Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 452 Panic and Fear
Stuart never thought he'd get caught. However, Neil showing up was a lifesaver for Ambrose.
If Neil hadn't come, Bill would've spilled everything, and he probably wouldn't have made it through the night.
But who tipped them off? Was it Tommy?
Ambrose couldn't figure it out yet. He was playing it safe, planning his next move based on how things were going.
After Neil brought them to the station, he split them up into three rooms for questioning.
Having dodged the earlier mess, Ambrose was cool and answered the cops' questions calmly. Bill, though, was still freaking out.
And Stuart? He was totally losing it.
"Who do you think you are?" Stuart yelled. "I discipline my son and my guys, so what? What law says that's illegal? How dare you arrest me! I want my lawyer, I'm gonna sue you, this is an abuse of power!"
Neil just chuckled and said, "Stuart, you're not a kid anymore, give it a rest. Ambrose and Bill already told us you were grilling them tonight because of Todd's death."
Neil went on, "We're handling this case. If you know something, spill it, but taking the law into your own hands and stabbing someone is illegal. If you're not happy, go ahead and sue."
"Why was I interrogating them? Because you guys are useless!" Stuart snapped, "Todd was murdered ages ago, have you given me any answers? Where's the killer? Have you caught them? Useless, you can't find out anything and you won't let me investigate either?"
Just as Stuart finished, Neil's assistant slammed the table, ready to warn him, but Neil stopped him.
"We've been on this case and made some progress. We think Ambrose killed Todd."
Ambrose killed Todd?
"Got any proof? Was it really Ambrose? Show me the evidence!"
Ever since Todd's death, Stuart had been in agony, thinking Todd was his only son.
If Ambrose killed Todd, Stuart would definitely take him out himself!
"We have some evidence, but we can't show you until the case is closed. But don't worry, Todd's killer won't get away."
After Neil finished, he told his subordinate, "Alright, we've got what we need, let them go."
"Let them go?" His subordinate was shocked. "Really?"
"They've been taught a lesson, and once they pay the fine, they can leave." With that, Neil got up and walked out. His subordinate was confused but followed orders. Stuart got out early, but Ambrose and Bill stayed at the station.
Far East International was pretty high-profile, and Stuart, Ambrose, and Bill getting taken away by cops in the middle of the night was definitely gonna make the news. Cormac stumbled upon the news and immediately dialed Alaric.
Alaric was having breakfast with Stellan, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa when Stellan handed him his buzzing phone.
"It's Cormac."
"Did you catch the news?"
"What news?" Alaric's phone had been taken away, and he avoided the computer when Stellan was around, so what news could he have seen?
"Last night, Neil hauled Stuart, Ambrose, and one of Stuart's guys to the station. They said Stuart was doing his own interrogation. Looks like Stuart bought what you said."
If Stuart and Ambrose started turning on each other, it would be perfect for him.
"If it was a private interrogation, how did Neil find out?"
"No clue, but since you're tight with him now, why not just ask him if you're curious?"
Alaric didn't answer. He wanted to steer clear of Neil as much as possible.
"But Neil's pretty gutsy. While everyone else avoids someone as powerful and dangerous as Stuart, he takes him head-on. Maybe he won't ignore Orion's case if you tell him about it..." Cormac kept rambling, but Alaric wasn't listening.
Alaric knew Neil's style well. He was bold and principled, afraid of no one.
This worried him the most. His eyes drifted to Stellan.
What if Neil found out and confirmed that Stellan accidentally pushed Marigold?
He'd definitely arrest Stellan and send him to prison. If Stellan went to prison, then... "Alaric?"
Hearing Cormac calling him, Alaric snapped back and asked, "What?"
"I've been talking to you, were you even listening?"
"If you have time to browse your phone and watch the news while taking care of Rowena in the hospital, you might as well stop taking care of her and go back to work!"
With that, Alaric hung up, leaving Cormac to grumble. "You're so petty. I'm not here to rat you out. You got into a fight, got chewed out by your wife, and now you're taking it out on me." Stellan didn't know what Cormac had said, but it was clear Alaric's mood had soured after the call.
"What's wrong? Did something happen with Cormac?" Stellan asked quickly.
"No." Alaric glanced at his phone and then said to Stellan, "Galatea, even on treatment days, I don't react that badly anymore. Let me keep my phone."
"Okay."
Since Alaric asked, Stellan had to agree. But why did he suddenly want his phone back when he hadn't before?
Stellan felt there was a reason, but she couldn't guess what it was since Alaric stayed silent.
"Caspian, Harry, Elisa, enjoy breakfast with your mom, then head to school." Alaric then said to Stellan, "Galatea, after breakfast, you should go to the office. Take your time eating, I'm going to the study." Seeing him head upstairs, Stellan quickly asked, "You're not eating? You didn't even finish your meal."
"I'm done, you all take your time." With that, Alaric went upstairs.
His behavior made Stellan uneasy. What was he hiding?
