Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 344 Let Go

Cormac immediately returned to the apartment at the casino upon hearing this. As soon as he entered, he saw Aurora standing at the door waiting for him. Cormac asked, "What big news do you have? Can you tell me now?"

Aurora had been holding back her laughter, but now she couldn't contain it anymore. She took out an acceptance letter.

Cormac quickly took it and found that it was an acceptance letter from the top-ranked high school in Arizona. He thought, 'But Aurora was just about to enter eighth grade this year. How could this be?' "Surprised?" Aurora said happily, "I skipped a grade and got early admission to high school. I'm the only one in the whole city!"

Hearing this, Cormac was overjoyed. "Really? You're so amazing!"

"Wait until I get a direct admission to college without having to take the SATs, then you can call me amazing," Aurora said, never worried about her academic performance.

Cormac was so happy and proud that he picked Aurora up. "You're truly incredible. We must celebrate this big news properly. What do you want to eat? Do you want to go out or should I cook for you? It's up to you."

"I don't want to eat out. I'd rather have Rowena come over, and we can celebrate in the apartment," Aurora said.

Cormac let out a scoff and replied, "You're quite the matchmaker, aren't you? Even now, you're still on duty."

"Well, since it's a celebration for me, you'll have to go along with my plans," Aurora said.

"Alright, if my Aurora is asking, who am I to refuse?" Cormac conceded with a smile. "You call her then. I'll go buy some ingredients." "Sure thing!"

Cormac went out and picked up a ton of groceries. By the time he got back, Rowena was already there.

Today was a good day, and Cormac felt surprisingly relaxed, free from the awkwardness he'd felt before.

"Aurora, why don't you head to your room for now? We'll call you when everything's ready," Rowena suggested.

"Okay," Aurora replied and promptly headed out of the kitchen.

Aurora retreated to her study, leaving Cormac and Rowena to tackle the kitchen. They worked together with a natural rhythm.

"You used to be hopeless with seasonings, but look at you now, so confident in the kitchen," Rowena commented with a hint of amusement.

Cormac gave a self-deprecating chuckle. "Times have changed. I'm no longer some spoiled kid. If I didn't learn to cook, I'd probably starve."

Rowena smiled and said, "You've really changed a lot, but one thing that hasn't is your kindness."

She paused, looking at him earnestly. "After everything that's happened, it's hard to stay true to oneself, but you've managed it. From what Aurora told me, it might have seemed like she saved you, but in reality, it was your own kindness that saved you."

If Cormac hadn't left his watch and phone for Aurora, even in his darkest moments, she might never have had the chance to help him.

"Seems like Aurora's a bit of a spy, doesn't she? First, she spills the beans about how we met to Alaric, and now to you," Cormac said with a resigned laugh.

Rowena grinned mischievously. "Well, it's not exactly a scandalous secret. If we ask Aurora, she won't be able to lie about it."

It wasn't a scandalous secret, but Cormac felt a bit awkward knowing that both Alaric and Rowena were aware of his past thoughts of suicide.

"Cormac," Rowena said, stepping closer and looking him in the eye with sincere intensity. "We've both faced death before. It's a miracle we got a second chance at life. If we're not afraid of death, what else is there to fear?" If they weren't afraid of death, what could possibly be too difficult to let go of?

Cormac understood Rowena's point but wasn't ready to fully open up. "Let's focus on making dinner. Aurora will be starving soon."

"Alright," Rowena agreed, deciding to set aside the conversation for now. Their relationship was progressing naturally, and there was no need to rush things.

After they finished preparing the meal, they set everything on the table and called Aurora to join them.

"Congratulations again, Aurora, on your early entry into high school!"

"Thanks, Cormac. Thanks, Rowena," Aurora said, then turned to Cormac. "Cormac, you promised you'd find a girlfriend before I started high school. Since I'm starting early, shouldn't you be finding someone sooner too?" Cormac shoved a spoonful of food into Aurora's mouth. "Eat first."

After Aurora chewed and swallowed, she continued, "It's not just about being eager. Once I'm in high school, I'll be boarding, and I won't be around to take care of you. I'm worried.

"I'm thirty years old. I don't need anyone to look after me," Cormac replied. "Focus on your studies and don't worry about me."

"Of course you need someone to look after you! You get so absorbed in work, you barely eat properly. It's a nightmare," Aurora countered.

Cormac felt both amused and exasperated. Rowena, sensing the situation, stepped in. "Don't worry, Aurora. When you start high school, I'll make sure to look after Cormac."

Before Cormac could respond, Aurora eagerly said, "Thanks, Rowena."

Resigned, Cormac just focused on finishing his meal. As they neared the end, Rowena suggested, "Aurora is about to start high school, and things will get hectic. With about ten days before school starts, how about we take a trip abroad?" "Yes, please! I've never been out of the country!" Aurora exclaimed, her excitement palpable. The prospect of a trip, especially with Cormac and Rowena, thrilled her.

"I'm afraid I can't make it," Cormac said. "Ambrose is booming right now, and if I leave, it's just Galatea holding down the fort. Even though Nexus Innovations has other executives, none of them are as close to Galatea. If something goes wrong, it would be a disaster, and I'd have a hard time explaining it to Alaric."

Cormac genuinely didn't mean to dampen the mood, but he had no choice.

Seeing Aurora's disappointment, Rowena quickly stepped in to salvage the situation. "It's okay, Cormac can't make it, but I can still take you. I can show you around and even teach you some music. We can make it a fun and educational trip."
