Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 374 Marigold Had an Accident

Neil was in a mad rush to wrap up his work, grab the gift, and hightail it to Knight Manor. When he finally got there, the place was buzzing, but no sign of Alaric. Not knowing a soul and never having met Marigold, Neil had no choice but to hit up Alaric.

Alaric was stuck in a lecture. His phone buzzed, and he saw Neil's name pop up. He already had a hunch about the call. "Neil."

Neil jumped right in, "Alaric, I'm at Knight Manor. Where the heck are you? Can't see you anywhere!"

Alaric had hoped he could dodge the whole thing if he stayed busy, but no such luck.

"I didn't go today," Alaric admitted.

"You're skipping your mom's sixtieth birthday? What's up with that? You sick or something?" Neil couldn't think of any other reason. Alaric started, "No, I'm out right now..."

But Neil cut him off, "It's late, and you're still out? I'm here waiting. Get your butt over here."

Neil was clearly ticked off. He hung up before Alaric could explain.

Explaining over the phone was a lost cause anyway. Alaric bailed on the lecture and headed to Knight Manor.

Meanwhile, Stellan had had enough of Marigold's nonsense. She stormed off, checking rooms one by one.

It was Marigold's big 60. If she had the kids, they'd be here, stashed somewhere. Seeing Stellan on a rampage, Marigold lost it.

"Stellan, we cut ties. This is my house. You're trespassing. I'll call the cops!" Marigold yelled.

"Go ahead, call 'em. Let's see who they haul off," Stellan shot back, not giving a damn, and kept searching.

Marigold, fuming, grabbed Stellan's arm and spat, "You shameless witch! First, you took my son, now you won't let me see my grandkids. How can you be so heartless?" "Heartless?" Stellan laughed like it was the funniest thing ever. "You're the real monster here."

Stellan decided to up the ante, "I've got proof you and Ambrose plotted to kidnap me. Hand over the kids, or I'll give it to the cops, and you'll spend your birthday in a cell." Proof? The word hit Marigold like a ton of bricks. She remembered the phone recording at Ambrose's place. Could Ambrose have handed that over to Stellan?

No way, that couldn't be right. Ambrose had said they were in it together. Why would he hand over such crucial evidence to Stellan?

"Quit trying to freak me out. You don't have any evidence!" Marigold was sure Ambrose wouldn't give her up, so she put on a brave face.

"You don't believe me?" Stellan pulled out her phone and waved it around. "I can play it for you if you want."

Stellan was bluffing, but she knew Marigold was guilty and would crack under pressure.

Just as Stellan thought, Marigold was already sweating over that recording at Ambrose's place. Now that Stellan threatened to play it, Marigold's knees went weak.

"Scared?" Stellan saw Marigold's reaction and knew she had her. "If you're scared, hand over my kids. Otherwise, I'm taking this to the cops."

Marigold was terrified but tried to keep her cool. She swallowed hard and straightened up. "So what if you have evidence? The kids are still with me. If you want to see them, hand over your phone." She was bluffing too, but she didn't have any real leverage.

"I said hand them over, or I'll send it to the police." Stellan turned to head upstairs, and Marigold grabbed her. "You witch, give me your phone!"

Marigold was losing it, scared she'd end up in jail. She tried to snatch Stellan's phone, but she was no match for Stellan.

Stellan easily shoved her away, making Marigold hit the floor, and then bolted upstairs.

Seeing Stellan take off, Marigold scrambled to her feet and chased after her.

Marigold was out of her mind, only thinking about getting that phone, but Stellan wasn't about to let her.

"Stellan, you witch, give me your phone!" Marigold, furious and desperate, lunged for it, but Stellan dodged, making Marigold lose her balance.

It was her birthday, and she was in sky-high heels. Losing her balance made her slip.

Realizing she was about to fall, Marigold screamed and instinctively reached for Stellan. She only managed to grab Stellan's brooch before tumbling down the stairs.

They were at the top of the third-floor staircase, and Marigold rolled all the way down.

Seeing Marigold fall, Stellan's mind went blank.

At that moment, Alaric had just arrived. He spotted Neil, but before they could say a word, they heard Marigold's scream from upstairs.
