Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 341 Forgive Her

"Did you hear me? If you don't handle this, I'll take matters into my own hands. I'll have her kidnapped and sold to traffickers, who'll send her off to some remote area," the recording said. Ambrose had played exactly that clip-the one Marigold had said over the phone last time.

"Ambrose, you bastard! You actually saved our conversation?" Marigold's fury was palpable. She was completely blindsided by Ambrose's cold maneuver.

Ambrose maintained his indifferent demeanor. "Well, Marigold, the conversation is right there for you to hear. It's evidence of you actively soliciting me to kidnap Stellan. If you really want to expose our conspiracy, I'll just hand this recording over to the police and play the victim, claiming you coerced me."

He continued, "If that happens, even if I get charged, I'll only be an accessory at most. Neil, the detective on this case, is obsessed with finding the truth. If I hand over this recording, the whole story will be crystal clear. You'll end up in jail, and your family's reputation-the Knight Family's-will be completely destroyed. Just like the Nash Family was. Remember how Griffon single-handedly ruined the Nash Family? The Knight Family could easily become the next Nash Family, erasing a century of legacy."

"Ambrose, you vile scoundrel! You're despicable!" Marigold was so enraged she looked like she might lash out at Ambrose.

"Marigold, I suggest you calm down. If you act out, it will only prove you're in the wrong," Ambrose warned her.

Marigold was trembling with anger. Ambrose added, "Our interests are tied together. Keeping quiet and protecting me is essentially protecting yourself. You can be sure I'll get Stellan back. We'll have more opportunities to work together on this."

"Work with you? Not a chance, you bastard!" Marigold shot back.

"Who else can help you get Stellan away from your son if not me?" Ambrose said calmly. "You can be as mad as you want, but the truth is, we have shared interests. Now, if you don't mind, I'm quite busy. You should go."

Ambrose had Marigold completely cornered. Her greatest concern was the reputation and future of the Knight Family. She didn't care much about going to jail herself; what she feared was dragging the Knight Family down along with her, just like the Nash Family had been destroyed.

Thus, Marigold would keep quiet about the plot to kidnap Stellan.

"So, Mrs. Marigold Knight," Joe asked hurriedly as Marigold emerged from the jewelry store, "Did you get any answers from Ambrose? What did he say?" "That bastard actually kept the recordings of our conversations," Marigold fumed. "It's outrageous and a huge mistake on my part for being so careless." Marigold was kicking herself for not seeing through Ambrose's scheming. She had thought they shared common interests, but Ambrose had played dirty. "So what are you going to do? Doesn't this mean he has leverage over you now?"

Marigold felt sickened, as if she'd just swallowed a fly. "Yeah, and what can I do? Am I supposed to sneak the recording out of his hands?"

"Given that Ambrose has this kind of leverage, he's likely to use it to threaten you in the future."

Marigold shot him a sharp look and snapped, "You don't need to fan the flames. Of course I know that!"

Joe fell silent, intimidated by her response.

"At this point, it is what it is," Marigold said with irritation. "Ambrose isn't an idiot. He won't reveal that recording unless absolutely necessary, as it would only implicate him as well. We'll just have to play it by ear. Let's go." Marigold climbed into the car, and Joe quickly followed.

Meanwhile, Ambrose stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, taking a drag from his cigarette and slowly exhaling the smoke.

"Mr. Vale, with Marigold's compromising position in our hands, we needn't worry about her cooperation in the future," Denny reported.

"Indeed, Marigold is quite useful, especially given her connection to Alaric."

Denny grinned with satisfaction and continued, "Mr. Vale, there's another piece of good news. Stuart will be returning home in a couple of days. He's called this place his 'heartbreak city' and doesn't want to stay any longer. He's leaving the Alaric situation to you."

Ambrose smiled. "That really is good news."

As for Alaric, after his explosive outburst, Stellan administered a sedative, and Alaric fell into a long, deep sleep.

During this time, Stellan remained constantly by Alaric's side, too anxious to sleep.

When Alaric woke up, he saw Stellan preparing medication. He shifted slightly and called out, Stellan."

Hearing Alaric's voice, Stellan immediately stopped his work and hurried to the bedside. "Alaric, you're awake. How do you feel now? Are you experiencing any discomfort?" Alaric shook his head. "I'm feeling much better."

"I got calls from Caspian, Harry, and Elisa. They said you were coughing badly and having trouble breathing. I was terrified. Luckily, it wasn't a serious outbreak, just a close call." Alaric remained silent.

"You should know better than anyone the state of your health. Why let things get so out of hand with your mother?" Stellan said, clearly exasperated.

Alaric's arguments with Marigold were nothing new, but this was a new level of intensity.

"I've severed ties with her. We won't be seeing each other again," Alaric declared firmly.

"What are you talking about?" Stellan was shocked. "You can't just end a mother-son relationship like that!"

"I'm serious this time," Alaric insisted. "Her controlling nature and my stubbornness just clash too much. We only end up arguing whenever we meet. Why keep putting ourselves through that?

"She's getting older, her heart isn't the best, and she has a chef and caretaker. If not seeing us means she can enjoy her twilight years in peace, why not let her? We can manage fine as a family of five without her interference." Stellan had thought Alaric was just blowing off steam, but it became clear he was serious.

She thought, 'Alaric really cutting all ties with Marigold, never to reconnect?'

"Stellan, she's done a lot to hurt you. I apologize on her behalf. We'll no longer be in touch, but I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive her eventually. Can you do that?"

Stellan wondered, 'Forgive her? Alaric doesn't even know that Marigold was behind my kidnapping. She wanted me dead. Can I really forgive her?'
