Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 408 The Kids Are His Strongest Allies

That night, Alaric and Stellan crashed together, all snuggled up, and had the best sleep ever. Next morning, Stellan woke up to Alaric planting a kiss on her. "Why you kissin' me while I'm out cold?" Stellan mumbled, barely awake.

"Can't help it, you're just too tempting," Alaric said with a grin. "You chill in bed a bit longer, I'll whip up some breakfast."

"Sure thing," Stellan murmured, watching him leave before stretching out and dozing off again.

Alaric headed to the kitchen to cook up some grub for them and the kids.

Just as he was wrapping up, the three kids trotted downstairs. Seeing him busy, Elisa piped up, "Daddy, where's Mommy?" "She's still snoozing. I'll get her after breakfast," Alaric replied.

Elisa beamed, "Daddy, you're like the perfect guy! When I grow up, I want a boyfriend just like you."

"Didn't you say yesterday you wanted someone like Caspian? What gives?" Harry butted in.

"That just means Caspian and Daddy are the same type. Unlike you, who never shuts up and is super annoying," Elisa shot back.

"Like I'd ever go for someone like you, who's stingy and always spending other people's money," Harry retorted.

"Likewise," Elisa said with a sneer, which Harry matched.

"Daddy, do you think there was a mix-up? Maybe Caspian and Elisa are the real twins, and I'm just a fluke?" Harry asked Alaric, looking confused.

"Even if you were a fluke, you're our special fluke. Harry, you're our family's little sunshine," Alaric said.

Harry laughed. "Thanks, Daddy, that makes me feel better."

Alaric turned to Elisa. "Breakfast's ready. Elisa, go get your mommy."

Elisa nodded. "On it."

She dashed upstairs, and Alaric sat down at the table with Caspian and Harry.

Soon, Elisa and Stellan came down, with Elisa dragging Stellan to sit next to Alaric.

"Mommy, Daddy made breakfast today," Elisa said excitedly. "From all the TV shows I've seen, poor guys don't cook, and rich guys cook even less, but Daddy does. Seriously, Mommy, good men like Daddy are rare. He is loaded, handsome and he can cook. You gotta appreciate him."

Hearing this, Stellan shot a sharp look at Alaric. "Did you put her up to this?"

Alaric looked innocent. "I swear I didn't."

Elisa jumped in, "Mommy, don't blame Daddy. No one told me to say that. It's just what I figured out from watching TV. When I grow up, I want a boyfriend like Daddy. If I can't find one, I won't get married." "You're too young for this nonsense! Watch less TV from now on!" Stellan scolded.

"Got it, Mommy," Elisa said, looking sheepish.

After breakfast, Alaric turned to Stellan. "Today, you should chill at home or hang out with Rowena. I'll drop the kids at school and then head to the office." "Okay," Stellan nodded.

"Come on, don't be mad anymore, alright?" Alaric asked, making sure the kids were listening.

"Mommy, I don't know why you're upset, but Daddy's really sorry. You should forgive him," Elisa chimed in.

Stellan sighed, "Elisa, I don't want to hear another word. Go to school."

Elisa pouted. "Fine."

"Mommy, don't be mad at Daddy. I'll apologize for him. I hate seeing you unhappy," Caspian said, giving Stellan a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Yeah, Mommy, being mad is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Life's too short, be happy," Harry added.

Stellan had to admit, Alaric bringing the kids into this was a smart move. With them sweet-talking her, who could stay mad?

Stellan smiled. "Alright, I'm not mad anymore. You guys go to school."

The three kids chorused, "Got it."

Before leaving, Alaric kissed her on the cheek, then herded the kids the car. Once inside, Alaric couldn't help but say, "You guys are awesome." "Awesome or not, it's still your fault for making Mommy mad," Caspian said seriously, "If it happens again, we won't help you."

"Yeah, just this once," Harry added.

Alaric replied, "Got it. I won't make your mommy mad again."

Alaric dropped them off at school, then headed to the office, where Cormac was already waiting.

"Mr. Knight, you're 5 minutes and 7 seconds late," Cormac said, checking his watch. Alaric raised an eyebrow. "And?"

"Nothing much. The whole company is yours. What can happen if you don't show up?" Cormac asked, "Did you make up with Galatea?"

"Thanks to the kids, it's all good now. How did that task I gave you go?" Alaric asked.

Cormac replied, "I am about to tell you, it's all done. Stuart and Ambrose should be losing it right about now."

Hearing this, Alaric grinned. "Cormac, today I realized, with your skills, being just a psychologist is really beneath you."

"Thanks to you for giving me the chance to flex my muscles," Cormac continued, "Since we're on the topic, let me remind you, once you're fully recovered and back at the company, I'll be leaving Nexus Innovations to start a business with Rowena." Alaric asked, "So, are you not going back to your old gig?"

"I'll help Rowena first. Once she's successful, I'll think about my own plans," Cormac said.

Alaric teased, "You're a good man."

"Likewise," Cormac said, "You've made up with Galatea, and I've completed my task. How about a drink at noon?"

Alaric nodded. "Sure, your treat."

Cormac retorted, "I'm working for you, why should I treat?"

"I spent all my money making up with Galatea. I'm broke, so naturally, you should treat," Alaric said shamelessly, "It's settled then." "Shameless!" Cormac cursed.

The vibe here was good, but as Cormac said, the mood at Far East International was a whole different story.
