Chapter 64

Derek’s POV

I head out the back door of the packhouse, trying to act cool, and not excited about the training team being here, but I want to see Gabi so bad.

I come outside and I see Jack on the ground, and someone driving off back towards the gate. I see Gabi with her back to me and those leggings are perfect on her, as her as*s is outlined well in them.

I heard a roaring sound and see Taylor laying on the ground and I have no idea why she is on the ground. Did she get attacked too? I linked my head trainer to make sure the rogues had not come back, and he assured me the packlands were clear.

Normally I would have linked my Beta Justin, but he is with my mom guarding her at the hospital. I looked back over at where Taylor is looking and see the problem and I immediately head over to kick Tanner off my packlands right this second.

I see their Lead Trainer heading to cut me off from engaging with Tanner. I don’t care what in the hell he is about to say, because Tanner is an Alpha and he can get the hell off My land, right now.

Gabi sees the big guy coming and turns her head to look over her shoulder to see what he is looking at. I am stunned, and I have to stop walking to look at her, Gabi is more beautiful than she was the last time I saw her. Tanner turns as well, and he is looking at me with his eyes narrowed.

He knows I want her back and he probably thought that he could keep me from her, but he is about to find out, that won’t be happening here today. I start approaching again and I walked up to the Lead Trainer, who just happened to be a huge guy, and I shake his hand.

“I know mom set this up, but I know that he”, I stop talking to point at Tanner, “Is not part of your team, and he is an Alpha. I do not want him on my packland. I know he is here to protect his mate, but she will be safe here at Red River. I guarantee it” I told them with a serious expression on my face.

I will be trying to talk her into coming back to me, but I can’t say that now, can I?

“Actually, Tanner has passed his testing and he is a full member of the team. You can call Alpha Heath about it to discuss it, but Tanner is with us. You either get the whole team, or we pack back up and leave. Those are your two options on what will be happening with us” their Leader told me.

“What? When did that happen?” I asked him.

“Yesterday, he was tested for 5 hours and beat all five of us. It was all fair and witness by several judges, including your Uncle Heath. Please feel free to call him and ask him yourself. We will wait. When you decided, we will either introduce ourselves and unload, or pack up and leave.

The choice is yours” The Lead told me, and I grabbed my cell phone from the back of my jeans and went to the kitchen to make the call.

I am furious, what right does he have to join their team. Why did my Uncle Heath allow it? I call my uncle Heath and ask both questions right off the bat.

“First off, hello to you too Derek. Second, how is your mother? Von is worried sick about her. I will be there tomorrow to check on her myself, but Von took this hard, and I will not leave her by herself right now” my uncle Heath said.

“I am sorry, I am concerned about another Alpha on my packlands as we do not have a treaty with him, and the safety of my pack is my main concern. Hello uncle Heath.

I am sorry aunt Von is so upset about mom. We are all very upset about it, and I cannot understand how they managed to get into the packhouse. There were no rogue scents in the packhouse, and I am worried sick about mom too.

Justin is with her, and Dad said that he would watch her while Justin goes to eat, shower, and change. I have freed Justin up to where all he needs to do is watch mom in the hospital” I told Uncle Heath.

“I would like you to actually ask Gabi to watch over Liz when Justin cannot be there. If you would like I will text her to ask, if you don’t want to” Uncle Heath told me.

“No, I can tell her. That won’t be a problem. I do have a problem with that guy being here though” I told Uncle Heath.

“That guy, just beat my whole team to become an honorary member of my team. He is going to implement the same team at his pack, and he put in the work to be able to defeat, and take out the whole team. They will be able to get the training done much faster, but he is a member of the team.

A full member, if you don’t want them to stay, just tell Alan. He is the Lead Trainer and the head of the team when I am not there, and they will be out of your hair shortly.

I would suggest though that you give this a shot, as your pack is a sitting duck right now, and your people need to be trained, and quickly. I would not put it past them to attack again and for the day before, or at the Luna ceremony. It is all your choice.

I believe you though when you said that the pack is your main concern, and it should be” my uncle Heath told me, and now I am painted into a corner. If I choose to let them leave without training my people, every death from then on is on my shoulders.

I really don’t want Tanner here, but I guess I can get Heather and some of the other hot girls here to try to distract him, so I can speak to Gabi. I see that they are marked now and mated, and I am so angry, he knew what he had, and he swept in and took it from me. I guess I will just make things hard for him here and try to keep them apart as best I can.

I know Piper thought he was hot too, so I will sick her on him as well. She looks similar to Gabi, just Gabi is more beautiful, with those beautiful eyes, and those k!ssable l!ps. OK, I guess they are not that similar after all, but they do both have a nice as*s, and maybe I can get Piper to distract him for a little while too. I am sure that they will both enjoy trying to distract him.

I head back out to the Lead Trainer, Alan, and tell him, “That is fine. You can all stay. I need my packs trained. We have River Bed under us as well starting Saturday, so they will be sending over people to be trained as well” I tell them and it is killing me to be facing Alan, as I want to be looking at Gabi, but I can’t just come in hot.

Tanner will be watching me, and I don’t want to get into a fight with him, maybe after some training, as I will be going myself to train as well.

“That is fine, please have a list made up of the number of warriors, and since school is out you need to get your middle school and up trained as well. Please just have someone email me all the information and numbers and I will get something drawn up tonight and sent to you.

Please let me know if you need me to send it to anyone else. We will start training tomorrow at 6 am. Please have everyone here and on time. Stragglers will be made to run l*ps and then do everything that they missed from being late as well, the soon-to-be-Luna and yourself are required to train with us.

Only the elderly will be getting a pass, but we will still train them on weapons if they would like. They can’t fight hand-to-hand, but they can still help in case of attack, more than you would think they could” Alan said to me.

I allow myself to glance over at Gabi and said, “My uncle Heath wanted me to ask you to break Justin at the hospital with mom. I was just about to go and check on her myself, so I can walk you over if you want me too”.

I was proud of myself for how casually sounded like I couldn’t care less, but inside my wolf, Hunter was jumping up and down to spend some time with her.

“Thanks for the offer, Derek, but I had already contacted Justin on the way here and suggested it to him. He said he was good until 8 pm, and then he can be relieved, so I will be spending the night in her room with her. Justin will come back at to relieve me so I can shower and eat before training.

But I think it would be great for you to go and check on her, I know how much she loves you. Oh, and Derek, could you please make sure that the Omegas get to attend the trainings too because they need to know how to defend themselves along with the rest of the pack” Gabi said to me, and again, I am painted into a corner.

I am pissed that I was not successful, and I mindlinked my head warrior for Red River, and the one for River Bed, and tell them to get their lists up of their number of people, and when the training would start tomorrow.

Then I realize that Gabi just told me that she would be with mom from 8 pm until 5 am tomorrow. That is valuable information that I am glad I now have. I will just show up around 10 to tell mom goodnight and coincidentally be there to talk to Gabi too.

I feel better now, and I go into a full run to go check on my mom. I had meant to do this anyway as I was really worried about her. I still need to talk to Justin anyway as he had checked the area out and told us all that no rogues had entered the packhouse.

I had checked behind him, as dad said that Justin was wrong. But Justin had been right, there was no rogue scent in the packhouse.

I thought that Justin had messed up at first, and I am starting to think that dad may have had a part in it as both Heath and Gabi didn’t want dad as part of mom’s care, but surely, he wouldn’t have stooped so low as to hurt mom? Right?
