Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 343 I Have Something Important to Tell You
Afterward, Josep began treating Alaric, with Stellan assisting him.
As Josep had mentioned earlier, as long as Alaric could endure the most painful injection, the subsequent treatments would be more comfortable. Given Alaric's strong endurance, this treatment was really a breeze for him.
After finishing Alaric's treatment, Josep asked, "How do you feel? Any discomfort?"
Alaric shook his head. "No, everything's fine."
"You're young and have a good constitution," Josep said confidently, "Take good care of yourself, and you'll be fully recovered in six months at most." "Thank you, Josep," Alaric and Stellan said simultaneously.
Stellan stated, "Josep, I can handle the next treatments myself. If you want to go back to the research institute..."
"No rush," Josep replied, "Besides, you're now a director at Nexus Innovations, with so much work to do every day. How would you have time to treat him? I'll stay here, discuss and research with a few medical professors, and treat him along the way. It's no trouble."
Hearing this, Stellan felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. "I really don't know how to thank you, Josep. I'm truly grateful."
"It's nothing," Josep said, giving Stellan a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Just take good care of him. I'll be on my way now." "Galatea, go see Josep off," Alaric suggested to Stellan.
Stellan quickly accompanied Josep out, watching as his car drove away before heading back to the bedroom.
"Did you see Josep off?" Alaric asked as she returned.
"Yeah," she replied.
"Josep really has a heart of gold," Alaric remarked.
"Absolutely. He's the best doctor I've ever met. I feel lucky to have worked alongside him," Stellan said, smiling at Alaric. "God has truly blessed me, hasn't he?"
"Definitely," Alaric responded with a grin. Then he added, "Honey, I really am feeling much better. I can handle things at home. You should head to the office."
"Alright," Stellan said with a hint of reluctance. "If I don't get to the office soon, I'm afraid you'll be itching to go yourself!"
With that, Stellan turned to Caspian, Harry, and Elisa. "You three take care of your dad. Mommy needs to go look after his company."
"Okay!" Caspian, Harry, and Elisa chorused in unison.
Once Stellan left, Alaric headed to his study to boot up the computer. He needed to dig into Brennan's entire network. There couldn't just be one Derek; there had to be other leads to explore.
"Dad, why is it that as soon as Mom leaves, you stop listening to us?" Caspian said, shutting his notebook with a thud.
"Yeah, Dad! Resting and taking care of yourself doesn't mean surfing the web for information. You'd better watch out, or we'll call Mom," Harry said, pretending to be upset.
Elisa stood there, hands on her hips, trying her best to look fierce.
Realizing he had forgotten about the kids, Alaric reluctantly decided to pause his work. "Alright, alright, I won't work. Let's go play some games together."
"Yay! Long live Dad! Time for games!" Elisa cheered, pulling Alaric out of the study.
When Stellan got back to Nexus Innovations, she felt surprisingly light-hearted. Alaric had completely severed ties with Marigold-wasn't that a good thing for him?
No more arguing with Marigold, and he wouldn't have to deal with her drama anymore. Plus, with his recovery progressing well and Josep saying he'd be back to normal in six months, Stellan couldn't help but feel optimistic. "Looking at you, I take it Alaric's doing alright?"
As Stellan walked into the office, Cormac, noticing the open door, made his way directly in.
Upon hearing Cormac's voice, Stellan quickly wiped the smile from her face and nodded seriously. "Yes, he's doing quite well. Josep isn't rushing back to Country M. He's sticking around to personally treat Alaric." "That's fantastic news," Cormac said with relief.
Stellan didn't waste any time and asked, "How's it going with Rowena?"
Cormac let out a resigned chuckle. "Why does this always come back to me? We're both focused on Alaric's work right now. He's so exacting that we can't afford any slip-ups. So, let's save the personal chats for later."
He shifted the topic back to business. "On a work-related note, Ambrose is on cloud nine. The jewelry company is up and running, the first batch of jewelry is out, and the sales are reportedly doing quite well. Plus, they've just landed a major partnership. Two companies are teaming up to launch a concept jewelry line, causing quite a stir in the industry."
Stellan's frustration was palpable. "Ambrose is making a grand show of playing the victim and milking the situation for all it's worth. He's a master at putting on a facade and winning people over. Of course, now that he's in a higher position, the public perception is all rosy."
Cormac looked remorseful. "People like him are the worst. They're often far more dangerous than genuinely bad people. Honestly, I blame myself. If it weren't for me, the jewelry company wouldn't have ended up in his hands." "Cormac, don't beat yourself up about it," Stellan said firmly. "We need to win, but we have to do it with integrity. We don't stoop to his level. Let's call a board meeting tomorrow to discuss our strategy. We need to figure out how to counter his moves. I won't just sit back and watch him take over while Alaric's away."
Stellan knew all too well that Ambrose was exploiting the situation, betting on her inability to manage things effectively. Ambrose was determined to outshine Nexus Innovations during Alaric's absence, and she wasn't about to let that happen. "Absolutely not. I won't give Ambrose that chance!" Stellan declared with determination.
Just then, Cormac's phone rang-it was Aurora calling.
Stellan glanced at the clock and said, "Is Aurora calling you to come home for lunch? You should head back. She might have already prepared something for you." "Alright, I'll head out now," Cormac replied.
Knowing how swamped Cormac had been recently, Aurora rarely called him during lunch. Stepping out of Stellan's office, Cormac quickly answered the call. "Hello, Aurora?" "Cormac, where are you? Are you busy? If you're not, come home. I have something big to discuss with you."
"Something big? What's this about?"
"You'll find out when you get home."
"Being all mysterious, huh?"
"Yep," Aurora said, her tone playful. "So hurry up and get back. I'll be waiting for you."
"Got it," Cormac said, ending the call. He quickly left Nexus Innovations, got into his car, and sped off toward home.
