Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 68 The Child Making Decisions on His Own

Now, Alaric had carried Harold into the bedroom and had placed him on the bed. Harold felt especially guilty, scarcely daring to look at him directly. "Dad, why did you suddenly ask me that?"

Seeing Harold's nervous look, Alaric let out a bit of a mischievous smile and continued to question, "I just want to understand why you like her so much. Tell me, what did the two of you talk about the first time you met?"

Silas Moon had informed him that Caspian was missing, and in his worry, he hadn't thought much about it at the time. Now that he reflected on it, the surveillance footage showed Galatea holding Caspian's hand as they walked out of the hospital together.

Galatea's manner had seemed so natural, as if she were just holding her own son's hand. Could it be that there had been a mix-up with the children?

"It's been so long, how can I remember what we talked about..." Harold trailed off and then feigned a yawn before speaking again, "Dad, I'm really tired. I have school tomorrow and if I don't sleep now, I won't be able to get up." "Just one last question," Alaric said. "Caspian, have you ever met Galatea's son?"

What? Galatea's son? But that's me!

"No!" Harry replied very decisively, and then added with a feigned innocence, "Mom's got a kid? That explains why she's so nice to me. Maybe she's just overflowing with maternal love, huh... heh heh."

Overflowing with maternal love? That was a pretty accurate description.

"Alright, Caspian. It's time to sleep. Goodnight," Alaric said gently, then walked out of the room.

After Alaric left, Harry felt very anxious. He wanted to call Caspian, but looking at the time, it was already late, and Caspian was probably already asleep.

Well, he would discuss it tomorrow.

After all, the world hardly ever hears of two identical children switching places. It was all very magical. It was hard to believe such a thing without seeing it with one's own eyes.

The following morning, Galatea got up early to make breakfast for the kids. Mia, now aware of Galatea's car accident, rushed into the kitchen to take over the work.

"Stellan, you're still not well. How can you be cooking?" Mia insisted.

"It's fine, as long as I don't do any heavy lifting, like cooking, it doesn't affect me at all."

"No way!" Mia said firmly, "You need to rest more and not do any work. If you end up with some long-term ailment, how am I going to face your parents?"

When Mia mentioned her parents, Galatea also became emotional and even more appreciative of Mia.

"Mia, thank you so much. I owe you a lot over the years."

"I've watched you grow up since you were little. You're like my own daughter to me. Don't be so formal," Mia said while preparing breakfast. "I was an orphan who didn't get much education, and I dropped out of school at sixteen to become a maid in your home. Your parents were especially kind to us staff, especially me, pitying me for having no family and paying me more than the others. But fate isn't fair. Good people don't always get good rewards!"

Mia was indignant as she spoke up, "I don't understand the ins and outs of the business, but I've been a nanny in your home for so many years; I know what kind of person your dad was. Accusations of illegal operations, selling substandard goods, and economic crimes, I think that's all nonsense. Your dad would never do such things!"

When the storm's event occurred, it was a sudden upheaval, seeming as if her father's alleged crimes had surfaced overnight. Like Mia, she couldn't believe her father was capable of such things.

But the result was her father's suicide. To others, it appeared like a suicide out of guilt.

"And that Ambrose is just despicable! After the storm mishap, he fled faster than anyone else. Such an irresponsible man deserves what's coming to him!"

After Mia fumed and spoke her mind, she suddenly realized something and looked at Galatea with an apologetic expression, "Sorry, why did I bring him up again?"

"It's okay, Mia. It's been so many years, and I've moved on," Galatea said with a smile.

"Yeah, moving on is good. That kind of scum is not worth your time," Mia responded.

"What kind of scum?" At that moment, Elisa, driven by curiosity, poked her head in and asked, "What scum are you guys talking about? Tell me, too."

"You little gossip!" Galatea tapped her on the head gently, "This is grown-up stuff, kids shouldn't pry."

Elisa pouted and said, "Okay, then what's for breakfast?"

"Mia's unique beef sandwich," Galatea boasted, "It's fantastic. I've loved it since I was young."

"Yay!" Elisa cheered excitedly and then said to Caspian as he came out of the bathroom, "Harry, we're having sandwiches for breakfast."

"Alright," Caspian replied and then hurriedly pulled Galatea out of the kitchen and made her sit down on the couch, "Mom, you need to rest. Don't stand for too long." "Got it," Galatea said with a contented smile.

"Oh right, Mom, I forgot to tell you, the school is organizing an event. They say we're going to the countryside for two weeks to experience life there," Caspian shared.

"That sounds wonderful," Galatea responded. "When are you leaving?"

"Tomorrow."

"So soon?"

"Yeah." Caspian was actually thrilled to hear about the activity, wishing he could leave that very day. He had agreed with Harry to switch places for a few days, and if he and Elisa were to go on the trip, he could be Harry for a few more days. "I'll pack for you two."

"No need. We can pack by ourselves. Please don't do any work," Caspian insisted. "Don't worry, Mom. I'll take good care of Elisa while we're out."

Galatea never worried about the kids' ability to take care of themselves.

After the kids packed their own bags, Mia drove them to the school bus the next morning.

Only after they boarded the bus did Caspian send a message to Harry, who was about to burst with frustration.

"Caspian, you jerk!" Harry texted back, "I told you I'd only switch with you for a few days. Now you're taking my sister out for two weeks. That's too much!"

If Harry had been told about the event the day before, he would have definitely found a way to switch back.

What was he to do? He felt that Alaric was starting to suspect something. And he still had to pretend to be Caspian and stay by his side for another half month? That was way too dangerous!
