Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 177

As Adam spoke, the air around him changed.

Black Dragon was shocked, and he felt as if the blood in his veins was boiling when he looked at Adam. He said nothing and led the way. Soon, the duo reached the basement where Eugene Taylor was.

Seeing the murderous look in Adam's eyes, Eugene could not help but tremble. He begged, "Please, don't hurt me! I'll tell you everything I know!" Adam said coldly, "Who killed Grandpa Ray's family? How did he and his granddaughter end up with you guys?"

Eugene was utterly shocked. He stammered, "Di-Did you just call him 'Grandpa'? No way... Are you really that survivor from the Drake family?"

Black Dragon kicked Eugene in the stomach and bellowed, "Start talking already!"

Eugene spat out a mouthful of blood and looked at them in terror.

"Start talking if you don't want to die," repeated Adam.

Eugene was so scared that he almost wet himself. "I really don't know! I was just having fun with my friend Jeremy, I swear!

"One week ago, Jeremy told me that he was given a big task and that if we could complete it, the three of us would strike it rich. Then, he came looking for me, and Ray and Sandra Hernandez were with him.

"I asked him what the mission was about, and he told me that we had to find someone. Ray and Sandra Hernandez were to be used as bait to lure out the last surviving member of the Drake family.

"He also had a picture of you as a teenager. The person that gave Jeremy this mission sent it to him."

Adam frowned, and he turned to look at Black Dragon.

Black Dragon took out a phone and said, "We found this when collecting the corpse. It's locked with a password, though."

"I know the password! It's 950412," Eugene hurriedly said.

Black Dragon entered the password and unlocked the phone. Very soon, he found the picture that Eugene was talking about.

In the picture was a young man in black training clothes. The young man was covered in sweat, and he stood before a dummy, trying out some moves.

Black Dragon could not help but look at Adam. After a careful look, he found that the two were indeed similar.

Adam looked at the picture and tried to recall the events of the past. However, he could not figure out who could have taken this picture. Nonetheless, it must have been someone close to him if they were able to take a picture from such a short distance. He returned to his senses and said, "Try to see if you can get other clues from this phone. Jeremy Moody called someone before he died, start from there."

Black Dragon nodded.

Adam felt helpless. He did not expect that the guy he killed was the only one who knew something.

Seeing that Eugene had no other valuable information, Adam turned around to leave.

Eugene was stunned. He looked at Adam's back and implored, "I... I told you everything I knew! Please, let me go. I swear that I'll never come to Lisle in the future, and I won't tell a soul about what happened today!" Adam paid him no heed and headed upstairs, where Sandra was.

Sandra was still unconscious. Even though she was asleep, her eyebrows were furrowed and her face was pale.

Adam sighed and returned to the living room.

Around two hours later, Sandra finally woke up. She was very weak and could barely move.

The doctors notified Adam, who then hurried to the room, almost giving the girl a heart attack.

Sandra hugged the quilt and looked at Adam in fear. "Whe-Where is my grandfather?"

Adam took a deep breath and did not reply immediately. Instead, he introduced himself, "I'm Adam Drake, the person that your grandfather was looking for. Henceforth, I'll take care of you as if you were my sister." Sandra looked at Adam hesitantly, but she still asked the same question, "Where is my grandfather?"

Adam kept silent, unsure as to how to reply.

Sandra was about twenty years old, but she looked very weak after years of malnourishment. It felt as if a gust of wind could knock her down.

Seeing that Adam did not reply, Sandra probed, "Did... Did something happen to my grandfather?"

Adam nodded, his expression heavy.

Sandra did not lose her composure. She hugged her knees and sat on the bed without making a sound. Slowly, tears started to trickle down her eyes.

Adam's heart ached. "Your grandfather left this world with a smile. I promised him that I would take care of you, and that's what I'm going to do. I won't forgive the people that dared to hurt you and your family." Sandra did not reply. She kept crying silently, her shoulders twitching from time to time.

Adam sighed and turned to leave the room.

At this moment, Sandra said weakly, "I want to take my grandfather's remains home."

Adam nodded. "Okay, I'll take you there."

Sandra continued, "Do you need the things I've memorized? I made sure to memorize all the things that my grandfather told me."

Adam shook his head. "That can wait until after we've dealt with your grandfather's funeral."

He then left the room and ordered his men to take care of Sandra's needs. Then, he got in his car and hurried to Hartley Group.

Leroy Ortiz was now the President of Lisle's Chamber of Commerce, and Adam had no idea how Katie was faring.

After he arrived at the company, Adam headed upstairs and looked for Katie.

Katie was in her office, talking with someone on the phone. She was frowning for some reason. After she hung up the call, she sighed helplessly.

"What happened?" Adam asked.

Katie told Adam about the Camdens buying Woodroad Group and the Chamber of Commerce splitting after a new president was elected.

"Quite a few of our allied companies are under attack, and some of our partners were forced to cut ties with us. Even Robert's Byron Group was implicated. Lisle's world of business is in chaos."

Adam frowned. "The Camdens are still at it... It seems they didn't learn their lesson. Don't worry, I'll take care of this matter."

Katie forced a smile and said, "Actually, the Hamiltons have sent Clarissa over, but it doesn't seem like the Camdens are going to stop."

Katie thought that Adam was going to ask the Hamiltons for help.

Adam shook his head and said, "Even if the Hamiltons can't do anything about it, I can."

Katie was stunned. She did not know how to reply.

Adam sighed and explained, "I told you about my identity once, but you were too tired and fell asleep halfway, so you didn't get to listen to my full explanation.

"Anyway, I've never relied on the Hamiltons but on my own connections to do the things I did. I was discharged from the military, but I hold a very important position due to my numerous achievements." After a short pause, Adam continued, "I'm a general."

Katie was dumbfounded. She looked at Adam in disbelief.

"Wha-What did you say?" Katie stammered, feeling that she had misheard.
