Chapter 4

ROSE'S

POV

Sadly, I wasn't welcomed in a place that was closest to home.

It was sad that I had to make sacrifices for my people... my pack.

It has been a long day. Obviously. But I still had to travel back to the Silver Moon Pack to plead with Alpha Wright... To sell my pride for my Pack.

Despite my sacrifices, My father didn't send me back in a grand way. He made me run all the way back. That wasn't easy since Cali was still focused on healing me. Eventually, I made it back to Alpha Richard's mansion like a beggar in the middle of the night.

"Hopefully, they are asleep. I can't pretend to be sorry right now."

I thought to myself as I sneaked into the living room. Tiptoeing to avoid unwanted attention but unfortunately for me, Alpha Richard and Irene sighted me. They were having dinner like royalties but apparently, my arrival ruined the mood and perhaps the taste of Irene's roasted chicken.

She dropped her cutlery and yelled, "Disgusting! Your mere presence has stolen the palatable taste of my meal. It has become as rotten as you, Whore!" Rather than waste my remaining strength which was little to nothing, I continued walking, intending to ignore and escape the wrath of both mother and son. "Stop!"

An Alpha command that my current state couldn't resist. Alpha Richard barked suddenly, stopping me in my tracks.

Why the hell was my room close to the dining hall? I could have bypassed them if my room was on the other side of the mansion.

Slowly, I turned my face to him. I was feet away from him yet his hot glare melted my skin.

Alpha Richard sneered and pointed to the ground, bossing me around like I was a dog... A disgusting stray dog. "Get on your knees and crawl to me, bitch!"

Cali and I didn't appreciate the tone and the names we were being called. No one has ever thought of calling Alpha Richard out. His body count was uncountable yet I, who has only been with one man, was the dog. I pursed my lips and shifted my gaze to the marble floor. The emotions in my eyes were hidden from the hypocritical duo before me.

"What? You won't get on your knees?"

Richard queried furiously but I ignored him, treating him like he was a puff of air.

Before I knew it, Alpha Richard was standing close to me. He must have taken two or three steps out of anger. He grabbed my chin and forcefully raised my face, causing me to look into his dilated brown eyes. This has to be the closest we had ever been within the past three years of living together.

Alpha Richard held my chin tightly as he spat, "What the fuck have you ever given or done for me! You are a worthless whore and you should be indebted to me because I am doing you a favor by being your mate!" Words were at the tip of my tongue but I held back. I held back for my Pack members.

"Besides, have I been unfair to you? I send thousands of high-valued moon pearls to your father every week! You also enjoy my money without doing a damn in return!"

Alpha Richard gloated about his money.

"All I asked of you is to take care and serve my mother! After all this, you still went ahead to stain my reputation yet you aren't expressing your remorse... You should be sorry!"

He snarled. I didn't have to look in a mirror to know that he had bruised my chin.

Hehe! What a funny bastard!

I couldn't hold my tongue back anymore neither could I stop my wolf beast from pumping rage into my bloodstream.

I hissed, "Is this what you call fair? You rule your life but I don't have the right to make decisions for myself. You don't see me but you see servants and other females. You sleep with them forgetting that I have needs as a female."

He was angry but I was angrier. My small and weak body vibrated with fury as I continued, "If this is fair to you, why don't we switch places? I'll pay you thousands of moon pearls every day while I warm every male's bed and you will serve me and your mom. You don't have to do much. Just three meals a day. Fair offer, yeah?"

Before I could catch my breath, Alpha Richard's large palm landed on my right cheek.

"Paaa..."

The sound of the strike and the slap itself almost caused me to lose my hearing abilities as I staggered.

Alpha Richard caught me but he began to shake my already out-of-shape body as he gritted, "Do you wish to die? Perhaps you aren't aware of how your loser father came to beg me today. He knelt to me, begging me not to break off the alliance." His brown eyes were flaring and he didn't stop there.

"Now it's your turn to kneel before me! Or do you want to hit me? Do you want to provoke me?" Alpha Richard growled. "Please say a word to push me and I swear to push buttons that will create a mess for you and your worthless family!"

I nodded dejectedly not because I agreed with Alpha Richard but because I had finally understood that the man my father paired me with was nothing but a scumbag.

I should have known from the first day I met him and he smelled like he was coming out of an orgy. I should have realized that he would do me no good.

"He doesn't deserve your energy, Rose. Cease arguing with the dumb a*****e."

Cali chipped weakly. She'd had enough. Likewise me.

"Who knew you could be less arrogant, whore...?"

Alpha Richard slapped my face lightly.

"This is good. So much better and you should always remember to thank the moon goddess for blessing you with a good father. If he hadn't begged me, I would have killed you and thrown you out. Be good to me in the future, otherwise, I will forget our supposed mate bond and no one will blame me for whatever action I decide to take."

Despite Alpha Richard's long speeches, I didn't utter a word in response and that fueled his ego.

He went back to his mom and spoke with a tone of finality, "Take a look at this lady, Mom. If she goes out and acts like a slut again, you can do as you please with her. I permit it."

However, Irene wasn't impressed by her son's so-called permission. She glared at me, rose from the dining table, and stormed towards the stairway.

Alpha Richard gave me one last look before following his mom while I stood motionless in the same spot.

The thought of spending the rest of my life caged in this house and alliance, made my heart constrict. My feet weakened and I became cold all over.

No one deserved this life.

"This is for Mom and the Howling wolves."

I mumbled to myself and attempted to take a step towards my shabby room but faint voices from the second floor traveled down to the dining room, hitting my ear drums.

"That piece of trash, Richard... what special about her. Why does she get to still live under the same roof with me after her disgusting actions? You should end the cancerous alliance that is costing you so much money and resources. They don't worth it." Irene's voice came to me harshly. She was clearly quarreling with her beloved son.

Alpha Richard's disagreement could be heard. He responded rudely, "Why should I divorce her, Mom? Don't you know that Rose is the most beautiful Alpha Female in the entire Northern territory? In fact, she might be the prettiest in the werewolf world and I am envied by many Alphas just because I have her as my mate."

"Whether we are fated mates or not, it doesn't matter, Mom. I am mated to a beauty that stays at home. It doesn't hinder me from having fun outside. This is the definition of having my cake and eating it. I can get the best of everything easily... so yes, I don't want to end the alliance."

Alpha Richard concluded and I heard him slam a door. Perhaps he just walked out on his mom.

I smiled distressfully as I began to take slow steps to my room.

Ironic.

I once used to think my beautiful face was a gift from heaven but now it's drawn on me that my beauty was crafted in hell... Happiness and misfortune worked hand in hand. My beautiful face was the source of my misfortune. As long as I have this face, I would never be free from misery... or so I believed as I collapsed on my bed, seeking comfort from the unknown.
