Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 444 More Trouble Amidst the Chaos
Seeing Griffon in such bad shape, the doctor rushed over to help, but it was already too late.
Even with all the equipment, Griffon couldn't speak. His eyes were half-open, staring at Rowena with deep emotion.
"This is Rowena. Do you remember her?" Cormac asked straight up.
If he hadn't hurt Rowena so much back then, maybe their relationship wouldn't have fallen apart.
Griffon couldn't talk, but his reaction showed he remembered.
"She's my wife now. We got married, and she's pregnant"
After hearing Cormac's words, a faint smile appeared on Griffon's pained face. Was he smiling? Cormac couldn't believe it. Was he happy for Griffon?
But soon, Griffon couldn't smile anymore as the pain got worse, making him look really distressed.
Seeing him like this, Rowena couldn't bear to watch. Cormac quickly said to her, "Rowena, I'll have the driver take you home. Don't stay here."
"Okay." Rowena nodded quickly. She admitted she was really scared. Is this what it's like to be on the brink of death?
After Rowena left, Griffon got more and more uncomfortable. The doctor, unable to do anything more, said to Cormac, "The patient only has a little time left."
Cormac suddenly realized something and leaned close to Griffon's ear, whispering, "Dad, I won't hate you anymore. I'm doing well now, and the Nash Family has descendants. I will find out the truth about Orion's death and make sure she rests in peace. Don't worry."
Hearing this, Griffon smiled again. He couldn't remember the last time Cormac had called him "Dad." And now, Cormac promised to investigate Orion's death. So he had no more regrets.
He exhaled his final breath, and the torment on his face gradually froze into an icy stillness. Cormac stood by the bedside, motionless and silent for a long time.
Stellan's heart sank, overwhelmed by a torrent of indescribable emotions.
"Cormac, take a few days to rest." Stellan tried to comfort him.
With Griffon's departure, Cormac had to handle his funeral, so he needed some time to gather his strength. Since Cormac was busy and couldn't take care of Rowena, Stellan went to see Rowena right after finishing her work.
As soon as she entered, she saw Rowena looking very uncomfortable, which startled her. She hurried over and asked, "What's wrong, Rowena? Where do you feel unwell?"
"Since coming back from the hospital, I've had a bit of a stomachache."
"Why didn't you go to the hospital? You're in the early stages of pregnancy. Stomach pain is serious. I'll take you to the hospital right away." Stellan quickly took her to the hospital.
After the doctor examined her, the result was a threatened miscarriage, and she had to be hospitalized. Stellan immediately arranged for her admission.
"Stellan, it's a good thing you came in time. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable." Rowena hadn't expected it to be a threatened miscarriage; she thought it was just a simple stomachache. "You really scared me. You need to get proper treatment. You must stay in bed for the first three months of pregnancy," Stellan said.
"Stay in bed for the first three months?" Rowena felt a headache coming on.
With Griffon just passing away, Cormac was already overwhelmed, and now she was adding to his troubles.
"Of course. If you don't take care of a threatened miscarriage, you could lose the baby," Stellan said.
Rowena gently cradled her belly. Both she and Cormac were so happy about this baby. She couldn't let anything happen to it.
"I'll stay in bed, but Stellan, please don't tell Cormac, at least not for the next two days. Otherwise, he'll be even more worried."
"I know. I'll call Cormac and tell him I took you to my place for a couple of days so he won't worry."
"Thank you, Stellan."
"I'm the godmother of this child. No need to be so formal with me."
Stellan first called Cormac and lied to put his mind at ease, then called the house phone.
"Threatened miscarriage?" Alaric was shocked to hear about Rowena's condition.
"Yes, we haven't told Cormac yet. If he asks, just say Rowena is at our place," Stellan continued. "Alaric, I'll be at the hospital taking care of Rowena for the next couple of days, so I won't be home. Take care of yourself." "Don't worry. I'm feeling good today. You take care of her, but don't overexert yourself," Alaric advised.
"Got it."
After hanging up, Stellan returned to the hospital room. Rowena was feeling a bit regretful.
"It's all my fault. Cormac didn't want me to go to the hospital, but I was worried about him and went anyway. I must have been really scared by Griffon's condition," Rowena said. Griffon had been her nightmare for many years, and seeing him in such a painful and grim state had truly frightened her.
"I'm not helping Cormac at all, just causing him more trouble," Rowena felt particularly guilty.
"How can you blame yourself? Besides, the threatened miscarriage isn't because of that. Just take care of yourself and get proper treatment. It's not that serious. Don't overthink it." "Okay."
Stellan added, "Pregnant women need plenty of rest. Go to bed early tonight."
Rowena nodded again and prepared to sleep.
Once Rowena was asleep, Stellan lay down on the companion bed. Just as she was about to fall asleep, a phone rang. It wasn't her phone; it was Alaric's.
The call was from Neil. Seeing his name, Stellan hesitated but answered.
Neil, being impatient, spoke before Stellan could say anything, "Alaric, I need to tell you something. Be prepared; it's about Stellan."
About her? What about her?
Stellan was about to listen closely, but Neil suddenly stopped talking and asked, "Are you listening? Are you feeling unwell?"
For a moment, Stellan didn't know how to respond. She had to muster the courage to speak, "Officer Neil, it's me."
Stellan?
Neil wanted to slap himself. How could it be Stellan answering the phone?
So, she heard everything he just said?
"It's you? Where's Alaric?" Neil felt extremely awkward.
"He's in a critical treatment period, so I don't want him to be disturbed by the phone. I'm holding onto it."
Neil was speechless. He had been careless!
"You mentioned something about me? Can I ask what it is?" Stellan inquired.
