Jemma’s POV

It was another morning of finding myself suddenly waking up to a wave of nausea and running for the toilet. After I retched until my ribs hurt I sat on the cold tile of the bathroom. My head was pounding as I pulled into Cassius’s lap. I lay my head against his bare chest as he massaged my arms. I was getting to like this in the morning. It always seemed to make me feel better. “I wish I could sit here like this forever,” I murmured to him.

“I would hold you forever, my queen,” He whispered to me. He placed his hand on my belly.

Sighing I put my hand over his. “We need to get up and dressed.”

He stood up with me in his arms and carried me into the shower. We took a regular shower together as I wasn’t up for more. We walked into our closet together and I looked through my clothes. I still wanted to do some training after breakfast so I selected a training outfit and put it in a bag then put on a pair of black jeans and a purple button-up shirt that had flowers on it. I turned to see my king dressed in dark blue jeans and a blue shirt. I had to smirk as I looked him over. “Does my Queen approve?”

“Yes, my King,” I said as he swept me into his arms and kissed me. There was then a knock on the door. “I bet that’s your mother with Nicky.” He released me and I walked out of the closet to answer the door. I smiled at my son and mother-in-law. “Thanks again, Izzy.”

“You are welcome, dear. He was a very good pup last night,” She smiled down at my pup. Nicky ran into our room and jumped onto the couch next to Cassius.

“Let’s watch Spongebob,” He squealed at my mate.

“Ainsley and I will be heading to her new pack early. Casper had to leave last night because I guess his pack was having rogue problems.”

Cassius stood up and walked towards us, “Do they need assistance?”

Izzy shrugged, “He didn’t say.”

“Well, I am sending warriors with you and Ainsley. Can’t have my mother and sister unprotected.”

Izzy patted his cheek, “Such a good son, still protective of his mother.”

He smiled at her, “When are you and Ainsley leaving?”

“As soon as I walk out the door,” She replied to him.

His eyes glazed over momentarily as he mind-linked whomever he needed to.

“Bye Izzy, give my regards to Ainsley,” I waved to my mother-in-law as I walked over to my son who was engrossed by SpongeBob. “Nicky, let’s get you dressed and ready for breakfast.”

“No!” He yelped at me.

I put my hands on my h**s as I heard the bedroom closing, “Nicky, we have things to do this morning. Now let’s get you dressed.”

He folded his arms against his chest and pouted. “I want to watch my cartoons.” He whined.

“Nicholas,” I reached down to pick him up and he slapped my hands away, “Nicholas Phillip Warner,” I growled lowly at him. “Get off the couch now.”

He scowled at me but complied. I grabbed his little hand and practically had to drag him out of my room and into his. “I guess we are Mr. Grumpy this morning, huh?”

He sat on his bed and pouted as I rummaged through his drawers to pick out his clothes for the day. I pulled out a blue shirt with a truck on it and khaki pants. I quickly got him dressed and then met Cassius in the hall.

My mate picked my son up and carried him towards the elevators, “Why are you grumpy this morning, Nick?”

Nicky snuggled into Cassius’s chest. “I’m not grumpy.” He sniffled.

“Oh, I’m sorry you couldn’t finish your cartoon.”

We reached the elevators and Terry was standing there alone. “Morning Dad,” Cassius greeted his father.

“Morning,” Terry replied.

“Are you sad that Ainsley and Izzy left?” I asked him.

He shrugged, “A little, I can’t believe my little girl has her own mate and is about to become a Luna.”

“She will do great, Terry, “I said as the elevator doors slid open. We stepped on.

“I know she will,” Terry responded to me, “It’s still hard for me as her father to let her go.”

Cassius patted his dad’s shoulder. “Want to hang out later, Dad?”

“That would be a great son.”

My mate looked at me, “Is that okay if I hang out with my Dad later?”

I rolled my eyes at him, “Of course it’s alright, Cass.”

We reached the ground floor and Cassius set Nicky down. My son ran ahead of us as we walked towards the dining room. I started to feel nauseous again and grabbed Cassius’s arm and leaned into him.

“Are you alright, love?”

I shook my head, “Feeling nauseous again.”

We walked into the dining room and everyone stood up like always. “Good morning, everyone. I’ll keep it brief this morning. So we can start our day. Let’s eat.” We sat down and the omegas started setting our food down.

It was just toast and fruit this morning as I had requested something light. Cassius frowned, “Love, you need more food than that.”

I nibbled toast and glanced at him. “I can’t eat a lot first thing in the morning, Cass.” There was a cut-up banana and grapes on the plate along with the toast. I nibbled the banana as I looked over at my son. He was devouring sausage and eggs. I looked down the table to see Delilah sitting by my brother. “I see you are feeling better, Delilah.”

She shrugged, “Well, enough I guess. It was just a bug.”

“It was more than just a bug, babe,” My brother added and clasped her hand.

“They let me out of the hospital, Iain,” She argued. “Let’s just drop it.”

My brother sighed heavily and released her hand. “Iain, do you want to do some training with me?” I asked him.

He shook his head. “No, I have alpha classes early this morning,” He mumbled.

“I’ll do some training with you, Jemma,” Maria offered.

“Thank you, Maria.” I looked at Cassius, “Will that be alright?”

“We’ll keep it light and above the belly,” Maria added.

Cassius nodded, “It’s fine,” He mumbled out.

“Jemma, do you want to attend Luna class with me later?” Delilah asked.

I glanced at Cassius again, “Will that be okay?”

He laughed, “You are actually asking to go to Luna class?”

“Sure, why not.”

“Whatever, you don’t need to ask, love.” He said as he finished his breakfast and stood up. “I have to get to the office.”

“I’ll be there after my training session with Maria.”

He leaned down and kissed my cheek, “Love you.” He said against my ear. He then walked out of the dining room.

I turned to Nicky, “Are you done eating?”

He nodded seeming a little less crabby.

“Let’s get you to pupcare.” I stood up and clasped his hand. Angela followed me out with Nicolai. I released Nicky’s hand and he ran ahead of us with Nicolai. The two pups laughing as they looked back at us. After dropping my son off I went in the direction of the training fields. I changed into my training clothes and went to find Maria. She was stretching while joking with a couple of warriors. “Morning, fellas.” I greeted them as they bowed. I began to stretch before Maria and I jogged a couple of laps around the field. “Are you ready?” I asked as we squared up. Without answering she fired a few blows at me. I sidestepped and blocked her punches.

For about twenty minutes we exchanged punches and light kicks. I started to feel the effects and had to take a break. “Sorry, Maria. I don’t have my usual endurance.”

She shrugged, “I understand,” She sat beside me as I sipped on water. “Still, you are keeping pace pretty good.”

“Thank you.” I sat for another five minutes before we trained for a little longer. After another twenty minutes, I felt too fatigued to continue. We needed to get to the office anyway. I took a quick shower before getting dressed again. Maria and I walked into the office together. Deke was sitting in front of the desk bullshitting with Cassius. “I see you two are hard at work, “I smiled at Deke.

The beta shifted in his seat and smiled at me, “Did you kick Maria’s a*s?”

I watched as Maria punched his arm as she sat in the chair next to him. I kissed Cassius on the lips before sitting in my seat. “I almost had her,” I smirked at the Delta. “So, anything exciting happening in the kingdom?”

“Oh you know that same old s**t, Deke here was just telling me about his investigation into the trafficking problem as Silver Paw,” Cassius explained.

“So what’s the verdict, Beta?”

Deke shrugged. “It’s almost concluded, Jemma. We found one more pack that was involved and the alpha and beta of that pack have been detained in the dungeons for questioning.”

I watched as Maria cracked her knuckles, “Oh that should be fun,” she smiled at Deke.

“How bad is the trafficking?”

Deke glanced at Cassius, “Pretty bad.” He stood up and nudged Maria, “Well, we better get to it.”

I watched as the beta and delta left the office. I turned to Cassius, “Any other fun this morning?”

He shrugged, “The usual. I’ll let you do some video calls and see how you handle it.”

“Okie dokie.” Over the next few hours, I answered emails and took a few calls. I was a bit annoyed at some of the petty squabbles between alphas. Stupid stuff like one encroached upon another’s territory by inches. “Are they always this annoying,” I asked Cassius after a call.

He laughed, “Yes.” He replied.

As lunchtime approached my stomach was letting me know how hungry I was. Toast and part of a banana were not sufficient for breakfast. “Tell the kitchen I was a gigantic roast beef sandwich for lunch.”

He laughed at my request, “You should have tried eating more at breakfast. Can’t have you starving the pups.”

“Well, you try to eat when your stomach won’t allow it. Even bacon smells gross to me in the morning.”

“Oh no, not bacon,” He looked at me with mock offense. “Maybe you should try the broth like Mom had you sip on the other day.”

I shrugged, “Maybe. It did seem to help.”

He picked up his phone and put in our lunch order. Minutes later it arrived and I sat on the couch eagerly devouring my sandwich. Cassius ate a salad. I snickered at him. “What’s with the rabbit food?”

“It has bacon and cheese on it,” He pointed out.

I picked a piece of bacon off his salad and popped it in my mouth, “Mmm bacon.”

“Hey! Keep your fingers out of my food,” He growled playfully.

I leaned towards him, “Or what?” I picked another piece of bacon out of his salad and placed it on my tongue. “Mmm.”
