The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 171
"Isn't it nice? As soon as I saw this teacup, I thought it would suit you." Enoah tilted her head and smiled.
"I love it!" Suzy stroked the pattern with her fingers, and her eyes were clear. "Thank you!"
"You're still being too polite!"
The two chatted for a while. When they talked about Enoah's family, Suzy asked casually, "Has your uncle ever dated?"
"My uncle?" Enoah leaned on the sofa and gave it a thought for a while. "I only know that he used to have a good relationship with Yvette, but later, he had a marital contract with the young lady of the Shirley family and Yvette went to Marriot. Later, Uncle George went abroad after getting married to Ms. Shirley. I thought that he went to look for Yvette, but I found out later that it wasn't the case."
Suzy asked, "Did they break up because of your Uncle George and Ms. Shirley's marital contract?"
Enoah shook her head. "I was in my third year of high school at that time, and I was living in the school's dorm, so I don't know much about what happened between them."
Suzy nodded slightly and did not ask any more questions.
The two changed the subject, and after chatting for a while, Enoah's phone vibrated. She picked it up and looked at it. Suddenly, there was a smile in her eyes. She swiped it over to answer. "Didn't you just call in the morning? Is there something wrong?"
The other party replied something, and there was a bashful flush on Enoah's face. "Then when are you coming back to River City?"
Suzy guessed that it was probably Sol. She did not want to disturb the lovebirds, so she winked at Enoah and got up to walk out.
After closing Enoah's door, Suzy wondered where she could head to now. The Laines seemed to be discussing work downstairs, and she did not want to bother them.
Fortunately, she was very familiar with the Laine family's house and knew that there was a public study on the second floor, There should be no one there at this hour, so Suzy simply went to the study to read a book for a while.
The study room was at the end of the east side. She opened the door to enter it. She could quickly smell the scents of books.
The study was very large with floor to-ceiling windows on one side that faced the villa's flower bed. There were solid wood bookshelves on the other three sides, filled with various types of books.
The sun shone in, sprinkling all over the off-white carpet. The quietness and warmth blended all together. Even the air was transcendently quiet.
Suzy walked slowly from one end of the bookshelf to the other, looking for books she liked.
Occasionally, she would pick up a book and stop to browse through it. Upon finding out it was an obscure professional book. Then, Suzy would put it back carefully.
She was completely immersed in the fragrance of books and words. She did not hear the sound of the door opening behind her. It was not until the man stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist that she felt her body tighten up. When she took a whiff of the familiar cool spring scent, she finally relaxed.
George buckled her slender waist in his arms. The fit seemed to be natural without the slightest gap.
"What kind of book are you looking for? I'll help you!"
Suzy was a little uncomfortable. After all, the Laine family was around, and she came here as
Ean's tutor.
She pursed her lips and asked in a low voice, "Why are you here?"
George noticed her nervousness and whispered in her ear, "Don't worry. No one usually steps foot in here."
With his breath brushing against her ears, Suzy's heartbeat could not help but speed up. She turned to look at the floor-to-ceiling windows. If someone were to pass by the yard, as long as they looked up, they could see the two of them...
George seemed to know what she was thinking. He reached out and clicked on the electronic screen on the wall next to him. The curtains on the left and right of the floor-to-ceiling windows slowly moved closer to the middle, blocking the bright sunlight and blocking the sight of the servants outside the window.
