Chapter 52

Tanner’s POV

I could see it on Gabi’s face when I pulled up and she saw Dana in the front seat. I didn’t want Dana to come, she volunteered to come, and I didn’t want to cause even more of a delay in getting to Gabi, but I see now that I should have.

I will make sure that Gabi knows that I love her, and only her. I am hoping that we can stay in her room together tonight. I do not trust Dana, and I am sure she would even try to do something here, to try to break us up and I am kicking myself for allowing her to come.

She already messed me up by taking my phone. It didn’t work out for her, as I didn’t talk to either one of them.

It is truly suspect that I suddenly got a threat to my life when they found out yesterday that I was coming here to test. Gabi may be right, I think Dana is working with whoever is coming into my packlands, but I have no idea why. Why would she work with someone outside of our pack? What would be the reason for that?

I leaned down and gave Gabi a proper k!ss, ignoring Dana coughing again to get my attention. My attention is exactly where it needs to be, on my mate. I am a little worried about the testing, as they are known as the best of the best, as far as training goes.

I am good, but I don’t know what is going to happen with the testing, and I just need to do my best and completely focus while I am out there, as I don’t want Gabi going to Red River without me. Derek’s well aware of his mistake and he still wants Gabi back.

He is going to try to talk her into whatever position he can get her into, and I am sorry, but she is taken. I cannot get onto his packlands unless I am under the blanket of being on the team. I plan on eating dinner early and then heading up with Gabi to her room, as I rest better with her than I have ever slept

in my life.

I see Dana giving Gabi a truly ugly look as she is so angry that she isn’t even noticing me watching her. When she does notice it, it is like a switch has been flipped and she is now a ray of sunshine.

I am not fooled, she has already let me know that she considers Gabi to be unworthy of leading the pack and has already been going around and telling anyone who will listen to her the same thing.

I only found out this week, but Dana has been doing this since I told my Beta Peter that I had found my mate and he mindlinked the whole pack to tell them.

Now there are people who actually think Gabi is unfit to be Luna, and I will have to put a stop to it before I let Gabi go to the B***d Rose pack.

She wanted to come last weekend, but with the intruder on our land, and Dana lying about Gabi, I haven’t had time to get it straightened out. I want Gabi to be welcomed into the pack and accepted as my mate and Luna. I don’t want her to have a hard time of it, she has had a hard enough life in her 18 years.

I will not allow a jealous ex to ruin Gabi’s first trip out with lies about Gabi. After I leave after testing, I will have a town hall meeting and let the whole pack know that anyone found to be lying about my mate and their Luna, will be asked to leave the pack, no matter what position they have in the pack.

I went to the back of the SUV to get my bag and look for my phone, but I didn’t see it. I looked at Dana and asked her, “Where is my phone, Dana?”

Dana reaches into her purse and pulls out my phone and turns it back on. She had it the whole time, she lied when I asked for it, and she kept it silent so I wouldn’t hear the text notifications.

I will be talking to her on the way back to our pack, and she surely will not want to be hearing me speak this time around, as I am really angry at how low she is being.

I will be sure to keep my phone on my person or let Gabi hold it when I test.I see Dana looking at me, and she can tell I am mad, and she tries to excuse her lying to my face by touching my arm, and coming close to me and saying, “I just didn’t want you distracted on the way here, you have had a lot on your mind, and I was trying to give you some peace for a little while as you drove here”.

I shrugged her hand off my arm and looked directly at Dana and said, “I have a mate. If you continue on as you have been, I will ban you from my pack. You have been disrespecting your Luna, and I will be dealing with you when we return to the pack”.

Dana looked surprised that I had heard what she had been doing and then put on a bright smile before stroking her hand down my arm and saying, “You used to love me touching you. I rejected my mate for you because we are good together.

The Luna position should have been mine. Not this weak little girl. You need to stop this foolishness and reject her and choose me to be your Chosen Luna. The pack will only be stronger for it”

I look through the windshield and I see Gabi walking away to the packhouse stairs. Dana had seen her looking at us and then took the opportunity to make it seem like we were having an intimate moment together.

I cursed under my breath and slammed the back down on the SUV and turned to Dana and said, “This is your final warning. If you try to come between my mate and me, you won’t survive it. I will kill you and then fight to get her back. You really need to think about this, Dana, because I will not hesitate to kill you over disrespecting my mate”.

Iran after Gabi and stopped her at the bottom of the stairs. “Gabi, wait, stop. I need to speak with you. Dana is just trying to make you jealous, there is nothing going on between us. I just told her if she did anything else, or tried to break us up, that I would end her.

She is just a petty she-wolf, and she has been given her last warning. Depending on what she does from now on, determines her fate. I am sorry she did that to you.

Come on, show me to your room, and then we can go get something to eat, and go back to your room. I need to be well rested for tomorrow. I already know it is going to be tough”.

Gabi nods stiffly at me, and I already know that tonight will be a long night. I see Alpha Heath come out the door and look directly at Dana, and I know that he already knows what Dana has done. I will say that I am glad that Gabi has Heath and Von in her corner, they will always protect her.

I gave Dana too many chances, and I see now from this trip that I shouldn’t have. I just didn’t want to knee-j3rk and be too tough on her, but I see right now, I wasn’t tough enough on her. She has really f****d things up for me, and my pack being willing to accept Gabi as their Luna, because of her allegations.

Tam going to mindlink mom and dad, and my Beta Peter to have an emergency town hall meeting while we are here. They are going to have to get it straightened out tonight, and let people know the truth about Gabi, and that a jealous ex was trying to undermine my mate, and the future Luna of the pack.

I send the mindlink and my mother is furious about hearing about what Dana did, and she said basically what Gabi did about the fact that Dana is probably the mole.

*Mom linked back to me to get my head out of my as*s, and focus on Gabi, and my test while I am there. That she will get the pack straight on their end. Mom will get it straight, and Dana is really in for it when we get back. I am going to think really hard about letting her leave the pack when we get back home.

Gabi enters her room and motions to her closet for me to put my bag away, but instead, I drop my bag and pick her up in my arms and give her a thorough k!ss. It hurts my heart for her to be upset and I want her to know how much I love her and want her, and only her.

I continue to k!ss her until I hear a masculine cough from the hallway and stop to turn and see Heath standing right outside the door. I smiled at him and hugged Gabi to my ch3st, and I saw his gaze soften upon looking at Gabi.

He looked back at me and said, “We need to talk. Let’s go grab some dinner while we do. Also, if your people want to sit with us, especially that hateful woman, it will not be possible, as I will be telling you the different testing options that you could encounter, and that is privileged information.

So, they cannot sit with us while we speak. I will link Von and tell her to stall them with their rooms for the next 20 minutes”.

We headed downstairs and grabbed our food and head to a table for us to eat and talk while we waited for Von. Heath didn’t give me the one that they would do, but it keeps it a little fair. I was given three options for tomorrow.

The Forest option, where I would have to find and take them out one at a time, with the marked weapons, special paintballs with a confirmed death shot), or hand-to-hand with a judge confirming a “kill.

The training field option, where they would be on the training field and the same weapons used, but the targets are easier to see as the training field is level, but the trainers will be able to have their ghillie suits on, and I may not see one of them, and of course, the hand to hand as well.

The third and final option will be the forest/training field, where there will be in the forest and on the training field and I already know this is what is going to happen, as this completely sounds like it will be the hardest one, as they already did the forest one on Gabi, and it didn’t make sense to duplicate it for me.

I already know that this is what is going to happen. I see Gabi is tense as well, and I see she knows that this is also the way that it will play out. The training field would be too easy, as I don’t shoot a whole lot, but it would be harder for them to hide in plain sight, even with their suits, as it is basically flat land, and the lumps in the field would be easy to see.

I squeezed Gabi’s hand to tell her not to worry, and I tried to think of a game plan for what I needed to do. I should have boned up on some target practice instead of just hand-to-hand because after dealing with four of them I will be exhausted tomorrow.

I looked at Gabi and said, “What are the chances you will give me some pointers on shooting, baby? I need some tips and tricks because I haven’t shot a gun in a while. Want to be my teacher?”. Gabi agrees quickly, and we finish our meal so I can make sure I don’t lose tomorrow, because I am realizing right now, that it could be a real possibility.
