Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 409 There Will Be a Rift in Their Hearts
In the office, Ambrose stood in front of Stuart, head down, barely breathing.
Stuart snapped, "Ambrose, what the hell is going on here?"
Ambrose mumbled, "Sorry, Dad, it's gotta be Alaric's doing."
"Obviously!" Stuart barked. "Is this what you've done since taking over? The deal was set, Alaric's jewelry company isn't even up and running, and he still snatched our partner. What are you doing?" Ambrose just kept his head down, speechless.
Stuart glared at him. "Remember, I want you to get back at Todd. You got less than five months. If you can't do it, you're out as chairman of Far East International. Plenty of others can take your place. Got it?" Ambrose nodded. "Got it."
"Then get out of my sight!" Stuart yelled.
"Yes." Ambrose left the office, looking defeated. Tommy was waiting outside and had heard everything.
"You heard all that?" Ambrose asked.
"Yeah," Tommy replied, "Alaric's a tough nut to crack. Once he sets his mind on something, no one can change it."
Just like this time, Alaric didn't hesitate to piss off Josep to get Tommy fired, not letting him stay at Nexus Innovations for even a day longer.
Far East International had a deal with a big-name jewelry brand to launch a concept line, but today the brand called to cancel.
The reason was simple: they were an international brand that cared about their rep, and the way the Vale family's jewelry company got their assets was shady.
They were scared that working with them would mess up their own rep, so they chose to cancel the deal and swore never to work with them again.
"I don't know what Nexus Innovations told the brand, but they got them to drop us. It's infuriating!" Ambrose was fuming. "If they mess with me, I'll return the favor. With such a big safety issue, his jewelry company's project won't resume!" "That's easy. In the internet age, even a small issue can blow up. If Nexus Innovations resumes work now, we can expose it online. We won't even need to do much; netizens will report it themselves," Tommy said. Ambrose nodded. "Exactly. If that doesn't work, we'll stir up more trouble. We can't let him off easy."
Tommy was quiet for a bit before he asked, "Mr. Vale, have you always had feelings for Stellan?"
Ambrose didn't know how to answer. He wanted to lie, but he couldn't fool himself. "So what if I do? She wishes I were dead. I know that even if I got her, it wouldn't matter. I could have her body but not her heart."
Tommy said, "I think you still got a shot, Mr. Vale. Even though I wasn't at Nexus Innovations for long, I picked up on some stuff. Despite their lovey-dovey act, after Marigold's death and the recent safety mess at Nexus Innovations, there's a crack between them. Once that crack's there, it's hard to fix. Like, with Marigold's death-no witnesses. No one can say for sure if Marigold fell by accident or if Stellan's screw-up caused it."
Tommy went on, "After all, it's his biological mom. Can Alaric really be 100% sure Stellan's not lying? Probably not. If it was Stellan's fault, no matter how tight they are, that's not something you admit easily." Ambrose looked at Tommy and asked, "So, you got some plans?"
"Nothing solid. Alaric's a tough opponent. I'm not 100% sure, but we can give it a shot," Tommy said.
"If you wanna try, go for it." Ambrose sighed. "Even if I can't have Stellan's heart, I can't stand seeing her in danger. If she divorces Alaric, it might save her life."
Tommy remarked, "Mr. Vale, you're really devoted to Stellan."
Devoted? If it weren't for Stuart, Ambrose could've been living happily with Stellan ages ago. Stuart ruined everything! If Stuart were out of the picture, things would be easier. But he didn't have the power to take him out yet. "Mr. Vale, don't sweat it. These are just bumps in the road. Things will get better," Tommy said.
Ambrose stated, "Yeah, things will definitely get better!"
From the moment Ambrose joined the Vale family and got bullied by Todd, enduring all that crap, to now having Far East International in his hands, he had come a long way. So he had to stay cool. What he had gained, he wasn't about to give
up.

In the winery, Alaric and Cormac sat across from each other in a private room. Seeing the wine Alaric ordered, Cormac couldn't help but complain, "You're really going all out. Knowing I'm treating, you still ordered such pricey wine. There goes my salary for a few months."
Alaric said, "Cormac, you've really turned into a cheapskate."
"It's not being cheap; it's the aftermath of hard times. You've never felt the pain of working over ten hours at the docks for just a few bucks," Cormac said.
After those tough days, Cormac had become way more frugal.
Alaric got it and said, "Seeing how hard you've worked, I'll transfer the money to you later."
"Alright." Cormac didn't refuse. "You better transfer it, or I'll be heartbroken for months spending so much on a drink with you."
Alaric couldn't help but laugh. It really was about his experiences. Cormac's spending habits had changed a lot. He used to not care about money at all.
"It's been a while. Have you visited Griffon?" Alaric asked.
Hearing this, Cormac's smile faded. He took a sip from his wine glass and shook his head. "No, and I don't want to. What's the point? He doesn't wanna see me, and I don't wanna see him."
"Actually," Alaric paused, then spoke from experience, "If you're not cold enough to be indifferent to his death, you should see him. Otherwise, you might regret it."
Regret? Was he thinking of Marigold?
