Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 375 I Really Didn't Push Her. She Fell By Herself
Upon hearing the scream, everyone bolted upstairs, and the media folks barged in like a stampede.
When they saw Marigold sprawled out on the floor with blood trickling down her forehead, the camera flashes were blinding. "Mom!" Alaric yelled, panic-stricken, and dashed over to her.
"Stellan, that bitch hurt me..." Marigold muttered before passing out.
Alaric froze, then looked up to see Stellan standing at the top of the stairs.
No time to think, he shouted, "Call an ambulance!"
He scooped up Marigold and sprinted out.
The reporters swarmed Stellan like vultures, bombarding her with questions.
"What happened? Did you push Mrs. Knight down?"
"Was it an accident or on purpose? What were you two fighting about? Spill the details!"
"Mrs. Knight's pretty old; falling down those stairs must've messed her up bad. If she croaks, you're in deep trouble, you know that?"
Stellan's head was spinning; the reporters wouldn't let up, firing questions non-stop.
Just then, Neil stepped in, flashed his police badge, and cleared the reporters out.
Once they were gone, Stellan looked at Neil and said, "I didn't push her; she fell on her own."
She knew everyone would think she did it, even if it was an accident, but she didn't.
Neil was at a loss for words. No matter what, Marigold was hurt and in the hospital, making it a case.
As a cop on the scene, Neil couldn't just ignore it.
"I want to believe you, but we need to investigate. Stellan, can you come to the station to give a statement?"
Go to the station? She never imagined this would happen. Just then, she heard Caspian, Harry, and Elisa calling out.
"Mommy!"
Seeing them run towards her, Stellan's anxiety eased, and she rushed to hug them.
"Where were you? Where did Marigold hide you?" she asked quickly.
"We weren't hidden," Elisa said first. "We were in class when the teacher said someone was here to take us home. Then we saw Joe, and we were super annoyed."
"Joe said he was taking us to Grandma's sixtieth birthday, and we didn't want to go. We protested in the car, and Joe said you and Daddy were here too, but we didn't believe him."
"He said he'd bring us to see, and if you weren't here, he'd take us back to school right away. Then we got stuck in traffic, so we are late."
Hearing this, Stellan was even more confused. 'They just got here?'
"Mommy, Joe said you and Daddy were here, but we didn't buy it. Turns out you are really here Where's Daddy?" Harry asked, eyes wide.
"Looks like something went down; everyone's freaking out." Caspian quickly chimed in, "Mommy, what happened?"
How was she supposed to explain this mess to the kids?
"There was an accident. Your grandma's hurt and in the hospital," Stellan struggled to say, so Neil stepped in, "Your daddy's with her at the hospital now."
"Grandma's hurt and in the hospital?" Elisa gasped. "How did she get hurt?"
"Alright, Elisa, no more questions. It was just a small accident," Stellan said, knowing she couldn't dodge the station visit. She looked at Neil, pleading, "Can I take them back to school first?" Neil nodded. "Of course."
"Thank you," Stellan said, relieved.
She drove the kids back to school. They could sense her bad mood, so they kept quiet.
"You three stay at school for the next few days. Mommy needs to go to the hospital. Don't worry, we'll handle everything. Just focus on your studies, and I'll pick you up on Friday, okay?" Stellan instructed. They didn't want to add to her stress, so they nodded obediently. "Got it, Mommy. Don't worry, we'll be good."
"Good kids." Seeing them so understanding, Stellan felt a bit better.
She then headed to the station with Neil to give her statement, while Alaric was still outside the emergency room, where Marigold had been for over an hour. "What happened?" Cormac and Rowena rushed in after seeing the news about Marigold.
"There was an accident; she fell down the stairs," Alaric said, not elaborating.
"Where's Stellan?" Rowena asked, not seeing her around.
'Where is Stellan?' The whole situation had Alaric's mind in a fog; he had no clue what had gone down.
Seeing Marigold bleeding and unconscious, he rushed her to the hospital and lost track of Stellan.
Rowena noticed Alaric was focused on Marigold, so she didn't press further and stepped aside to call Stellan but couldn't get through.
Stellan was at the station with her phone off.
Stellan recounted the events honestly, and Neil pulled up the villa's surveillance footage.
Though the area wasn't a blind spot, the angle only showed Marigold's back, blocking Stellan, and the distance made it hard to see clearly. Another camera clearly showed Stellan pushing Marigold to the ground before heading upstairs.
"Did you push her here?" Neil paused the footage and asked.
"Yes." Stellan saw the footage and knew it looked bad for her. She also knew that if Marigold woke up, she'd insist Stellan pushed her down. "I did push her here, but at the top of the stairs, I didn't. She fell by herself!" Stellan insisted.
