Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 437 What's So Special About Today

Alaric was going through Tommy's file with a fine-tooth comb. The kid was a real brainiac.

But the person bankrolling him? Alaric had a gut feeling it wasn't simple. If it was Josep, and he was pushing Tommy to get close to them, then Josep had some kind of agenda. If it wasn't Josep, and Tommy was still using Josep to get in with them, then whoever was behind Tommy was even more of a big deal.

Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Stellan's voice came from outside. "What are you guys doing in there? Locking the door in your own house?"

Alaric quickly shut down the computer. Elisa opened the door and smiled at Stellan, "Mom, we're just hitting the books hard."

Hitting the books hard?

"Alright, you three keep at it." Stellan said to Alaric, "You are getting your treatment injection tomorrow, so hit the sack early tonight."

"Got it." Alaric stood up and told Caspian, Harry, and Elisa, "Your mom and I are going to bed. Finish up your homework and get some sleep."

"Okay!"

Caspian, Harry, and Elisa watched them leave. Harry turned to Caspian, "How about it? My hacking skills are pretty sick, right?"

"Totally sick," Caspian said, "I'm off to bed. You can keep showing off to Elisa."

"I'm going to bed too. Wait up, Caspian." Elisa quickly ran out.

Harry pouted and muttered to himself, "Some people just can't handle others being better than them."

Alaric and Stellan went back to their bedroom. After lying down, Stellan suddenly asked, "Alaric, what do you think about having another kid, like you mentioned to the kids?" Alaric didn't see that coming and answered seriously, "Didn't we already talk about this? If you don't want to, then we won't. We've got three kids already; why add more to the mix?"

"And your real thoughts? I don't want another one, but what about you?"

"Honestly, I feel the same. It's just..." Alaric said seriously, "It's just that I regret not being there for you during your pregnancy and missing out on our babies' birth." After saying this, Alaric worried Stellan might overthink and quickly added, "I don't mean we should have another one. I'm just saying I genuinely feel regretful." Thinking back to the whole pregnancy, Marigold treated her very well for the babies' sake. She didn't suffer any grievances during her pregnancy, but later... "Let's not dwell on it; it's all in the past." Alaric knew she was thinking about those dark times and said, "Let's sleep. Good night."

"Good night," Stellan said softly.

After that, Alaric pulled her close, turned off the light, and they closed their eyes. Another night passed.

At some point, the quiet nights had been filled with a sense of distance. Was it just Stellan overthinking?

However, they both slept relatively well that night. Since Alaric would have his treatment injection the next day, Stellan got up early. "This time, it's been a week, so the side effects should be milder," Alaric said.

"Just over three months to go. Hang in there, Alaric," Stellan encouraged him.

"Okay."

As Stellan prepared to give him the injection, Alaric suddenly thought of something and asked, "Galatea, can I ask you a question?" "What?" Stellan asked as she was ready to give him the injection.

"Does Ambrose smoke?"

Stellan was totally caught off guard by Alaric's question.

"Why are you asking that out of the blue?" Stellan was puzzled.

"Neil mentioned there's a new lead in Todd's case. Whether Ambrose smokes might be a key detail, so I wanted to check with you."

Stellan was surprised that something like smoking could be crucial to the case, but if Neil said it, there had to be a reason.

"Ambrose never smokes. Not at all," Stellan confirmed.

Back when they were dating, Ambrose didn't smoke at all.

Since Stellan was so sure, it was clear Ambrose didn't smoke. He probably never thought his elaborate plan would unravel over such a tiny detail. "Got it." Alaric was pleased with the clear answer. "Let's get this injection over with."

Seeing Alaric so happy, Stellan figured they must have found some critical evidence. Once Ambrose was brought to justice, she could finally relax.

Neil was also thrilled to learn that Ambrose didn't smoke. The case had been stuck for a while, and he was getting frustrated.

He had watched the relevant surveillance footage thousands of times and worked with various technicians to enhance the video's clarity, finally yielding results.

That day, Neil headed straight to Far East International with his assistant. Stuart had been traveling between domestic and international locations, and today he happened to be at the domestic office. When Neil arrived, Tommy immediately reported to Ambrose, "Mr. Vale, Neil is here."

Neil was here?

The name Ambrose dreaded hearing the most, besides Alaric, was Neil. After all, Neil was in charge of Todd's case and was relentless in his pursuit of the truth. "Tell him I'm busy and can't see him."

"It seems he's not here to see you; he's here to see Mr. Stuart Vale."

"What?" Hearing that Neil was here to see Stuart, Ambrose felt a pang of anxiety and guilt. "Why is he suddenly looking for Stuart?"

With that, Ambrose quickly got up and walked out.

Neil, being the detective in charge of Todd's case, Stuart certainly wouldn't refuse to see him.

Upon seeing Neil, Stuart was also angry and sarcastically said, "I thought you had forgotten about my son's case. Turns out you still remember?"

"Stuart, what are you talking about? I'm the head of the task force for Todd's death case. How could I forget, let alone dare to forget?"

Neil said as he opened his phone to show the surveillance video, "I'm here today to ask you something that might help solve the case. Take a look at this surveillance footage."

Stuart looked at the footage and said disdainfully, "The quality is so poor. What am I supposed to see?"

"The footage is indeed not very clear, but you should recognize your own son, right? Look closely. Is the person in the footage Ambrose?"

Stuart glanced at it. Since it was just a blurry back view, he wasn't very sure. "It should be, why?"

Neil questioned, "What do you mean 'should be'? It's either yes or no. Please look carefully. Is this Ambrose or not? This is very important. If you give a definite answer, I can tell you who the killer is right now." Hearing Neil say this, Stuart immediately became serious, rubbed his eyes, and looked carefully.

"Detective Jackson, what brings you here today?" At this moment, Ambrose pushed the door open and walked in.
