familiar voice of a woman and saw Charlotte, who had just walked into the pack house. I carefully walked towards her, my chest being welled by positive emotions that I ended up crying in front of her.

“Charlotte, do you… do you know that I’m pregnant?” I asked.

Her eyes radiated with delight. “Oh, Reid already told you!”

I nodded as I sobbed in joy.

She caressed my hair and eyed me happily. “I already found out when you went to the clinic the last time.” She giggled and then pulled me into a hug. “Congratulations. You and Reid will become parents sooner.”

I chuckled and wiped my tears as we both pulled away.

“But why didn’t you tell me?” I asked curiously.

“Oh, that’s because I wanted Reid to tell you first, and I just thought it might sound more romantic if you heard it first from your mate,” she said truthfully and then winked at me.

I couldn’t help but laugh at Charlotte’s reason as to why she decided not to tell me about it, but she had a point. I was so happy that I was able to hear the news from Reid first.

“Thank you, Charlotte.”

“I’m so happy for you and Reid, Aliyah.” She then narrowed her eyes while looking at me. “Don’t forget to take the vitamins I prescribed for you. Balance your day from now on. You should have plenty of sleep, a balanced diet, and exercise. Avoid stressing yourself because your baby will feel it.”

I nodded at her. “I will keep that in my mind, Charlotte.”

She wiggled her eyebrows and gave me a malicious smile. “S*x is fine though….”

My cheeks reddened at what she said. I cupped my face and could only give her a shy smile. She laughed out loud and was only interrupted when Klaus, Ellie and Dustin arrived.

“You seem to be having a good conversation, huh?” Klaus commented with a smirk.

“Oh, we do until you came.” Charlotte rolled her eyes at him.

I shook my head, smiled, and glanced over at Ellie and Dustin. They were watching us carefully and seemingly trying to behave as much as they could. I glanced back at Klaus and poked his arm to get his attention.

“Uhm, how were they at school?” I asked.

He cocked his head to the side. “Honestly, I’m shocked that they actually behaved in school. They act like they are done being goddamn brutes.”

“Klaus, language!” Charlotte hissed at him.

He just shrugged. “Well, I’m done being their nanny for today.”

Klaus walked upstairs as he’d probably want to take a rest. Charlotte then tapped my shoulder, and informed me that she’d go into the kitchen. I only nodded at her before I drew my attention to the kids.

“Did you have fun at school?” I carefully asked them.

Ellie breathed in heavily and looked up at me, with guilt evident in her eyes.

“Y—Yeah…” she replied.

Dustin let out a sigh. “We… uhm, we are sorry for everything we’ve done.”

I gasped. I didn’t expect those words to come out of his mouth, so I was caught off guard.

“We’re sorry, Aliyah…” Ellie added. “We won’t do bad things ever again…”

Relief washed through me. Seconds later, I found ourselves smiling at each other. I ruffled their hair to break the awkwardness.

“Don’t worry, I’m not mad at both of you,” I said as I let out a sigh. “But you have to apologize to the Alpha. Are we clear on this?”

“Yes,” they both answered in chorus.

“Perfect!” I caressed Ellie’s soft cheek and continued, “You can go to your room now to change your clothes and rest for a bit. I’ll call you right up once dinner is ready.”

“Thank you, Aliyah!”

My gaze followed them as they rushed upstairs. It was unexpected to turn things like this knowing how they had behaved for the past few days, but I was glad that they finally realized their mistake. It only added to my happiness.

Smiling, I went to the kitchen to cook food for dinner. While I busied myself with making seafood dishes, I felt a hot breath on my neck. I was so immersed in cooking that I didn’t notice that Reid had finally arrived home.

His arms were wrapped around my waist and his head was buried in my neck. It gave me a ticklish feeling that I couldn’t stop giggling.

“Stop it, Reid. I’m cooking,” I said as I bit my lower l*p.

“You smell so good. I can’t help it,” he replied in his hoarse voice, which sent me all too familiar warmth all the way down to my groin.

He kissed my neck, which added to the desire building up in my body.

“Reid…” I said, trying to warn him.

He only chuckled and released me afterward. “Fine, later.”

I rolled my eyes and continued what I was doing while he just sat on the side watching me.

“How’s the meeting with the elders?” I asked curiously after putting the meat in the pot.

“It went well. They are satisfied with my decision,” he replied proudly.

“That’s great! I can’t wait to welcome the new members of the pack.”

Reid took my hand and kissed the back of it. “I know that you’re excited to meet them, but we have to prepare for a more important event that will happen this week, Aliyah.”

My brow furrowed at his statement. “What is it?”

He breathed in heavily as he stood up and stared down at me intently. All sorts of questions whirled around my head when he fell silent for a brief moment. I could see the admiration behind his eyes, and it made my heart race.

Swallowing hard, I held his arm and asked again, “What event are we expecting this week?”

Reid cupped my face with care. I must say that I like how he made me feel at this point. He made me feel like a unique lady, as if his eyes were just designed to gaze at me.

With him around, I always felt so appreciated, wanted, and safe. I would never trade this particular moment for anything else.

But still, I was still curious about what he said.

“Reid?”

He was amused. The next thing I knew, he was kneeling in front of me, and I could do nothing but gasp and stare at him with my eyes wide open. When he pulled a small box from his pocket, my heart began to beat rapidly, and by the time he opened it, I had already cried.

“I intend to perform our unification this week. But first, I must ask you, my love…” He took a deep breath and gazed up at me with love and hope emanating from his eyes. “Would you be willing to become my wife and Luna?”
