Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 451 Die Alone or Take Your Whole Family with You?
After getting back from the cemetery, Stuart called Ambrose into his office.
"Dad, you gotta believe me. Don't let Alaric fool you!" Alaric pleaded.
"Who's lying? I'll figure it out!" Stuart snapped.
Just then, Bill walked in. Ambrose's heart skipped a beat. Had Bill already spilled the beans?
He shouldn't have. They were both in deep trouble. If Bill confessed, it was game over for both of them.
"Mr. Vale, you wanted to see me?" Bill asked, already sensing what was coming.
"Yeah," Stuart said, eyeing both Ambrose and Bill. "Of the three people that night, only Denny is missing."
"Didn't Denny quit and go home?" Bill asked, trying to sound casual.
"Did he quit and go home, or was he killed?" Stuart shot back.
Ambrose quickly jumped in to clarify, "Dad, Denny just left a resignation letter and vanished. I'm looking for him too. Why would he be killed?"
"Exactly, Mr. Vale," Bill added. "Denny was loyal to Ambrose. If anyone should've been killed, it would've been me. Why Denny?"
"Bill, you've been with me for years. I trusted you enough to put you with Todd. You failed to protect him, and that's already a death sentence. If you're helping Ambrose lie to me, it won't just be you who dies. Think about your family..."
"Mr. Vale!" Bill interrupted, panicking. "I'd never lie to you. Please, investigate thoroughly!"
"Oh, I will. Neil's already on it and he has some evidence. He came to see me last time," Stuart said.
"Bill, this is your last chance. Tell me what really happened that night. If you confess, only you will die. If I find out you're lying, your whole family will die. Your choice!"
"Dad, this is Alaric's trap. You can't..." Ambrose started.
"Shut up!" Stuart barked. "I'm talking to Bill!"
Ambrose had no choice but to stay quiet, watching Bill anxiously. Stuart was trying to scare him into talking.
Ambrose worried Bill might crack under the pressure and confess, dooming them both.
"Speak!" Stuart demanded, pulling out a dagger and pressing it to Bill's neck.
Ambrose sighed, closing his eyes briefly. He had a bad feeling about this. His mind raced, thinking of what to do if Bill confessed.
"Talk! If you don't, I'll slit your throat and let you bleed out!" Stuart threatened, pressing the blade harder. Blood started to trickle. "I'll talk," Bill finally said, unable to take the pressure.
Hearing Bill's words, Ambrose could almost taste the blood in the air and felt the chill of death creeping in.
"That night, actually..."
Just as Bill started to spill, the office door flew open, and Tommy barged in.
Stuart, already on edge, lost it. "Who the hell let you in? Get out..."
"Me!" Neil's voice cut through the tension as he walked in with a bunch of cops, guns drawn.
"We got an anonymous tip about a crime happening here tonight."
Neil's eyes landed on Bill, who was on the floor, blood soaking his shirt.
"Stuart, what are you doing? Playing cop now? Isn't that our job?" Neil said, his tone icy. "Since when do businessmen handle interrogations?"
"This is an internal matter," Stuart said, trying to play it cool. "Ambrose was acting up, and this guy's been out of it lately. Just teaching them a lesson. Who the hell called the cops? Sorry to drag you out here, Officer Neil." "No trouble at all. We're on duty 24/7."
"Yeah, but I care about you guys. No need to come out for small stuff like this," Stuart said, forcing a smile.
"Small stuff?" Neil's face hardened. "Stuart! Do you know where you are? This is the United States, not some lawless wasteland where you can do whatever you want!"
Neil continued, "Even if he's your employee and messed up, the law deals with that. Who gave you the right to hurt him?"
Neil turned to his officers, "Take them all away!"
Stuart's face turned red with anger. "Neil, are you serious? You're arresting me?"
"You are now accused of intentional injury. Of course, I'm arresting you. I will investigate thoroughly."
Neil's officers moved in to cuff Stuart, but he tried to dodge.
"Neil, do you know who I am? You really think you can arrest me?"
"If you break the law, I don't care who you are. Cuff him!" Neil ordered.
His officers didn't hesitate. They cuffed Stuart and took all three of them away.
After they left, Neil followed but then came back.
He walked up to Tommy, who was still standing there, and patted his shoulder. "Thanks for the tip, I appreciate it."
With that, he patted him again and walked out. Tommy didn't say a word, just watched them leave, his eyes growing darker.
