The Alpha Triplets And The Rogue -
Chapter 209
Oliver’s POV
As we all burst into the hospital room, we see Raven sitting on the edge of the bed. Her hair is knotted on top of her head, with stray tendrils sticking out here and there. Her usual, pleasant demeanor is replaced by something more sinister. She glares in our direction as we stand stunned.
No one seems to want to speak first. We have been caught going behind her back, and we know it. I try to think of something to say to make everything all better, but the truth is, I agree with her anger. She has every right to be angry that she has been kept in the dark over the past week. Elise’s trial should have never taken place without her.
Leo is the first one brave enough to step forward and speak to her. “Baby,” he says in a surprised voice. “You are sitting up on your own. That is amazing.”
But Raven is not impressed. She twists her head to look at him and growls in his direction. “Don’t try to change the subject,” she snaps at him.
“I didn’t know there was a subject,” Leo says jokingly.
The Alpha triplets run their hands down their faces and g***n at Leo’s ill-placed joke. Alpha Ace pushes Leo down into the seat next to the door and tries to approach his daughter. “Little Bird,” he says gently. “Don’t be angry with us. We were trying to protect you.”
Raven holds up her hand and silences her father. Her Luna Aura is beginning to seep into the air around us, and I cannot help but submit to her. My eyes glance around the room, and I see that Leo, too, has his neck bared to her. The only ones who seem able to withstand her Aura are her fathers.
“Is she dead?” Raven demands to know.
“No,” Alpha Ace says quietly. “Not yet.”
“Good,” Raven says as she pushes a little more of her Aura into the room. “You can take me to her and Alpha Harry.”
Still sitting on the edge of her bed, Raven slowly wiggles her feet back and forth. This is the most movement I have seen from her in the past week. I am delighted to see how strong she is becoming so quickly. That is why I cannot let her hurt herself by leaving the hospital now.
Before I can stop my feet, they are moving toward her. I stop right in front of her with a giant smile. I trace my fingers down the side of her cheek and relish the feeling of the sparks that are spreading between us. Raven lets out a sigh and leans into my touch, closing her eyes.
“Do you really think that it is for the best?” I coo to her. “You are still healing, my Love.”
Raven’s eyes snap open, and I realize my mistake. I should have never tried to use the mate bond to persuade her. I bite the inside of my cheek and wait for her to yell at me. She opens her mouth to speak, and I wince before she even has a chance to say anything.
She speaks purposefully instead of screaming at me like I expected her to. “I have enough strength for this,” she informs us all. “Now, take me to Elise.”
Raven slides off the bed and gently lands on her feet. Her knees buckle slightly under her weight, but she does not let that stop her. She takes slow and sure steps toward the wheelchair in the corner of the room. Once she is at the wheelchair, she flops herself into it, and we all let out a sigh of relief. At least she doesn’t want to walk.
“Little Bird,” Alpha Bryce steps toward the chair. “We have questioned Elise and are positive that she has no more information regarding the recusants.”
“You all have denied me enough this past week,” Raven says with a coolness in her voice. “You will not deny me this.”
Alpha Chris doesn’t second guess her. He steps behind the wheelchair and begins to push it toward the door of her hospital room.
“You can’t seriously be on board with this,” Alpha Ace steps in front of the wheelchair. “She barely has the strength to stand, much less flip through someone’s mind.”
“Keep speaking about me as if I am not in the room, and I will send you home to Mother,” Raven snaps at her father.
Alpha Ace steps out of Chris’s way and allows him to continue on his way with Raven. I stand in the hospital room, stunned. I cannot believe that they are going to let her leave. The other two triplets follow Chris silently out of the room.
I look at Alpha Leo, and he is staring at me with an annoyed look. “She will never love you the way she loves me,” he finally says.
I scoff at his words. “How do you know?”
“Because you came second, and we already have a solid foundation,” Leo growls at me.
I snort with laughter. Rumors spread quickly, and I know they did not start with a solid foundation, but I keep that information to myself. I continue to laugh in Leo’s face.
Leo jumps from his chair and stands toe to toe with me. He may be more muscular than me, but I am taller. I refuse to be intimidated by him. I glower down at Leo, and I can see him balling his fists up at his sides. He is going to hit me.
Using two fingers on each hand, I push him back. “You need to calm down,” I grunt. “We promised Raven that we wouldn’t fight over her.”
Leo steps back up to me and shoves me. “Raven isn’t here right now,” he says with a smirk.
“I am not fighting you in the middle of a hospital,” I roll my eyes at his childishness.
“What?” Alpha Leo retorts. “Are you afraid that you are going to lose?”
“That is the least of my worries,” I assure him before I turn and walk out the door.
I hear Leo shuffling after me, along with Raven’s aunt. Once we are in the parking lot, I realize the Alpha triplets have already left with Raven.
Turning to Ashley, I hold my hand out for her keys. “I am driving,” I tell her.
Ashley tosses her keys, and I quickly enter her tiny sports car. I barely fit inside, and Leo looks comical, folded up in the backseat.
As we approach the dungeons, nerves rise in my chest. Before I park the car, I can sense that something is wrong. Raven is sitting off to the side with two armed guards beside her. Tears are streaming down her face.
Leo and I quickly run to her side. “What happened,” Leo pants.
“They escaped,” Raven says solemnly. “Elise and Harry are both gone.”
