Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 193
Adam drove all the way to the villa.
When he entered through the door, Lucas said teasingly, "Did I catch you at the wrong time?"
"Shut up!" Adam said angrily.
Lucas smiled even more brightly and asked, "How's your wall climbing skill?"
Adam was taken aback by the abrupt question.
"Everyone's already sitting inside the hall. I haven't started since I was waiting for you. If you don't want them to know your true identity, I suggest you climb straight to the second floor. I have prepared a television in the room on the eastern side so that you can get a live video and audio feed," Lucas explained softly.
Adam raised his brow, gritted his teeth, and said, "Since you have made arrangements for remote access, why can't I just watch it from home?"
"It did occur to me, but I did it this way on purpose," Lucas said with a straight face.
Before Adam could explode, Lucas added with a serious look on his face, "You're our leader, and these people are important to you if you want to rebuild the family. Can you take it seriously?"
He should count himself lucky for hitting it on the nail! Adam sneered coldly.
He could not be bothered talking to Lucas and quietly climbed up.
After entering the room on the eastern side of the villa, he could see the television all set up. The screen was already on and he could see footage streaming from the living room downstairs.
There were dozens of people sitting in the living room. Most of them were relatively young and in their twenties and thirties. Adam did not recognize the younger people. Four to five of them were slightly older and seemed familiar.
After two to three minutes, Lucas invited Sandra into the living room.
Lucas was dressed exquisitely and was smiling politely. Sandra was dressed in loose-fitting athleticwear. Judging from the look in her eyes, she was clearly a little nervous.
"Welcome. For most of us, this is the first time we're meeting, so allow me to introduce myself. My name's Lucas Carter. My father's Albert Carter. This is Sandra Hernandez. She's Ray Hernandez's granddaughter. She was in charge of contacting you." Lucas smiled as he spoke in a pleasing manner.
The people in the living room took turns to introduce themselves.
"My name is Brayden Flores. I used to work as the deputy supervisor of the inspection team in the family," said a burly man in his fifties with stern-looking eyes.
The Drakes used to be leaders of the martial arts world and owned a lot of businesses. It was only natural for them to have an inspection team at their disposal. The inspection team would go around visiting the businesses to help address any conflict and maintain order. In a way, they were a lot like the Black Snake Brigade.
There was only one difference between them. The Black Snake Brigade belonged to the government while the Drakes' inspection team only took orders from the Drakes.
Every single person on the inspection team was carefully trained by the family and was an excellent martial artist.
"Nice to meet you," Lucas nodded politely and greeted him. He proceeded with the next man.
The old man sighed and introduced himself. "I'm Tate Reyes. I used to be in charge of the mining and forestry operations."
The Drakes had a big operation with businesses in countless industries.
Lucas raised his hand and said, "Sorry. I have to interrupt. When you introduce yourself, can you also tell me about your current work, status, and financial situation?"
Everyone in the hall went quiet for a second before they nodded.
Brayden added, "Ever since the family got massacred, I started a security firm with my men. By now, it has gotten relatively big."
Tate added as well, "I currently have two companies selling mining equipment. My assets add up to 150 mil."
"My name is Nolan Chavez. My father, Antonio Chavez, was the head of the Drakes' martial arts academy. I currently have dozens of martial arts centers."
"I'm Jonas Watson, son of Eli Watson. My father was in charge of the medicinal herbs division. I currently own a pharmaceutical company."
"My name is Lavender. I was groomed by Mrs. Drake to work as Ms. Drake's secret guard. I'm currently employed as Ms. Moretti's bodyguard. I've been trying to locate Mr. and Ms. Drake all these years."
Adam went quiet upon seeing Lavender.
Lavender and Maya were around the same age. When the massacre happened, their mother ran off with Maya and Adam. Both their secret guards stayed behind to attack the enemy. A lot of them got hurt, but most of them died in battle. Adam and Maya were only in their early twenties when it happened.
On one occasion, Adam secretly tried to hang out with Maya's secret guards. When his mother found out, he got a lecture from her.
Ever since the family massacre, Adam had never seen any of Maya's secret guards.
Maya had eight secret guards in total: Magnolia, Lavender, Tulip, Juniper, Breeze, Belle, Frost, and Luna.
Adam had eight secret guards as well: Cutler, Garret, Blade, Halbert, Hatchet, Axel, Scythe, and Spike.
He did not know how many of his secret guards had survived the massacre. He hoped to find the opportunity to inform Lavender that Maya was still alive.
Only one thing was stopping him. Since six years had already passed, he did not know whether he could trust these people yet.
Lucas was a childhood friend, so he felt safe telling him about his true identity.
Lucas obviously felt the same way, so he had concerns about letting Adam show his face in front of these past family allies.
Adam sighed powerlessly before he gathered his thoughts and continued looking at the monitor. By now, everyone was done introducing themselves.
Lucas said, "Since we all work for the family, I'll be candid. We've gathered everyone here to make an important announcement. Before I get to it, I have a question for you. What do you think about rebuilding the family? Please speak your mind. Even if you're against the idea, it's perfectly fine. A lot of you are doing well, so I get it if you don't want to get yourself involved."
Lavender was the first to speak.
"I only want to find Ms. Drake. I owe her everything. I will do anything she wants."
Nolan said in a serious tone, "Before my father died, he told me to find our master and help rebuild the family. I have every intention of honoring his wishes!"
"The people in my division are orphans. The family adopted us, raised us, and taught us martial arts. We owe them everything," Brayden said in agreement.
Tate sighed and said, "It is not easy to rebuild the family. We don't even know if Mr. and Ms. Drake are still alive. Even if we want to rebuild the family, they have to lead us, right?"
Everyone nodded in unison and looked at Lucas intently.
Lucas smiled before he said calmly, "I can confirm they are both alive. I've already gotten in touch with him!"
When the news unexpectedly struck them, everyone trembled in surprise with looks of anticipation in their eyes.
"Is Ms. Drake still alive? Where is she? Tell me this instant," asked Lavender without hesitation.
Everyone else had more questions about the Drakes.
"Where is he?"
"How are Mr. and Ms. Drake?"
"Is he okay?"
"How did you find him?"
Lucas did not interrupt them. He waited for them to express their concerns and calm down first.
A serious look emerged on Lucas's face as he sighed sadly and said, "He's not doing well at all. Life was very bad. In order to survive, he married into a family. In the past six years, he has been cooking and cleaning, down to washing the toilets. He has suffered nothing but humiliation and abuse. Everyone in the family keeps berating him. People kick him if they don't like him. He's not even allowed to eat at the main table. Whenever people want tea, he has to serve it... I feel so bad for him. His life is worse than a dog's!" Adam was instantly furious!
