Chapter 433 The Completely Worry-Free Caspian, Harry, and Elisa

As Stellan assumed, Alaric had a pretty rough reaction to the meds after his treatment shot this time.

Caspian, Harry, and Elisa didn't have school today, so they were hanging out in the bedroom. Caspian, always the thoughtful one, said, "Dad, if you're feeling bad, just let us know. Don't tough it out alone." Hearing Caspian's words, Alaric felt really touched and smiled, saying, "It's not too bad. It'll pass soon. You three should go do your thing. Harry, weren't you going to help me dig into Tommy's background?" "Harry, you should go. Caspian and I will take care of Dad," Elisa chimed in.

"Okay." Since Alaric said so, Harry quickly agreed. He couldn't do much else, but he could handle this, so he left.

Not long after Harry left, Alaric started feeling worse. His whole body ached like crazy, and he felt super nauseous but couldn't throw up. Then he started to get a fever, feeling dizzy and lightheaded. "Dad." Seeing him in such pain, Elisa felt heartbroken. She immediately lay in his arms and said, "You used to tell me stories when I went to sleep. Now, let me tell you a story, okay?"

"Sure," Alaric responded, then closed his eyes.

Elisa began telling him the story of Cinderella. Alaric wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying, but her voice was a great comfort to him.

Listening to Elisa's voice, Alaric felt his consciousness began to drift. The fever made him feel like he was floating, as if he were dreaming, yet it felt real.

It seemed like he was seeing the nightmare he had last night. Marigold was standing by his bed with a pained and twisted expression. "Alaric, I'm your mother. How could you treat me like this? I really can't rest in peace!" Then Marigold's sobs echoed in his ears, refusing to go away.

"Dad?" Seeing Alaric mumbling in his sleep, Caspian worriedly held his hand and called out to him.

"Dad, can you hear me?" Caspian called out again, but Alaric didn't respond. Caspian was really scared.

"Dad's head is so hot. What should we do?" Elisa touched Alaric's forehead and felt it was burning. She was really frightened.

"Mom said if Dad's fever goes above 100.4°F, he needs to take fever reducers. Let's take his temperature first." Caspian quickly took out a thermometer.

They hurriedly took Alaric's temperature. It was 102.2°F. Caspian quickly said, "Give Dad the pills."

"Mom." Alaric was really out of it from the fever, unable to hear what Caspian and Elisa were saying. All he could see was Marigold's shadow flickering before his eyes. "Caspian, Dad seems to be calling for our mean grandma? Is he missing her?" Elisa asked.

"Elisa, even though I really dislike her too, she was still Dad's biological mother and had passed away. Let's address her by just 'Grandma', okay?" Caspian said. "Okay."

They gave Alaric the fever reducers. After taking it, Alaric felt a bit better and finally fell asleep.

Meanwhile, at the company, Stellan was feeling uneasy. She knew Alaric must be feeling terrible right now, but there was nothing she could do to help. "Isn't Alaric getting his treatment shot today? Why are you here?" Cormac asked when he saw Stellan show up early.

"He sent me away. He didn't want me to see him in pain, so I had to respect that," Stellan replied.

"But is it really okay to leave him alone at home?"

"Caspian, Harry, and Elisa are there. Even though they're young, they've gotten pretty good at taking care of Alaric during their breaks. It's all good."

Cormac sighed heavily, "I hope Alaric gets better soon. By the way, there's some good news. I got a call this morning saying the approval came through. The project can resume." "Really?" Stellan was genuinely happy to hear this. "That's awesome."

"Yeah, I'll head to the site later to check things out. We can't afford any more setbacks this time."

"Thanks for your hard work."

"That's all right, I'll head out now," Cormac said and then left.

Now alone in the office, Stellan quickly took out her phone to call Caspian.

Seeing her call, Caspian stepped out of the bedroom to answer, "Mom."

"How's your dad doing?" Stellan asked worriedly.

"Same old, same old. He had a high fever earlier, but after taking the medicine, he's sleeping now. Mom, don't worry. We're here."

Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were really stepping up. Having them there made Stellan feel a lot better.

"Okay, thank you. Call me if anything happens."

"Got it, Mom."

Stellan put down her phone and was about to start working when she heard Alaric's phone notification.

She took it out and saw an email with the subject "Investigation Results."

The email was encrypted. Stellan tried several passwords but couldn't open it.

She wondered if Alaric was really investigating something.

Last night, when she asked, Alaric's reaction was a bit evasive.

Was he still looking for witnesses to Marigold's fall?

If so, did Alaric never really trust her?

Alaric had a deep sleep and woke up feeling like he had taken a bath, drenched in sweat.

"Dad." As soon as he woke up, he heard Elisa's soft voice by his ear.

"Elisa," Alaric replied.

Elisa finally felt relieved and said, "Dad, you're finally awake. You seemed to be dreaming and kept calling for Grandma."

Was he calling for Marigold? It wasn't surprising. In his delirious state, he kept seeing Marigold flickering before his eyes.

"So everyone calls for their mom when they're in pain. I thought it was just me," Elisa said.

"Elisa," Caspian immediately reminded her. Elisa quickly covered her mouth with her small hand. Did she say something wrong again?

"Mr. Knight, Detective Jackson is here to see you," Mia knocked and reported.

Neil? It had been a while since Alaric last saw him.

"Let him in," Alaric said.

"Okay," Mia said and left.

"You two should go rest. I'll talk to Neil," Alaric told Caspian and Elisa.

"Okay." They left and saw Neil walking over.

"Uncle Neil," Caspian quickly said, "My dad just had his treatment shot today. He just woke up and is still very weak. Please don't talk to him for too long. Thank you."
