Raven’s POV

Elise enters my hospital room with a shy expression on her face. I have to admit that it is a good act. She knowingly shoved me down the stairs and now has the gull to come and visit me in the hospital. My room is empty. My fathers are patiently waiting outside my room to give me the privacy I need to delve into Elise’s mind.

When Elise enters my room and realizes it is empty, she drops the good girl facade. She crosses her arms over her chest and glares in my direction.

“You just couldn’t die, could you?” She growls. “Why do you have to make everything so difficult?”

I want to flip through her mind but not just yet. I open my mind link, hoping my fathers can hear everything happening in the room. Elise is inching her way closer to me.

“I should have known that a simple tumble down the stairs wouldn’t be enough to kill the Luna Queen,” Elise says in a whiney voice. “But it was enough to get you to keep your mouth shut.”

I let my eyes widen in shock as Elise speaks to me, but she isn’t telling me anything I don’t know.

“I guess I will have to find a way to keep you quiet indefinitely,” Elise says with an evil smile.

Peering over her shoulder, she comes closer to me, and I can feel anxiety rises in my chest. I don’t want her to get any closer, but I need her to be closer so I can read her mind.

‘We are right here with you,’ my father’s voice rings in my head.

I take in a deep breath and try to keep my face neutral. Elise comes to the edge of my bed and takes a seat beside me. Picking up my hand in her own, Elise pats it gently. The weirdest sensation comes over me. I can feel her hand in on mine. I am starting to regain some of the feeling in my body.

I focus on the feeling of her hand on mine and close my eyes. Soon strange memories begin to float through my mind.

I watch as if I am an outsider in the memories. I am nothing more than a mist in her mind.

I look at my surroundings, trying to figure out where I am. I am in a small bedroom lit by only a small lamp in the corner. Elise is humming quietly to herself as he packs a bag. There is a genuine smile spread across her face. This must be the night she packed to leave Blue Moon with me.

Suddenly, the door to her room opens, and a woman approaches Elise in a cloaked hood. I move in a little closer to the woman. I try to lift my nose to catch the woman’s scent. But I cannot smell anything in Elise’s mind.

Elise doesn’t seem to notice that the woman has entered her room until the woman clears her throat.

“You seem to be in a good mood,” the woman says in a hoarse voice.

Letting out a little squeal, Elise spins around to see the woman standing just inside her doorway.

“I am sorry,” Elise says in confusion. “Do I know you?”

“You don’t know me yet,” the woman says. “But I am here to make all your dreams come true.”

“My dreams are already coming true,” Elise laughs shyly. “The Luna Queen wants me to be her personal assistant, and I get to travel with the love of my life.”

“My dear sweet child,” the woman chuckles. “You are no longer the love of his life if he has found his mate.”

Realization flickers in Elise’s eyes. “That’s not true,” she says quietly. “He promised that he would always care for me.”

“Caring for you and loving you are two different things,” the woman laughs. “Now that he has the Luna Queen by his side, what would he need with you?”

Tears begin to stream down Elise’s face. “What do I do?” She cries.

“We must dispose of the Luna Queen,” the woman says as she lowers her cloak.

I let out an audible gasp as the woman reveals her face. It is the same woman that has been haunting my dreams for years. She is real.

A loud growl from the hallway pulls me from Elise’s mind, and my fathers come rushing into the room with Leo and Oliver following closely behind them. Leo immediately pulls Elise from my side, and Oliver cuffs her arms behind her back.

I watch in shock as chaos unfolds in front of me. My fathers are fighting with one another. Oliver is trying to control Elise, but she is putting up one hell of a fight. Leo is sitting on the bed with me, holding me protectively in his arms.

Frustration builds in my mind as I try to make sense of what is happening around me. Why did they come barging in before I could finish searching for memories in Elise’s mind? Why are my Dad and my Papa threatening to kill my Father?

“You said she was dead!” Papa screams at my father.

“I thought she was,” Father responds quietly. “No one could have survived that fire.”

“Well, obviously she did,” Dad snarls. “How else do you explain what you just saw?”

“Are you going to tell us that our father is possibly still alive as well?” Papa glares at Father.

“No,” Father grumbles. “I killed our father myself.”

“So you just lied to us about killing Mother?” Papa shouts back at him.

“She couldn’t have survived that fire!” Father shouts back at them. “Not without help.”

Leo wraps his arms around me tightly as if he is trying to shield me from the mayhem that surrounds me. The long he holds me, the stronger the tingles of the mate bond spread throughout my body.

Rose yawns lazily in my head, ‘What is going on?’

‘Everyone has gone crazy,’ I tell my wolf.

‘It appears you have lost control of the situation,’ Rose chuckles.

‘I haven’t been able to move or speak for several hours,’ I g***n.

Rose stretches inside my mind, and I feel my body slowly beginning to heal.

As I finish my conversation with my wolf, my eyes come back into focus. My hospital room is still filled with everyone yelling at everyone else. Elise is struggling to escape from Oliver, screaming for Leo to save her, and my fathers are still at one another’s throats.

I take a deep breath and scream. “Will everyone shut up and tell me what is going on?”
