The Twin Alphas’ Fated Mate -
Chapter 5
ALPHA KING JOSH'S POV
It's been three days and I still couldn't move past that faithful night.
With every breath I took, I perceived her,
With every move of my tongue, I tasted her.
I feel her and see her even though she was nowhere around my home- the large mansion that became mine automatically the day I became the Alpha King of the Northern territory of the realm. The big study on the second floor has become my favorite place in the mansion.
The luxurious yet non-glitter decorations in this part of the mansion must be the reason for the comfort I feel each time I am here... The blend of pure black provided calmness and comfort. The big windows were unnecessary though but for someone like Adam who was leaning against the window and chattering as he observed the situation outside, the windows were the best part of the study.
"Will your brothers be showing up today?"
Adam queried without looking at me. Although I didn't answer his question, I thought about seeing my brothers again after our last meeting which led to several attempts to end my life. I had four brothers who once loved me.
I was once their favorite little brother until I became powerful. My power was seen as a threat by all four of them.
Perhaps they never loved me. I was just a puppet that served them well without challenging their authority. I have changed over the years. I grew up-
"Tell me you aren't smoking, Alpha King Josh!" Adam snapped as he looked at me with disapproval glinting in his eyes. "Your lungs nearly exploded three days ago but here you are puffing-"
I zoned out, ignoring Adam's complaint and holding the cigarette between my fingers like the pro I was. When Adam stopped complaining about my addiction to cigarettes, I asked him questions about the spy I told him to get for me. "It's hard to get spies, Alpha King. I need to be careful if we don't want to fall into your brothers traps."
Adam responded.
I held his gaze and voiced, "What about the woman?"
My Beta didnt like talking about the woman that he believed was sent by my brothers to abuse me sexually to worsen my situation but I couldn't get her out of my head.
"There is something about her that I haven't figured out yet but I know she isn't like every other woman, Josh."
Max commented with conviction.
"I haven't found her. Perhaps more description would help me-"
One of the highest-ranked servants in my mansion stepped into the study, interrupting Adam's response, and bowed to Adam and me before saying, "It's the hour we have all been waiting for, Alpha King. It's time to grace your subjects with your presence as we begin the ball."
"Thank you, Gabby." Adam muttered and we both followed the Servant to the entrance of the hall where the first ball I would be holding as Alpha King would happen.
I should have held one last year to celebrate with the Alphas and Lunas of the northern territory but this day last year marked the beginning of the complicated relationship my brothers and I shared.
"Alphas and Lunas of the fast-developing Northern Territory, Join me to welcome the Alpha King that has made so much possible in the territory within the past two years."
I was standing behind the big wooden doors to the hall as my presence was announced. The doors were still closed giving me time to adjust my tie.
Werewolves in the hall began to cheer even before my name was called. Adam took the chance to say, "Asie from your brothers, I think everyone loves you, Alpha King."
What choices do they have? Even if they didnt love me, they would have to pretend. None of them could mess with me and remain alive... or unaffected by my fury. "Here come our capable King, Alpha King Josh of the northern Territory...."
The big two parted and I strolled into the hall with my Beta beside me. He was looking extravagant by the way but he didn't have to know that. The wide hall occupied many werewolves which were mostly members of my pack while the rest accompanied their Alphas to the ball from their respective Packs.
I was welcomed warmly and I addressed those in attendance with warmth too.
I started with, "Look how radiant y'all are." My subjects roared with laughter and they kept laughing until I ended my speech.
Walking off the podium, my eyes immediately shifted to the second door in the hall. The entrance door that every other Werewolf in attendance used to enter the hall. It was different from the one I used but that wasn't the issue.
The issue was the captivating beauty that made her way through the door, hanging on an average-looking man's arm.
"That's a pretty sight." Max hummed as I stopped walking to stare at the beautiful image of a lady in a luxurious red ball gown.
Adam's voice rang out as I practically drooled, "What are you gazing at?"
More like "Who?"
Breathlessly, I asked my Beta, "Who is that?" Adam found the center of attraction easily because, at this point, I wasn't the only one staring at the lady in red.
"Goodness me! That's what I call a natural beauty." Adam exclaimed, salivating at the sight of the beauty in red but he got a grip and continued talking, "I don't know who she is but I know the man she is with. He is Alpha Richard Wright of The Silver Moon Pack. He is young and his pack is promising and has flourished in his hands in recent years..."
Adam went on and on but I zoned out as my eyes found that woman again. She was doing something to me. She was taking my breath away just by existing like every other person In the hall.
Soft boneless hands lingering unscrupulously on my beaten body. Curvy body of a woman rising and falling like waves in the dark... In the woods.
Holy f**k!
That night! It's her!
Although I was seriously injured that night, I still remember her curvy shape which my eyes traced at the moment. The way she lit up flames of desirable fire within me and on me with every touch and every rise and fall...
There was no way my memories of a woman as hot and dazzling as roses could be wrong.
"It's her. She found us." Max chimed, basking in her beautiful hotness.
I thought I wouldn't find her but she found me.
I felt Adam's gaze on me as the beauty in red said something to the Alpha she was with. What was his name again?
Elegantly, the beauty in red strolled off and I knew following her was my destiny.
"You should mingle. I'll be right back." I voiced to Adam who I believed must have deduced my desire and I followed my desire immediately.

ROSE'S POV
"Tonight is important. You better be on your best behavior or you will have yourself to blame."
Alpha Richard had muttered to me as we exited his car some minutes ago. I stiffened awkwardly, looking at the ground to express my apathy.
I was wearing a red strapless ball gown which made my skin whiter than ever... Whiter than snow, in fact. My good shape and pretty face fitted in the dress and I would have liked the dress if Alpha Richard didn't pick it to make me an item of indecent attention. The kind of attention that I got immediately after I entered the hall with him. Everyone has eyes for beauty. Alpha Richard got what he wanted after all. The envious eyes of other men were on us as we joined the audience. He was happy but I was uncomfortable. Which was why I excused myself to have a moment to myself in the bathroom.
I joined my hands together, side by side, and stretched them under the faucet in the bathroom to get water. I patted my face with the cool liquid.
"I am exhausted."
Cali murmured. I was jaded too as I had to make sure there were no marks on my creamy skin prior to this occasion, Alpha Richard never attended such occasions without his enslaved doll- Me. I have had enough of those immoral gazes of smelly men, but I still put up with them for my pack.
I quickly reapplied my light makeup and walked out of the bathroom only to be stopped in the corridor by a man whose back was against the wall lazily.
His aura was strong and I would be an idiot to not know that he was one of the strong Alphas Of the Northern Territory.
"He smells like..."
Cali started but I completed it on her behalf, "Trouble. He smells like trouble." To avoid trouble, I slowly began to walk over to the man with the intention to walk past him like he was an unviable wall.
But he grabbed my arm as I reached him and I had to ask, "What-"
He cut in, "What? Don't you know me?"
I sniffed and took another serious look at the man with dark intoxicating features.
"I'm sorry. I'm afraid you have mistaken me for someone-"
"Is that so? He smiled warmly and pushed me against the opposite wall before I knew what his dashing smile meant.
"What about this do you not remember?"
His time was very low and my eyes widened when he began to undress right after he gestured to his body which I was supposed to remember.
Was it getting hot around here? My mind wandered and my throat dried up in anticipation... Or could it be terror?
