Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 384 Out Of Breath

Nancy didn't want to hurt Edward, whether he did it intentionally or not.

"Well, Nancy, you know that I believe you. But the problem is grandpa doesn't trust you anymore. I'm sorry. You know, my mother..." Thinking about his mother upset Charles.

She always caused him embarrassment, but what could he do?

His relationship with his mother was one he couldn't break off. Add to that the fact that familial ties of the rich were complicated and involved too much interests.

But the Fu family owed Nancy this time.

Nancy understood but she smiled bitterly. "It doesn't matter if they believe me or not, Charles. But if there comes a day that it's you who don't trust me anymore, I won't have a choice but to go with Edward!" As soon as she said those words, Charles covered her lips. "Nancy, don't talk nonsense. I will never let go of you!"

They had already been through so much together. How could she say such discouraging words now?

Driven by his anger and frustration, Charles must have exerted too much pressure on her lips.

Nancy had a hard time breathing.

"Hey... Charles, get your hand off me!" Nancy coughed and struggled slightly.

They were at the stairway connecting the first and second floors. Edwards' room was just around the corner. Any movement by either of the two could be heard from there. "Edward has fallen asleep by now. Don't worry, okay?" After saying that, Charles passionately kissed Nancy on the lips.

Edward stared at the ceiling with a bitter smile.

He heard every word that Charles and Nancy said.

He had always fantasized about getting together with Nancy. But after hearing this exchange between them, he realized that any chance of marrying her had vanished.

It was not that he didn't want to, but at this point he knew it was impossible.

Nancy didn't know how deep she had fallen in love with Charles.

Otherwise, she wouldn't display such an intimate moment with Charles out in the open which others could possibly see.

Nancy was not the type of woman who endured and put up with hostile treatment.

But for the sake of love, she still tolerated their abhorrent demeanor toward her, enduring judgment and criticisms other people threw at her.

Love could really cause someone to sacrifice everything.

He could say the same about himself. For a chance to be with Nancy again, he turned away from his comfortable life abroad and went back home by himself, only to get an answer. Although the answer seemed so hard to accept and was almost unbearable, it was better than not knowing and wondering forever.

It was time for him to wake up!

It was already midnight when Nancy and Charles had finished.

Charles had fallen asleep in no time. Perhaps it was because of a long, exhausting day at work.

Nancy tossed and turned all night. She couldn't sleep because she was worrying about Doris. The dawn had broken and she was finally about to fall asleep when suddenly, her phone rang.

Doris?

Nancy was startled and answered the phone in a hurry, "Doris, how did it go with Felix?"

Doris was supposed to be very familiar with Nancy's voice, but she couldn't recognize it.

She asked tentatively, "Are you Nancy?"

Startled, Nancy craned her neck and laughed in confusion. "What are you talking about, Doris? If I'm not Nancy, who else can I be?" "You also know Felix?" asked Doris tentatively.

Nancy couldn't believe what she heard. Why was Doris, a very straightforward person, suddenly beating around the bush?

This was inconsistent with Doris' personality, wasn't it?

"Doris, is there something wrong with you?"

Doris pursed her lips, slightly offended. How could this woman say that there was something wrong with her?

Was she really familiar with Nancy?

"I'm absolutely fine. You're the one who seems off," Doris retorted impatiently.

Nancy was stunned. "There's nothing wrong with me.

Why do you sound so strange? Are you okay?" "I'm fine. I'm fine. I just called to let you know that I'm back. You don't have to worry about me!" Doris answered absentmindedly.

"Have you told Jay about what happened between you and Felix? Did he say anything?" Nancy asked curiously in a low voice.

"Yes, he knows. He didn't say anything. Jay said that I married him. Is that true?" Doris took the opportunity to verify with Nancy.

"Yes, you won't forget things like that, will you?" Nancy sensed something odd about Doris.

"Of course I haven't forgotten! Uhm, Nancy, let me ask about the baby I'm carrying. Is the father Jay or Felix? You have to tell me the truth!" Doris stole a glance at Jay and lowered her voice to make sure he wouldn't hear her words.

Nancy shouted in shock, "What? You silly girl, don't you know how you made the baby with Jay? This thing you're asking me... Don't you think it's a little ridiculous? But if you insist on asking, I guess that the baby should be Jay's!"

Nancy was taken off guard by Doris' random questions. She couldn't fathom what was going on with this woman. Her words were bizarre and confusing.

"You know Jay very well, don't you?" asked Doris.

Nancy snorted and laughed. "Of course, I know him very well, but not as much as you do."

"Oh, I see. You know him very well so you probably have a good relationship with him. Okay, well, goodbye!" Jay and Nancy must be good friends, Doris thought. After all, Nancy admitted that she knew Jay very well. In that case, Nancy might help Jay and side with Jay.

She concluded that Nancy was probably not trustworthy either.

See, Doris even denied her friendship with Nancy.

After ending the call, Nancy sat in shock for a while. She couldn't get herself to believe that the woman she just talked to on the phone was her four-year college buddy and best friend, Doris. Well, this woman must have taken the wrong medicine. That would be the most reasonable explanation!

Or, she might be suffering from pregnancy syndrome and neurotic disease. Regardless, what happened was not normal!

After ending the call, Doris raised her head and saw Jay staring at her.

Was it mockery or disbelief in his eyes?

Well, it was disbelief. Indeed, disbelief.

"Well, shall we go home?" Doris suddenly asked.

Jay answered, "You don't even remember Nancy?"

Doris rolled her eyes. The truth was she had no idea what he meant.

If he and Nancy were playing tricks on her behind her back, that would be terrible!

Embarrassed, Doris smiled awkwardly. "Of course I remember her."

"Then why don't you tell me about your friendship with Nancy?" Jay was almost certain that Doris didn't remember even Nancy. Otherwise, she wouldn't have acted so cautious and alienated. "Of course we are good friends. Why bother asking?" Doris said confidently.

Good friends, huh? That sounded superficial.
