Chapter 51

Gabi’s POV

I would like to say that everything went smoothly when we came back to our pack, but it didn’t. Now that Derek knew where I was, he kept trying to call me. Every single day. Thankfully, he doesn’t have my cell number, but he keeps annoying my friends and Von to speak to me, by calling the packhouse and asking for me.

He knows better than to mess with Heath, it would not end well for him. It has been a little over a month since Taylor’s party, and he will not let up. I have called Luna Liz twice about it, but she has already spoken to him, and he said he just wants to “talk to me for old time’s sake”, like I need to speak to him at all.

No one but our families and mine includes Luna Liz, knows that Tanner and I marked each other, so Derek still thinks that he has a chance, and he really doesn’t. Tanner and I are marked, and if things are still going well for us, we will soon be mated.

I have continued my training with my team, and to make it fair on Tanner’s testing, they decided that just the guys would test Tanner, for his honorary position on the team. It would keep him from having to “kill” me to complete his testing.

They are not going to be easy on him either, as their pride took a hit with me taking them down. Tanner has been doing extra training with his Beta, not with his warriors, as he is still avoiding Dana, who, as anticipated, is less than thrilled that Tanner has found his mate.

She keeps throwing herself at him, and he finally had to Alpha command her to stay out of his office, as she kept coming in to “ask him a question” and then started removing her clothing to try to entice him.

I am not super happy about it, but since I know what it feels like to be cheated on, as Derek had made an Olympic sport out of it. I am so glad that I have not felt that familiar pain with Tanner.

So, I just keep doing what I do, and train, as I already know from Luna Liz that since the start of August, they had started receiving even more threats from the rogue Alpha about not holding the Luna ceremony, or the deaths would be on their heads, and not on the rogues.

Piper and her parents refuse to reschedule it and have threatened Derek and Monty with upholding the agreement and taking the Red River pack from them if they don’t comply with Piper becoming Derek’s Luna.

Of course, Derek and Monty refuse to give up their pack, so the Luna Ceremony will be on the following Saturday, a week from tomorrow. Luna Liz said she felt like they would be attacking soon and wanted Heath and the team ready for it.

We are as ready as we will ever be, and both Hudson and I are more than stocked on our bullets and magazines. I also got a magazine holding vest for me to load up each night, so I am fully prepared to take out at least a hundred rogues with my gun alone just from what I have already prepared. I also have my extra bullets packed in an extremely heavy case to travel with me.

Tomorrow is Saturday and Tanner will be testing and I am a little nervous for him. Our team is good, and I don’t want him to get hurt, or worse, him not qualifying. I think he wants to go in with us a little too much as he is furious with Derek calling here several times a day, and I have no idea who told him, as I wasn’t going to.

Tanner gets really upset when he hears about Derek calling, and it could affect his focus. I want him to be on his A-game for tomorrow and I am excited for him to be coming in tonight, as I haven’t seen him in two weeks, and I miss him.

Things kept happening in his pack now that he found me, and there have been reports of someone trespassing onto his packlands, but they haven’t been caught yet. Tanner is furious, as they have changed the patrols three times now, and yet whoever it is, is still somehow getting onto and off of the packgrounds without being caught.

He knows someone is working with them on the inside and when he finds out who it is, they are going to be punished. He knows it is an outside scent, but he cannot place it, and he only wants to keep his pack safe. That is his only goal, and he loves his pack members and would protect them with his own life. That is why he didn’t want me to visit yet.

It started at the end of the week after we left Crimson Shadow. He is still changing things and he is about to start giving misinformation to each of the warrior teams to try to figure out who is giving the trespasser information on how to get into the packlands.

Tanner, Gavin, Tanner’s Beta, Peter, and his Gamma, Harrison Miller, have all been working on showing up and waiting for them to come onto the packlands for the last three weeks. I finally suggested to Tanner last weekend to start giving different information to each of the three teams after Tanner had been dealing with it for a month.

I really believe that maybe it could be one of his warriors in with the trespasser, giving them tips on how to get into the pack. That is why he started giving out the misinformation for this weekend. Tanner’s dad, Dawson, will be taking over Tanner’s spot and they will be out in the areas that were not supposed to be covered, to try to catch them.

I swear it is Dana, but I have no idea who she is meeting with. I told Tanner that and he didn’t think that she would be dumb enough to be letting someone onto the pack grounds with her still wanting to be Luna. He thought it was too big of a risk for her to take, especially if someone else found out she had let someone onto their land, or if someone got hurt, there would be hell to pay.

I just find it highly suspect that we find each other and then can’t see each other but twice in a month because of a sudden and coincidental “unknown” person on their land, and that hasn’t happened in years. But I will keep quiet about it, as I know that Tanner is really upset because he is concerned about his pack.

I just really cannot wait to see him when he gets here. It has been two weeks since saw him last, and that was only for a day, as he got called back because of the unknown person coming onto the packlands when he was out of town.

Tanner told me he would be here about 5 pm because he couldn’t leave until after a meeting with the warriors at 2, and he would leave right after that.

It takes almost three hours to make the trip and I am naturally excited to see him and have been in the front of the packhouse for the last 30 minutes waiting on him to get here.

Normally, Tanner calls me to let me know where he is and when he will be getting here, but I didn’t receive the call this time, and I was a little concerned, as I texted him with no response.

I will be glad when he gets here. I see his car coming up the drive and I am almost bouncing with excitement when I notice that he is not alone in the car.

I stop and take another look and I see Tanner with a frustrated look on his face and some girl in the front seat with him, and another warrior, a male, in the back seat of his SUV.

I am now wondering why they are with him, and why he didn’t give me a heads up that he would not be alone. He stops the SUV and turns the car off and comes straight towards me and sniffs my neck hard and gives me a hard hug.

I see the girl get out of the SUV and see him hugging me and giving me the most hateful look, that I have seen on anyone, except Taylor. I already know this must be Dana. She is gorgeous, at 5’11, with blonde hair and blue eyes, with perfectly tanned skin.

She is perfect, except for the ugly look on her face. She doesn’t try to hide it either. Seeing me looking at her, she wants me to know that she doesn’t like me. Well, she can get in line with the rest of my fans, as her opinion of me doesn’t matter.

I look up to Tanner and give him a k!ss, and then hear coughing behind us with Dana looking hard at Tanner and saying, “Um, we need to get our rooms”.

“We will have to get some rooms ready for you, as I wasn’t aware that you would be bringing anyone with you on this trip, Tanner. I thought that you were just coming alone to test”, I told him.

Tanner opens his mouth to answer me, when Dana speaks again, “Well, I guess you don’t know everything then, do you? He has received a threat and they picked me, as the best female warrior, and Brock, as the best male warrior to come with him for him to be safe while he travels between packs.

I am sure your pack will be able to protect him while he is here, but we were sent for the ride here, and back”. She looks me up and down and then dismisses me and starts looking around our pack like she smells something. I mindlink Von and ask for two rooms to be prepared and let her know that two warriors came with him.

“Why does he have two warriors with him?” Von asks me.

“I have no idea, but this she-wolf is a former girlfriend of Tanners, and she has a clear dislike of me already” I linked back to her and smiled up at Tanner.

“I was worried as I tried to text you, but I got no response back,” I told Tanner.

“Yes, I had my phone on the console, but Dana took it and put it in my suitcase for some reason. We were on the way here before ! realized that I didn’t have it”, Tanner told me. I glanced over at Dana, and she shrugged and said, “He needs to focus on the road while driving, you knew he was coming, you were fine”.

“Well, in case of an emergency, he would need his phone. That is common sense, isn’t it, Dana? If he is truly under a threat, why would you take his phone?” I asked her, and I saw her l!ps thin out, as she couldn’t answer the question.

We both know it was to have his attention while coming here. I also didn’t know why he didn’t get two male warriors to come with him.

We will be discussing it later, as ! am getting more and more upset thinking about it. Dana gives me a smug smile like she thinks she has won this round, but I haven’t even begun to fight for Tanner.
