Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 350 Alaric, You've Changed

"Really? Is it possible?" Neil was absolutely in awe of Thomas. When he learned that he could visit Thomas with Alaric, he was naturally over the moon. Alaric said, "Of course, he will definitely be very happy when he saw you."

Just thinking about it made Neil excited. He said, "Seeing him again would be wonderful."

Alaric just smiled faintly.

Neil remarked, "Today's visit has been very rewarding. I never expected you to be the legendary Mr. Knight, which truly makes me feel respectful." "Not at all," Alaric quickly replied, "Your unflinching courage and leadership in the face of danger are truly commendable."

"That's just part of the job," Neil said, "Compared to your achievements and sacrifices, my contributions are insignificant."

Alaric said, "Officer Neil, you're too modest. You're older than me; you don't have to be so formal. Just call me Alaric."

Neil nodded. "Alright, I'll call you Alaric. Though you're retired now, to me, you're still very much part of us."

Alaric smiled. "Yes, that's right. So I won't call you Officer Neil anymore; I'll just call you Neil."

"Sure, I'd be honored." By this point, Neil had completely dispelled any doubts about Alaric and even felt a sense of admiration.

Neil spoke, "We'll stay in touch about this case. If Ambrose makes any moves or we find any evidence, we'll communicate immediately."

Alaric agreed, "Of course, no problem."

Neil was still in a state of excitement. The two of them then chatted about some drills and training exercises from their time in the military and SWAT team, and they really hit it off. When Stellan returned, he saw them chatting and laughing, getting along so well that she could hardly believe what she saw.

"Officer Neil?" Stellan asked in disbelief. Why were Neil and Alaric getting along so well?

"Stellan," Neil said.

Stellan looked at Alaric in shock. Alaric smiled and then said to Neil, "Neil, it's almost dinner time. Why don't you stay and join us?"

"I'm really sorry, but I can't," Neil replied. "I've been away for too long and need to return to my team. You and Stellan go ahead and eat without me. I have to head out."

Alaric sighed. "That's really a shame. How about we grab a drink together next time?"

Neil nodded. "Sure, I don't have many hobbies, but I do enjoy a few drinks now and then. It's a deal, but you need to take care of your health first. We'll wait until you're fully recovered." Alaric chuckled. "Absolutely."

Alaric then walked Neil out of the yard. Stellan was completely dumbfounded, unable to believe what she was seeing.

Stellan was very confused. "What's going on with you and Neil?"

Alaric smiled smugly and said, "Nothing much; we just made a friend."

"Made a friend?" Stellan asked incredulously. "Alaric, are you serious? You're actually initiating friendships? Are you okay?"

Alaric was never one to make friends. If it weren't for Cormac growing up with him, he wouldn't have any friends at all.

"Yes," Alaric said leisurely, "I've reflected on things through Cormac's situation. No matter how strong you are, you always need friends' help. More friends, more opportunities. And Neil is definitely a friend worth having." Stellan was utterly shocked. "I haven't interacted with Neil much, but I know he's quite principled and not easily approachable. Last time, he was full of suspicion towards us. How did you two become so close?"

"That's a secret," Alaric said, "Alright, you go rest. I'll make dinner."

Stellan quickly stopped him. "You're still recovering. You still can't cook."

Alaric said helplessly, "It's no big deal. I spend nearly twenty hours a day lying in bed. If I don't move around, I'll get stiff. It's just cooking; I'll manage."

Alaric had a point. Doing some activity would be good for his recovery.

"Alright, we'll do it together," Stellan said as she changed clothes, "Kids are traveling. Let's enjoy some time as newlyweds."

So they went to the kitchen together. As Stellan was preparing the vegetables, she reported to Alaric, "There are a lot of construction companies bidding for this jewelry company project, many of them international. I've compiled everything for you to review later."

Alaric said, "I've told you, just go ahead and do it. Discuss these matters with the senior management. I won't interfere."

Stellan was touched. "Do you really trust me that much?"

"You're my wife. Of course, I trust you," Alaric said, "Cormac keeps telling me you're becoming more and more like a CEO. He already recognizes your abilities. Why would I doubt you?"

"So I won't report to you and just go ahead with it? If I ruin your company, don't blame me," Stellan warned.

Alaric teased, "If you can ruin Nexus Innovations in six months, that would be quite a talent."

Stellan asked, "Alaric, what do you mean by that? Are you mocking me?"

"Not at all!" Alaric quickly surrendered. "I believe in your abilities. It won't happen."

Stellan gave him a sharp look, and then they continued cooking together, enjoying a great atmosphere.

After dinner, they went for a walk, took a bath together, and finally returned to the bedroom.

Stellan lay in Alaric's arms and said, "Being a CEO isn't easy. The pressure is immense. I need to sleep now. I have an early meeting tomorrow."

"Okay, goodnight, honey." Alaric kissed Stellan on the forehead. Watching her fall asleep, he couldn't help but smile.

He had completed the first step of his plan. He was determined to uncover the truth about the past and resolve the burden that has weighed on Stellan's heart for so long.
