The Twin Alphas’ Fated Mate -
Chapter 9
ROSE'S POV
Sitting in my room and reading a plan that could make or mar my people.
Reading in the dark when everyone else was sleeping.
Scanning through papers like I was the one who will get the benefits of this plan when Alpha King Josh accepts it.
I hoped he wouldn't accept this because as I read, I found a lot of loopholes yet I prayed to the moon goddess that he would accept the plan because I didn't want my pack to suffer. "How could Dad do this? He said he will help you get away from Alpha Richard when he gets our pack back in order but he went behind your back to sign that piece of shitty paper?"
Cali exclaimed angrily, reminding me of what happened hours ago in Alpha Richard's office. I was mad at my father for putting me in this position.
He has sold us all out to Alpha Richard.
Perhaps I should rewind a little.
Some hours ago, Alpha Richard said to me, "There is more, my darling Rose."
I stared back at him in fear.
"You might think it's impossible to take over your pack and make your members my slaves or laborers but it's possible with this."
Alpha Richard said and threw another paper at me. I picked it up with shaky hands and discovered that he wasn't joking.
And it was all my father's fault.
Alpha Richard explained as my eyes scanned the content of the letter, "Your father and I agreed that if by the fourth year of our alliance, the Howling Wolves pack hasn't improved economically and in other aspects, will have the right to take over the pack if I want to. He signed that paper, Rose."
"In short, if I submit this petition to the Alpha King along with this agreement, your people will become my slaves and I will turn your precious pack into a slum where all Silver Moon waste will be dumped." Alpha Richard added.
"Why are you going this far, Alpha Richard?"
I had asked him with tears in my eyes and he laughed evilly, saying, "I just have to remind you that even if you whore around, I own you and your life is in my palms."
He owned me... he was in charge of my life and even now as I tried to memorize the plans, I knew that there was no hope of escaping.
"Perhaps we should stop making sacrifices. It's draining and killing your dreams."
Cali lamented but it was too late to stop. After giving three years of my life to this course, I might as well fight to the end.
"Perhaps I should get some rest. I won't want to look like a zombie while presenting this plan to the Alpha King in the morning."
I said to my wolf beast and she dejectedly reclined to the back of my mind. I stayed up for a few more hours, fixing the loopholes in the plan just like my mom and I used to do back in the days of Howling Wolves Pack prosperity. "I miss you, Mom..."
I whispered, giving myself to sleep. I needed to be up in three hours but the thoughts of my mom made it possible for me to have a good rest...
*******
Hours later, under the brightness of the morning, Alpha Richard and I arrived at the Alpha King's home.
Apparently, Alpha Richard was able to fix an appointment with the Alpha King while I read the plan. Alpha Josh accepted to review the plans if I would be presenting them to him.
And Alpha Richard accepted the term... obviously.
"The future of your people is in your hands- no, it's in my hands actually. Do well to present the plans well or you will-"
"You don't have to threaten me. I will do what I have to do."
I cut in with a straight face. Alpha Richard was pleased, seeing that he had tamed me and we both exited the car, strolling to the entrance of the Alpha King's home. I had mixed feelings about this venue.
I was happy I didn't have to go to Alpha King Josh's office because I didn't want to face the crowd that would be there. However, I would have preferred his office to his home because the royal mansion was tainted with memories of my sinful pleasure. "Alpha Richard, Welcome. Welcome, Luna Rose."
The same werewolf that sent us back from the Alpha King's office yesterday, greeted Alpha Richard and me and I swear to the goddess, that was the first time someone addressed me as a Luna.
I had never felt like a Luna and no one treated me like I was a Luna.
Alpha Richard responded, "Thank you very much, Eric. it's good to see you today. If you may, kindly lead us to the Alpha King."
Eric smiled stiffly and said, "You will have to seat here while I take your mate to see the Alpha King. He requested that she make the presentation."
Alpha Richard's face fell. I believed he was hoping to see the Alpha and present himself as a responsible Alpha. Tsk. What a shameless man! Regardless of his bruised ego, Alpha Richard strolled to the seat that Eric showed him and he was forced to wish me luck when Eric ushered me to the stairs.
I dreaded meeting with the Alpha King alone. I chose to believe that Eric and the Royal Beta would be there with us.
The last two times I was alone with the Alpha King was mind-blowing but I didn't want a repeat.
We soon reached the second floor and Eric stopped in front of a big wooden door. From where I was standing I could perceive the comforting smell of books.
If Eric didn't say. "He is waiting behind this door" I would have assumed the room was a library. Aloha King Josh probably has many books in his home office. I thought to myself as Eric stepped back from the door.
His steps caused me to ask, "Aren't you going in with me?"
Eric shook his head, saying the meeting would be between the Alpha King and me alone. My eyes widened and I stepped away from the door.
"There will be no one else in the room?" I asked subconsciously as a part of me began to think back to the last time I was in the same space along with the Alpha king.
I swallowed hard as Eric replied, "Hmm. There will be no one else. The Alpha King is the ultimate decision maker, if you pitch your plans well, he will surely consider them. You have nothing to worry about." But I had a lot to worry about.
My breath.
My body.
My skin
And every other sensitive part of my body was getting excited.
Even my core began to throb excitedly.
How could I not worry?
Eric knocked on the door and urged, "You can go in now, Rose."
I smiled wryly, worrying about the man behind the door. I mean, what was there not to worry about?
The man behind the door soon proved to me that my worries were justified.
