Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 192

Everyone fell silent at Adam's sudden remarks.

Johan looked at Adam anxiously, afraid that his sudden burst of temper might ruin their plan.

Katie was also on tenterhooks. She hurried to say, "Adam, let me handle this matter."

Leroy saw the scene through his phone and was delighted.

Jenkins continued, "Johan, Mr. Ortiz is still waiting for the show to start!"

Johan clenched his teeth and scolded Adam, "Shut up! Someone like you has no right to speak here. You're just a filthy live-in son-in-law, and yet you dare to interject in our conversation? No one would even give a shit about you if you weren't married to a rich woman!" Having cursed Adam, he turned to Katie. "Katie Hartley, enough is enough. If you have any sense left, you should dissolve Hartley Group and put an end to everyone's suffering. The new Chamber of Commerce is a coalition of idiots. You stand no chance whatsoever against Mr. Ortiz!

"You should've also seen how many losses we've incurred during these past few days. You weren't able to help us in the slightest when Mr. Ortiz put pressure on our companies. You're just not strong enough to wage war with him or lead the Chamber of Commerce. We're suffering losses and on the verge of bankruptcy, yet you're here enjoying a warm meal. Do you have any shame?!" he said indignantly.

Katie was so angry that her face turned red, her shoulders twitching from time to time.

At this moment, Adam got up and hurled a bowl at Johan.

The hot soup splashed all over his body, and the bowl hit him in the chest so hard that it made him stagger backward.

Adam bellowed, "Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you humiliate my wife!"

Johan was stunned. When he saw the murderous look in Adam's eyes, he felt that something bad might happen.

Fearing that things might escalate, Katie pounded the table and stood up, interrupting their conversation, "Mr. Bird, I won't pursue today's matter, but I advise you to think about what you're doing carefully. You'll regret this choice in the future!" Seeing that Katie had the situation under control, Johan calmed down and continued to play his part. "Your company is on the brink of destruction, yet you dare to threaten me? Get the hell out of here. From today onward, we're enemies!" Katie was panting with indignation as she glared at Johan. Finally, she gritted her teeth and grabbed Annie's hand. "Let's leave!"

Johan was not done yet and shouted, "Hmph, you did this to yourself. Know your place next time!"

On the screen, Leroy laughed out loud. "That was fantastic. Johan, you can be at ease. From now on, you're one of us. The Camdens will cover for you."

Johan's expression changed into one of delight. He said, "Thank you, Mr. Ortiz. In that case, the problems that my company is facing..."

Leroy said with a grin, "Don't worry about that. I'll take care of your problems first thing in the morning." Jenkins, you also have my thanks. You've shown me a wonderful sight today. Katie Hartley got what she deserved."

Jenkins said respectfully, "Mr. Ortiz, no need to thank me. Did you see the way Katie and her family left the restaurant? They were like beaten dogs!"

"Haha, you're right. It was a satisfying turn of events!" Leroy's laughter echoed throughout the entire hall.

Johan wore a smile on his face but scoffed inwardly, Laugh while you can, because you'll be filled with regret later!

The family of three left the restaurant and returned to their car.

The anger on Katie's face vanished, and she heaved a sigh of relief. "Annie, were you scared just then?" she asked with some worry.

Annie shook her head and said, "No, Dad told me that you were going to act in a play and that there was no need to be scared." Katie was stunned, and she looked at Adam in amazement.

Adam said with a smile, "What? Were you afraid that I would ruin your plan?"

Katie asked in puzzlement, "If you knew, why were you so angry before?"

Adam rolled his eyes at her. "I accepted a minor role for your sake, but isn't it too much to stop me from saying even a single line?"

Katie was dumbfounded. "Wait, were you also acting?"

Adam replied, "If I hadn't intervened, there was a chance that you might've been exposed. You can't forget about my character. In their eyes, I'm a hot-headed man that beats people first and asks questions later. It'd look suspicious if I did nothing while my wife was being insulted. Anyway, you don't have to worry about that man. Although the soup was hot, it won't burn his skin through the clothes."

Katie was at a loss for words, and she had no idea how to reply. She had thought that her performance had been flawless, yet Adam's was so good that he even fooled her!

When she recalled the scene before, she felt that Adam was right. If he had not reacted or talked back when she was being insulted, their charade would not have looked that convincing. Although Adam did not say much and only threw a bowl at Johan, it was the finishing touch that perfectly sold their performance.

Katie laughed and said, "What does that make the two of us? A family of actors?"

Annie blinked cutely and raised her hand. "Don't forget about me!"

"We could never forget about you, my darling," said Katie as she caressed Annie's head. "Are you still hungry?"

Annie shook her head and patted her belly. "I'm full. I ate a lot today!"

Katie smiled and said, "If you're full, let's return home. Now that I think about it, we didn't even pay the bill. We saved quite a bit of money today. Heh, I've never been so happy to be insulted before!"

A smile blossomed on Katie's face. Her plan was going well, and she was one step closer to her objective. The trap had been set, and they only had to wait for Leroy to walk into it.

The trio returned to their hotel while chatting merrily. Adam helped Annie with her homework. Then, Katie took her to the bathroom where they bathed together. From time to time, Adam could hear the two giggling. When they finished, Adam took Annie to her room.

Annie grabbed Adam's arm and looked at him expectantly.

"Dad, which story are you going to tell me today?"

Adam pondered for a moment and said, "How about 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'?"

Annie looked at him curiously. She was so excited that she did not even dare to blink her eyes.

"Once upon a time, a princess named Snow White lived in a castle with her father, the King, and her stepmother, the Queen..."

As Adam started telling the story, Annie drifted into the world of dreams. He covered her with a quilt and exited the room, heading to the master bedroom.

Adam gently sat on the bed and looked at Katie who was leaning against the head of the bed. Her skin was smooth, and her breasts appeared even bigger now that they were not bound by a bra. Adam's heart skipped a beat, and he became restless.

Katie smiled and put some distance between them. "I'm reading a book. Don't disturb me."

Adam stretched out his hand and took her book, throwing it aside. Then, he headed for her breasts... Riiiing~

At this moment, his phone rang.

Adam grabbed the phone and looked at the screen. When he saw that it was a call from Lucas, he picked up and said through gritted teeth, "I hope you have a good reason for calling me."

Lucas was dumbfounded. "I just wanted to tell you that the old friends of the Drakes are on their way to the villa. I'll meet with them in a while and see what they want to do. You can come over if you want." Adam was taken aback, hardly expecting this. He said with a nod, "Okay, I'll be there soon."
