The Alpha Triplets And The Rogue -
Chapter 208
Oliver’s POV
Vomit rises in my throat as I look at the battered woman before me. Apparently, her name is Elise, and she was once an aide to the Luna Queen. According to the Alpha triplets and Alpha Leo, she used her position to get close to Raven and feed information to the recusants. It is unclear how many of the attacks she has participated in, but she is definitely a threat to the throne.
I check the time on my watch. We have been down here for more than an hour, and visiting hours at the hospital are in ten minutes. The Alpha triplets and Leo have been taking turns torturing Elise for information before her execution today. The only problem is Elise doesn’t seem to know much about the resistance that is building against the Luna Queen.
Her face is nearly unrecognizable at this point. Both tears and b***d stain her cheeks as she begs for her life. “I swear I didn’t know they had plans to kill the Luna Queen,” she whimpers. “I just wanted to be close to Leo.”
Leo growls. “It is Alpha Leo to you,” he spits in her direction. He raises his hand to smack her across the face, but Ace stops him from striking her again.
“I don’t think she knows anything,” Ace says. “It is time to let her rest before her execution.”
Elise goes pale, and vomit spews from her mouth. “I told you everything that I know,” she begs. “I promise not to be a threat to the Luna Queen any longer. I will go rogue. I will disappear. You will never have to see me ever again.”
“You tried to kill the Luna Queen,” Alpha Chris butts in.
“You pushed her down a flight of stairs,” Alpha Bryce continues.
“But she lived,” Elise cries out. “I didn’t harm the Luna Queen.”
Leo’s eyes bulge out of his head. “You didn’t harm her? You didn’t harm her?” He screams in her direction. “She is laid up in a hospital bed because of you. Who knows when she will be able to walk again? You deserve everything that you have coming.”
“I deserve death for pushing someone down the stairs?” Elise scoffs. “That is a little much, don’t you think?”
“It was an attempt on her life!” All three of the triplets yell out at the same time.
We are all tired of Elise. Especially me. I could be at the hospital right now getting to know my mate, but instead, I have been roped into this ridiculous situation. One minute Elise is begging for her life. The next, she is running her smart mouth. I can barely keep up with her mood changes.
I look down at my watch again, and it is time for her execution. “Can we get this over with?” I mumble. “I would like to see my mate before the day ends.”
I didn’t think anyone was listening or paying attention to me, but suddenly, four pairs of eyes are on me.
“What was that?” Leo growls in my direction.
I glare back at him. “I said, can we get this over with?” I say louder this time.
“Nothing is keeping you here,” Leo barks at me. “You can leave whenever you please.”
“Is that so,” I yell back at him. “Then I will just head to the hospital. You all can meet me there when all of this is over.” I gesture wildly to Elise.
“No,” Leo yells out. “I don’t want you to be alone with her.”
“What do you think is going to happen?” I snap a Leo. “She is laid up in a hospital bed. Visiting hours have officially started, and I know she is wondering where we are.”
“I have it covered,” Leo waves his hand. “I sent Ashley to the hospital to fill in for us while Raven waits for us to show up.”
“You did what?” The triplets all yell at once.
“What?” Leo says with confusion. “What did I do wrong?”
“The only people Ashley has ever been able to lie to is us,” Ace g****s. “She will break down and tell Raven where we are.”
“Oh,” Leo m***s with realization. “On a scale of one to ten, how much trouble are we in?”
“A fifteen,” Bryce says as he runs his fingers through his hair.”
“She is going to be livid she was left out of the trial and the sentencing,” Ace says.
I cross my arms over my chest and smirk. I told them all that it would be a bad idea for them to leave Raven out of these decisions, but they were insistent that Elise’s trial could not wait. I look back at Elise, and she is also wearing a smug look on her face. It is as if she knows something we don’t.
Before I can mention anything, the Alpha triplets’ eyes glaze over. Panic seems to invade their senses when their eyes return to normal.
“What is it?” I ask.
“Raven has figured out what is going on and is pissed,” Alpha Chris says.
Alpha Ace pinches the bridge of his nose. “She tried to stand and fell. Then she used her Luna Aura to keep anyone from helping her.”
“Is she hurt?” Leo and I exclaim at once.
The triplets shake their head no in an identical way. “She is fine,” Alpha Ace says quietly. “But we should get there immediately.”
“What about her?” I point to Elise.
“She can wait,” Leo growls. “She isn’t going anywhere.”
Elise begins to laugh hysterically. “You all have pissed off your precious Luna Queen. Whatever will you do?” Elise’s voice is dripping with sarcasm.
I look between Elise and the four men standing in front of her. “I don’t think we should leave her alive,” I say, trying to sound confident.
“What makes you say that?” Alpha Bryce asks.
“I don’t know,” I shuffle on my feet. “It just feels like a mistake.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Leo rolls his eyes at me. “She is locked in a dungeon. She isn’t going anywhere.”
“Leo is right,” Alpha Ace says hurriedly. “We need to get to Raven before she completely freaks out.”
I watch the four men shuffle out of Elise’s cell, and I follow closely behind them. I stay behind to ensure the guard locks Elise’s cell properly. I cannot shake the feeling that this is a mistake. We shouldn’t have left her alive.
Once I am satisfied the cell is locked appropriately, I turn to catch up with the Alpha triplets and Alpha Leo. They are already waiting for me at the top of the dungeon stairs. None of us say a word to one another as we pile into an SUV and head to the hospital to placate my mate.
