Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 67 Alaric Discovers Something

Alaric arrived at the villa to find Harry still sitting on the couch, looking particularly angry.

"Twenty-eight minutes and thirty seconds have passed since I called you," Harry said with a reproachful tone the moment Alaric stepped through the door. "It seems you really do want to starve me to death." "Sorry, Caspian, I got stuck in traffic. I'll make you something to eat right now," Alaric said as he quickly changed his clothes and then headed into the kitchen.

Caspian had previously been distant and not very talkative, which made him challenging to interact with, but eventually, he became more lively. However, ever since he learned about Galatea's car accident, it seemed like he had become even more difficult to handle than before.

It was genuinely giving Alaric a headache!

"Dinner's ready, Caspian. Come and eat," Alaric called out as he put the food on the dining table, speaking to Harry.

"I'm past being hungry. Now I don't even feel like eating," Harry said, grabbing his backpack. As he went upstairs, he added, "You go ahead and eat. I'm going to do my homework."

Alaric, who was frankly furious, quickly followed Harry upstairs.

Harry had just sat down at his desk and was preparing to write when Alaric held down his workbook.

"What?" Harry looked up unhappily. "You won't let me do my homework now? You better not blame me when the teacher wants to talk with you tomorrow."

"Caspian, are you intentionally causing trouble?" Alaric pulled up a stool next to him and tried to communicate patiently. "If there's something bothering you, just say it. Don't be stubborn with me on purpose."

"I'm not," Harry pulled his workbook back from Alaric's hand and began writing, "You're overthinking it. With a dad as rich and respected as you, who can actually cook for me I wouldn't find better if I searched with a lantern. Why would I pick a fight with you?"

Alaric fell silent.

It was like punching a pillow. Alaric felt completely ineffective.

"Then focus on your homework," Alaric said before leaving the room.

After leaving Caspian's study, Alaric found himself without an appetite and went to his own office.

Opening his laptop, he reviewed documents from the last three companies bidding for a project, each comparison making the advantages of Far East International more apparent.

Nevertheless, if they were strong enough to win the project on their merits, why would Gavin return to the country so early and be so eager to meet him? Gavin's attitude seemed to suggest they could only secure the project through backdoor deals, which was puzzling.

Due to a sleepless night the day before, Alaric was indeed tired. Just as he was about to close his laptop, he suddenly noticed a website on the screen.

He had seen today that Galatea was consulting patients online through this site. Alaric opened the site and indeed saw Galatea's picture right on the homepage.

He clicked and read through her medical profile. Her credentials were indeed impressive.

After a while, Alaric clicked on the chat box to talk to a doctor. The system notified him there were ten people ahead of him.

Quite in demand, he thought!

So Alaric casually grabbed a book from the shelf and started reading intently until a notification sound from his computer signaled an incoming message.

"I'm Dr. Galatea from Serenity Heights Medical Center, General Surgery. What seems to be the problem?"

Seeing this message, a smile crept onto Alaric's face. The situation was rather amusing to him.

After thinking for a moment, Alaric quickly typed a response.

"Recently, I've been feeling chest tightness, shortness of breath, fatigue, and I've also been suffering from insomnia. I keep feeling like I'm about to die."

Alaric actually laughed after sending the message. He never thought that one day he would talk such nonsense.

"Have you had any previous illnesses or experienced any major stress?" Given his symptoms, which sounded a lot like depression, Galatea asked him this. After posing her question, she glanced at the clock. It was already 10:30 PM. She had been sitting in front of the computer almost all day and was truly exhausted. She decided that after seeing to this patient, she would rest.

"I asked for medical advice, not a cross-examination of my experiences. What? You're that interested in me?"

Perhaps the recent friction with Caspian had influenced Alaric. he could almost picture the angry and inwardly cursing expression on Galatea's face when she read his message.

"Neurotic!" Galatea outright cursed.

Alaric waited for her reply. It came quickly, a referral to another physician along with a message: "Please consult this specialist."

Checking the referred physician's profile, a bold line stood out - Domestic Authority on Mental Health!

He couldn't help but laugh. this woman's approach was consistent from real life to the digital world, she kept directing him to see a psychiatrist.

Noticing Galatea had logged off, Alaric was about to shut down his laptop to sleep when suddenly he paused. Wait a minute!

He had always assumed Galatea was just sucking up to Caspian to climb the ranks. She had taken Caspian from the hospital and even had dinner with him, yet she adamantly denied it, insisting that he was her son and accusing Alaric of having delusions.

But now that he was really about to get married to her, and she was so resistant, this refuted his earlier thoughts about her ambitions.

If his assumption about her ambitions was false, then why did she insist that the person she dined with was her son?

"Bang!"

Just as Alaric was deep in thought, the sudden sound of a door opening startled him, and standing in the doorway was Harry.

"It's eleven o'clock. Aren't you asleep yet?" Harry chided. "Don't you know as a parent, you have to lead by example? If you stay up this late, how are you supposed to set a good example for me?"

Alaric was grappling with a lot of confusing thoughts, and with his child present, he seized the opportunity to ask for his perspective.

"Caspian, your dad wants to ask you something."

"I already told you it's late. You need to sleep, and so do I."

"Just one thing, it'll be quick." As he spoke, Alaric scooped Harry up in his arms and headed toward the bedroom. While walking, he continued, "Caspian, when was the first time you met Galatea?" What?

Why is he suddenly asking about his mom?

"Why are you asking that?"

"Just curious."

Harold couldn't help but suspect that Alaric doubted his identity. Trying hard to recall the information Caspian had shared with him, Harold responded verbatim, "It was that time at the hospital, and then we went out to eat." "Was that the first time you met?"

"Ah... yeah." At that moment, Harold suddenly felt a wave of panic. Had he been found out?

"Why do you ask?"

Admitting to himself that he felt a bit of panic, Harold wondered if his and Caspian's ruse would lead to a severe scolding from the adults.
