Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 431 Alaric, I Can't Rest in Peace!

"Just some boring movies," he said, trying to hide the fact that he was still keeping tabs on Far East International. "Alright," Stellan replied, glancing at the dark computer screen. She didn't push him since he clearly didn't want to talk. "Dinner's ready. Why aren't you coming down to eat?" Stellan asked.

"Okay, let's go eat." Alaric got up, wrapped his arm around Stellan, and they headed downstairs together.

They sat at the dining table. The kids had boxing class today and would be home late, so it was just the two of them.

"Was work busy today?" Alaric asked.

"Not too bad, manageable."

"That's good." Alaric casually asked, "Did I get any calls today?"

Stellan hesitated but decided to be honest. "There was a call from an unknown number. I answered, but they hung up immediately. No idea who it was."

"Probably just a spam call. Don't worry about it."

"Alright," Stellan responded lightly. After eating for a bit, she couldn't help but ask, "Alaric, are you investigating something recently?"

Alaric felt a bit guilty. He already knew about the threatening letter, but Stellan didn't know he knew. And Harry had taken control of all the surveillance at Far East International. He could see everything happening there daily, but he couldn't let her know that.

"No. You told me to do nothing and focus on recovering. How could I not listen to you?"

"Alright," Stellan responded mechanically, not saying anything more.

She didn't know exactly what Hestia had said to him while crying, and Alaric hadn't brought it up, so she didn't ask.

"After dinner, take a good bath and go to bed early. You have another treatment injection tomorrow, and it will likely have a stronger reaction than the recent ones," Stellan said.

"I know, I'm prepared for it." Alaric joked, "I'll probably be lying in bed like a half-dead person for at least two days."

Hearing him joke like this made Stellan feel even worse. She held his hand and said, "It'll be over soon. Once you're cured, you won't have to suffer anymore."

"Okay," Alaric nodded with a smile.

After dinner, they took a walk in the yard, then took a bath together and lay down in the bed.

"Goodnight, Alaric," Stellan said softly, lying in his arms.

"Goodnight." Alaric gave Stellan a goodnight kiss and closed his eyes.

Stellan couldn't fall asleep. She opened her eyes and looked at Alaric, who had his eyes closed, wondering if he was really asleep.

She watched him closely, lying in his arms, yet still felt a sense of distance.

Stellan closed her eyes, trying to force herself to sleep. The night was unusually quiet, with moonlight casting a soft glow on their faces.

But soon, Alaric's sleep turned restless. He was having a nightmare.

"Alaric, you're so heartless!" In the dream, Marigold was covered in blood, clutching his clothes and crying bitterly, full of resentment. "Alaric, I raised you with so much effort, and this is how you treat me. I was killed by Stellan, and you're still sleeping with her!"

As Marigold spoke, a pair of giant hands appeared behind her, grabbing her clothes and pulling her back.

Alaric frantically grabbed Marigold's hand, trying to pull her back, but he couldn't fight the strength of those hands. He watched helplessly as she was dragged away.

Marigold screamed, "Alaric, I can't rest in peace! Save me, Alaric!"

"Mom!" Alaric shouted. He ran desperately in the dream, trying to help, but he couldn't catch up.

"Alaric?" Hearing Alaric's shout, Stellan hurriedly turned on the bedside lamp and saw Alaric with his eyes closed, frowning in fear.

"Alaric, wake up!" Stellan tried to wake him from his nightmare.

"Mom!" Hearing Stellan's voice, Alaric shouted and woke up from the nightmare.

He was drenched in sweat, breathing heavily as if he had been scared.

Seeing him like this and hearing his shouts, Stellan knew he had dreamed of Marigold.

She didn't need to ask to know Marigold must have been cursing her, saying she couldn't rest in peace.

"Alaric, are you okay?" Stellan asked.

Alaric looked at her in a daze, and Marigold's words echoed in his mind.

"Alaric?" Seeing Alaric still in a daze, Stellan called him again.

Alaric snapped back to reality but was still breathing heavily.

"No... nothing," Alaric mumbled. "Just a nightmare. Go back to sleep."

"Okay." Stellan watched him close his eyes again before turning off the bedside lamp.

She knew Alaric couldn't sleep now, and it made her feel terrible. Although she hadn't pushed Marigold, Marigold had fallen during their argument. She was indirectly responsible for her death. Stellan feared Alaric wouldn't believe her. After all, there were no witnesses or evidence, only her word. She was really frustrated.

She barely slept the rest of the night. In a half-asleep state, she heard Alaric get up. She pretended to be asleep and heard him get out of bed.

Stellan secretly opened her eyes and saw him walk to the window and light a cigarette.
