The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 170
Suzy had no choice but to accept it. She said to Juniper, "Thank you!"
expressing that she was truly fond of Suzy.
When everyone was chit-chatting, George's father, Graham Laine, and his oldest son, Gregory Laine, came down from upstairs. Everyone got up one after another.
Juniper introduced Suzy to Graham and Gregory while she greeted them neither servilely nor overbearingly.
Graham was just as George had described him. He appeared serious and unsmiling, looking deep and wise. It made it impossible to know what he was thinking.
Meanwhile, Gregory and George were rather similar in terms of appearance, but the former was wearing a pair of black-rimmed glasses. It was perhaps because he was more engaged in academic research, he looked prudent and restrained. However, he was as gentle and courteous as Juniper, which made him rather approachable.
Suzy thought that Gregory had gotten his mother's traits in terms of personality, while George was more like his father.
Gregory smiled warmly at Suzy and said, "Initially, the plan was that my wife and I were going to send out a car to pick you up, Ms. Shirley. But Georgie here said that he happened to be passing by River U, so I troubled him into fetching you here instead. I seek your forgiveness if things weren't up to your standards, Ms. Shirley."
Suzy had seen Gregory on TV before and knew that he had a high status in the academic world. He was also many years older than her, so she could not help but feel guilty. She said hurriedly, "Not at all. You're being too polite!"
George chimed in with a smile, "Suzy's right. She'll come often in the future. Everyone will see each other frequently, so don't be too polite now."
Everyone took their seats and exchanged a couple more conversations. Suzy found that the Laines had a great relationship with one another. The elders were gentle and loving, while the younger generation was considerate and polite. There was no melodramatic fighting and scheming up against each other.
When the elders were talking, Enoah winked at Suzy and pulled her up. She said with a smile," We can't really chime into whatever you adults are discussing, so I'm taking Suzy to my room instead."
Ean immediately said, "I'm going too!" "We're talking about girls' stuff, so why would you join in? Go and play your game instead!" Enoah laughed and took Suzy upstairs.
Juniper instructed, "Take good care of Suzy! I'll call you down when lunch is ready."
Enoah giggled playfully. "I got it! Suzy's a distinguished guest today. I'll definitely take good
care of her!"
Suzy politely said goodbye to everyone, then followed Enoah upstairs. Upon entering the door, Enoah smiled sheepishly and said, "Our family gets along very well. Although Grandpa's quite the serious type, he's tolerant and loving toward the younger generation. You'll know it once we get along more in the future!" Suzy nodded, "Yeah. Everyone's very nice."
Enoah slumped herself into the sofa and held a pillow in her arms. "Ean previously caused a couple of tutors to quit, and my mother almost gave up on his studies. We never expected him to rank first in the school. My mother's ecstatic. She said that she had to thank you!"
Suzy said, "Ean's very smart!"
"He's smart, but he's not willing to work hard." Enoah smiled. "Originally, my grandma wanted to give you a house, but my uncle said that you're a timid person who's even scared of David. He said that he's worried you'd get frightened if they gave you a house, so he disallowed her from giving you one."
Suzy," »
Was it too late for her to go out and prove her courage now? Who said that people who were afraid of dogs would also be scared of a house? Would those people who were afraid of dogs sleep on the streets, then?
"By the way, I also brought you a present. I'll go get it now." Enoah threw the pillow aside, got up, and went to the cloakroom. Then, she very quickly took out a large box. "Since you accepted that gift from my mother, you have to accept this as well."
"What is it?" Suzy took it and opened the box. It was a beautiful cup with a crystal clear body and a retro pattern on it.
