It's been a week since our birthday. I swear every she-wolf our age and some even older have been by to see if we're mates. Rhett's been enjoying the attention. I couldn't care less. If they're not my mate, I don't want them around. It sounds harsh, but why would I string a girl along just to dump her when I find my mate? That's even harsher, cruel even. I've told Rhett to break up with Nicole since he got with her. She's been dead set on her being his mate. Not our mate, his mate. If he decided to, then I wouldn't stop him. But it'd be a stupid decision. One I know he'd regret once I found our true mate.

Max called me to his office. I'm headed there now. I'm hoping he has news about the fae village, if he found it or not. I get to the office door and knock. I hear Kaden call to me, telling me to come in. I open the office door and step in. Max is on the phone and Kaden and Devin are standing by Max's desk. I go over and stand next to Kaden. He's just as much my brother as Max and his mate is one of my best friends. Aubrey is amazing. She's sweet, kind, always willing to help anyone out. She and I went through a lot of s**t years ago and it brought us closer. And the older I got, the less I looked at her as my brother's mate and more as my sister. And even though she's been really busy being both a nurse and the Beta female, she still makes time to hang out with Rhett and I.

"You called for me?" I say.

"Yeah, Max is just on the phone with Silas. He's letting him know what we found. Max wants him to come home to come with us." Devin says. Kaden shoots him a look.

"You guys found the fae village?" I ask. Devin shrugs and Kaden sighs.

"Yes, we did. That's what Max wanted to tell you. But Devin ruins everything, as usual." Kaden shakes his head.

"I didn't know it was a secret!" Devin says.

"It's their first mission as warriors. Max wanted to be the one to tell them, you know, as the Alpha leading it." Kaden says. Realization washes over Devin's face.

"Ohhh. That makes sense." Devin says quietly as Max gets off the phone. He turns back to us. "Blake, good you're here. Where's Rhett?" Max asks. I roll my eyes.

"With Nicole. He told me to come along and 'pass along the message' to him." I tell him. Max looks at me, annoyed. I know he also doesn't like Nicole. I watch his eyes gloss over as he mind-links someone, Rhett I assume. When he looks back to us, he has a smirk on his face.

"He'll be right down. Anyway, I called you here to tell you we found the village. I contacted the Earth Fae leader. His name is Laurel Silkbell. I explained that Silas is no threat to anyone. He seemed skeptical but said he was willing to meet Silas and see for himself. I knew he just wanted to meet him to see if Silas would actually show up. If Silas said no, it would seem like he had something to hide. I was just on the phone with Silas and he said he'd finish up his business and come right back here. He'll be back before tonight. We will leave in the morning for the fae village. It's not too far, about an hour's run from here." Max says to me. I furrow my brows.

"An hour run?" I ask. Max nods.

"The fae don't believe in technology. They live off the land. They asked us to leave any and all technology in our pack and come in our most natural form. I was confused, but he clarified and said to use our wolves to get there. They don't want technology tampering with their way of life. An hour run is nothing for our wolves. We run longer for fun, so I agreed." Max explains.

Just then, Rhett comes through the door, looking annoyed with messy hair. He was clearly in the middle of screwing Nicole. Gross.

"This really couldn't wait?" Rhett grumbles.

"You can get your d**k wet another time. This is more important." Max says to him. Rhett shakes his head as he stands next to me. He looks at me.

"What's that look for?" He asks.

"You smell like her." I say. Rhett smirks.

"Well, she was on my face, if you know what I mean." He says. I cringe and look away from him. Rhett laughs and Kaden smacks the back of his head.

"Don't be a pig. You're turning out like Arthur before he met Mercury." Kaden says.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Rhett asks, rubbing his head.

"A man-whore who cheated on his mate." Devin says.

"Wait, dad cheated on mom?" I ask, shocked. Max sighs.

"That's not our story to tell. Rhett, the pack w***e you are dating is not more important than your duty as a warrior. If it was your mate, maybe I'd excuse it because that's understandable. We've all been there. But Nicole is not your mate. Therefore, when I tell you to come for a meeting, you show up. I don't want to have to mind-link you while you're in the middle of something. Especially if that something is as bitchy as she is." Max says.

"What happened?" I ask.

"Nicole got mad that Max was able to mind-link me. She said I should be fully invested in her and have a block up. She bitched me out for leaving her right in the middle of it and I told Max he had got me in trouble." Rhett says.

"Why don't you just break up with her?" Kaden asks.

"I like her. She's fun." Rhett shrugs.

"I heard she's going around telling people she's going to be your chosen mate." Devin says. Rhett shakes his head.

"No, I already told her I didn't want that." Rhett says.

"Anyway," I say, wanting to stop talking about Nicole, "Max found the village." Rhett turns to Max.

"Why didn't you say that before?" Rhett asks.

"Because you should just come when I call you. I shouldn't need to entice you by telling you our mission is starting." Max says. Rhett lowers his head and nods.

"I'm sorry." Rhett says. Max then tells him everything he told me about this Laurel guy and how he wants to meet Silas. After he finishes explaining everything, Kaden steps in.

"This is your first mission. It's not big, but the fae are powerful. They can easily overpower us if

they want to. Don't piss anyone off or offend them." Kaden says.

"We won't." Rhett says, and Kaden gives him a look. "Alright, I won't."

"We were never worried about Blake." Devin says. I chuckle.

"Told you you're the only troublemaker." I mumble to Rhett and he elbows me.

"Shut up. I won't provoke anyone. I promise." Rhett says.

"Alright. It's settled then." Max says.

"So bright and early tomorrow morning?" I ask.

"We meet at sunrise. Make sure you're up and ready to go." Max says. We agree and he dismisses us. We leave the room and Rhett tells me he's going to find Nicole. I scoff and shake my head. I decide to head out of the packhouse. I need to go for a run. My wolf, Flynn, has been all wound up ever since Kaden said Max found the village. I have no idea why, but he seems more excited about seeing a fae village than I am. Which is strange, since fae and werewolves don't usually get along. We kind of just live separately and leave each other alone. This is only happening because of Silas and the fact he was supposed to die over 300 years

ago.

Once I get to the tree line, I hear someone running toward me. I know it's someone from my pack and they smell familiar. Suddenly, a brown wolf jumps and rolls on top of me. I get winded and my hands go to my stomach. I look at the wolf and he has a big grin on his face with his tongue hanging out.

"Damn it, Lenny." I mutter and stand up. Lenny is Atlas's wolf. He's a big ball of energy and loves to tackle people, even in their human form. Atlas shifts back and stands in front of me

completely naked.

"Guess who's coming with you guys tomorrow? It's me, I'm coming." Atlas has a big smile on his

face. I shake my head.

"Atlas, you're naked. Either put shorts on or shift back." I tell him.

"What, you don't like me like this?" Atlas gestures to his body.

"You know I like girls. I don't swing the way you do."

"What way? My swing is all over the place. Girls, guys, don't matter to me. If your hot, I'm going

to hit on you." Atlas grins at me. I roll my eyes.

"Yeah, I know. We met when you decided to try and flirt with me and I let you down easily." I

say.

"Hey, that was years ago. I'm over that now. I don't even find you guys attractive anymore." Atlas says, turning around to face away from me.

"Ouch." I mock.

"Oh, don't take it personally. It's just you and your brother are identical and once he started screwing Nicole, that was it for me. Could never touch anything she did." Atlas says.

"But I didn't sleep with her. Only he did." I argue.

"Are you trying to convince me I should be attracted to you?" Atlas asks me. I look at him for a

second.

"Uh, yeah, never mind. Don't be attracted to me. You're my best friend. We don't need that." I say, taking my shirt off. Atlas looks down at my torso, raising his eyebrows.

"Well, when you start stripping in front of me..." Atlas smirks and I throw my shirt at him as he

laughs.

"First of all, you're still naked, flaunting all your stuff in front of me. Second of all, I'm getting ready to shift. I'm not trying to entice you." I laugh. Atlas's face lights up.

"Yes! Shift! Come run with us!" Atlas shifts back into his wolf. I follow after I strip off my pants

and fold them next to a tree. Once my paws hit the forest floor, I let Flynn take over. Flynn is a light grey wolf with dark grey paws and ears. His tail is black and his eyes are green, just like mine. I get them from my dad, Arthur. Rhett has blue eyes like our other dad.

My mom says Arthur's eyes remind her of moss you find on the forest floor. It's a little darker

but still beautiful. Mine are brighter. She says they look like emeralds because of the way they shine in the sun.

We look up and see Lenny up ahead of us. We jog to catch up. As soon as we're right beside

Lenny, he takes off and we follow. Flynn is happy as can be as we jump over fallen logs and bushes. He loves to just get out and run without care.

We run for over an hour when Rhett mind-links me to ask where I am. I tell him I'll be back at the packhouse soon and put the block up. I'm pissed at him. He can't seem to let Nicole go. He claims he doesn't like her that much, he just likes sleeping with her, but I think he's lying. The way she has him wrapped around her finger makes me feel like he might love her. And if she wants to be chosen mates, Rhett might have already agreed to it without telling anyone. This is going to end badly and it's going to end up affecting our mate whenever we find her. I just hope Rhett figures out his s**t before then.
