Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 450 That Long-Awaited Kiss
Hearing Stellan's words, Cormac was at a loss for words, while Alaric started giving him frantic eye signals.
However, Stellan caught Alaric's little tricks, which only made her more suspicious.
"Cormac, what really happened?" Stellan asked, her voice tinged with worry.
"Did something go down at the funeral, Cormac?" Rowena chimed in, equally concerned.
There was no way to lie, so Cormac had to spill the beans. "At the funeral today, Stuart and Ambrose showed up with a bunch of people to cause trouble, and then Alaric got into a fight with them." Hearing this, Alaric wanted to punch Cormac. What a snitch!
"You fought with Stuart and Ambrose?" Stellan asked, surprised.
"They started it," Alaric said, sounding like a kid caught doing something wrong.
"Then why didn't you call the cops? Why fight them? Are you hurt?" Stellan scanned him anxiously.
"No injuries, don't worry."
"You fought too?" Rowena asked Cormac, her voice full of worry.
"I didn't, honey, don't worry. Only Alaric fought them."
Alaric shouted, "Cormac!" He was mad at at him for tattling that he felt like killing him.
Alaric met Stellan's sharp gaze again and shut his mouth.
As soon as they got home, Alaric sneezed, and Stellan quickly touched his forehead. "Luckily, no fever. Go take a shower and then take some cold medicine."
Alaric sighed; his body was really weak now, catching a cold just from getting rained on.
After a hot shower, Alaric came out of the bathroom, and Stellan handed him the cold medicine.
"Take it, now."
Seeing Alaric take the medicine, Caspian asked, "Daddy, weren't you just getting injections recently? Why are you taking medicine again?"
"Ask him!" Stellan was really pissed now and scolded Alaric directly, "Alaric, you're thirty, not a kid, and you're still getting into fights? Do you know your health condition? Why didn't Cormac fight? Why did you have to show off?" Stellan continued, "You know you're in a critical stage of treatment and should be resting. Letting you go out was already lenient, and you got rained on and fought?"
"Do you realize that your health affects all of us? You have a family. You're our support. If your health collapses, what will we do? Have you thought about that?"
Stellan's sudden fierceness scared Caspian, Harry, and Elisa, but they got it.
"Mommy, Daddy didn't fight on purpose, you don't have to..."
"Shut up!" Stellan snapped at Elisa, "Go do what you need to do!"
Harry quickly covered Elisa's mouth and led her to the study, with Caspian following.
"Mommy is so fierce." Elisa had never seen Stellan so angry. Harry said, "When Mom is mad, it's best not to provoke her. Let Daddy handle it alone; it's better than involving us." "Good point," Caspian said seriously.
So Caspian, Harry, and Elisa obediently did their homework in the study for a bit, and then, behaving like sweet children, hit the sack.
Alaric was really feeling the cold now. He lay in bed while Stellan scolded him and not-so-gently massaged him.
"Caspian, Harry, and Elisa never made me worry like you do. Doctors hate dealing with stubborn patients, and it's even worse when the patient is my husband and the father of my kids..."
Stellan kept on scolding, and Alaric just watched her.
He had known her for so long and had never heard her talk so much, like a machine gun firing non-stop.
But he knew her anger came from care and love.
"If you act recklessly like this again, I won't treat you anymore, I'll let you..."
Before Stellan could finish, Alaric pulled her into his arms and kissed her, not giving her a chance to breathe. Stellan shivered; she couldn't remember the last time they kissed, at least not since Marigold passed away. There was a vague sense of detachment and the inaudible sound of a breaking heart.
So Stellan felt a mix of emotions, closing her eyes and staying in the small space he created.
Like a drop of water merging into the sea, surrounded and cherished, suffocating yet willing to dive deeper. Alaric kissed her for a long time, leaving Stellan blushing.
"This time it was my fault, I was too impulsive. It won't happen again. I promise." Alaric sincerely admitted.
"Alright," Stellan seemed still flustered from the kiss, "As long as you know you were wrong, don't let it happen again." "Not angry anymore?"
Knowing full well! Alaric was really bad, using such tactics. How could she stay mad?
"Considering it's your first mistake, I'll let it slide this time. But if it happens again, I won't be lenient!" Stellan said.
Alaric responded, "Okay, it won't happen again."
Alaric looked at her, thinking about Hestia's and Neil's words.
He was really scared that if Neil found out Stellan accidentally caused Marigold's fall, Neil would arrest her.
If that happened, Alaric wouldn't know how to face her.
"Galatea," Alaric called her softly.
"I want to ask you something, but promise you won't get mad, okay?"
"What is it? Ask first, and I'll see if I'll get mad."
Alaric wanted to ask if she accidentally caused Marigold's fall, but after struggling for a while, he couldn't bring himself to ask.
He knew bringing it up would affect their relationship.
"Nothing. It's late, let's sleep."
Stellan felt frustrated by his teasing and asked, "What do you want to ask? Don't leave me hanging."
"Really, it's nothing. Don't overthink it, grumbler, let's sleep."
"You called me a grumbler? You're the grumbler! If you didn't do anything wrong, why would I scold you?"
"Yes, I'm the grumbler, I did wrong." Alaric admitted his mistake and hugged her.
He decided not to ask, never bringing it up again.
Alaric and Stellan peacefully fell asleep, but Ambrose had a rough night.
