Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 332 What Are You Doing Here?
Hearing this, Stellan also felt exhausted, and she collapsed to the floor, her whole body trembling.
Seeing Alaric in such pain just now, she was heartbroken, leaving her almost breathless. It was really too torturous.
She wished she could share Alaric's pain, but she couldn't. Helplessly, she could only watch Alaric suffer, unable to do anything to help.
Due to her weakened state, Stellan found it difficult to speak. In her place, Cormac swiftly expressed their gratitude to Josep, saying, "Thank you, Josep."
"Alaric is the one who suffered, not me," Josep said, looking at Alaric again with admiration. "No wonder he was a soldier; his willpower is strong. Despite what I've told you earlier, I was actually worried he wouldn't make it. Fortunately, he has gotten through the most critical stage. I will oversee the follow-up treatment to ensure his recovery."
Upon hearing Josep's words, Cormac thanked him repeatedly, "Thank you so much, Josep. You've worked hard today. I'll take you home."
"Okay," Josep said and then instructed Stellan, "Take good care of him. Call me immediately if anything happens."
"Yes, thank you, Josep," Stellan said hoarsely.
Watching Cormac and Josep leave, Stellan leaned weakly against the bed, breathing heavily.
After a while, she slowly got up and looked at Alaric, who was drenched in sweat.
Stellan quickly wiped Alaric with a towel, then buried her head in his chest, sobbing. She couldn't describe her feelings, a mix of fear and heartache.
"Mommy, how's Daddy?" Caspian, Harry, and Elisa rushed in.
Fortunately, the kids weren't there earlier. If they had seen it, they would have been heartbroken and scared to tears.
Stellan replied, "He's fine now. Josep said your daddy will wake up soon."
"Really? That's great!" The kids were overjoyed to hear this.
Stellan said, "Alright, you guys go to sleep. I'll stay with your daddy."
Alaric had sweated profusely from the pain earlier, so Stellan needed to wipe him down to make him more comfortable.
"Okay," Caspian said sensibly, "Mommy, you need to take care of yourself too."
Stellan nodded. "I know."
"If Daddy wakes up in the middle of the night, even if we're asleep, you must wake us up," Harry said.
Stellan said with a faint smile, "Okay, go to sleep now."
After the kids left, Stellan brought warm water and began to wipe Alaric's body.
"Alaric, you were amazing. I knew you would make it," Stellan said, kissing Alaric on the lips. She was truly grateful he had pulled through.
It meant she still had her husband, and their three children still had their father.
After wiping Alaric's body, Stellan was also exhausted. Without even changing her clothes, she lay down beside him and fell asleep.
After dropping Josep off at home, Cormac called the Knight mansion. Mia said Stellan and the others were asleep, which put Cormac at ease.
Cormac then turned the car around and headed back to the club. It was already late, and he thought Aurora must be asleep, but to his surprise, the lights were still on when he walked in.
"Uncle Cormac, you're back?" Aurora ran out of the study as soon as she heard Cormac return. Cormac was about to ask why she was still up so late.
Before he could ask, he saw Rowena following Aurora out of the study.
"You're back?" Rowena smiled at Cormac.
Cormac was confused. "What are you doing here?"
It was already very late. Why was Rowena here?
"I came here to give Aurora guitar lessons. It started getting late, and since you hadn't returned, I decided to stay and keep her company," Rowena explained.
"I see," Cormac responded coldly, then said, "I'm back now. You can go home."
Hearing this, Aurora couldn't help but complain, "Uncle Cormac, don't you have any gentlemanly manners? It's so late, and it's not safe for Rowena to go home alone. Either you take her home, or let her stay here tonight. This isn't our old, cramped house; there's plenty of room now."
Let Rowena stay here? Was this something Rowena and Aurora had planned all along?
Before Cormac could say anything, Aurora tugged at Rowena's clothes and said, "Rowena, why don't you stay here tonight? You have to come back early tomorrow to teach me anyway. It's convenient and saves time to stay here." "Aurora," Cormac immediately reminded her. Aurora quickly backed down, saying, "Okay, forget I said anything."
"I think Aurora's suggestion is good. Since I have to come back early tomorrow, I might as well stay here," Rowena said assertively, "Aurora, I'll stay in your room tonight."
Aurora smiled. "Sure, Rowena, my bed is big."
Cormac was helpless. How had they decided without getting his permission?
Since Rowena had already said she would stay, it wouldn't be polite to ask her to leave.
"Alright then, you can stay in Aurora's room," Cormac said, then reminded Aurora, "Aurora, go to bed early tonight."
Aurora nodded. "Got it, Uncle Cormac."
Cormac went straight to the bathroom. Once inside, he soaked in the tub, listening to Aurora and Rowena chatting and laughing outside. Watching Josep treat Alaric tonight and seeing Alaric in such pain made Cormac think a lot.
In the face of life and death, humans were really insignificant. If Alaric hadn't made it, he would have left without even a word to Stellan.
So for a moment, Cormac wanted to be impulsive and agree to be with Rowena wholeheartedly.
However, when he calmed down, reason told him he couldn't.
If Rowena stayed with him, her music career would be ruined. And he couldn't even see his future, so how could he promise her one?
Cormac soaked in the tub for a long time. Only after hearing Aurora and Rowena go to bed did he come out.
Aurora and Rowena were already asleep, which made Cormac relax. He opened the door to his bedroom and found the bed freshly made with new sheets. The bed was neatly made. Was this Rowena's doing?
Cormac didn't dwell on it. He felt very tired and lay down to sleep. The next morning, Cormac was awakened by the sound of his phone alarm promptly at 6:30 AM.
It was early, and Cormac planned to visit Nexus Innovations before Aurora and Rowena woke up. But to his surprise...
"Cormac, you're awake?" Rowena said, smiling as she set breakfast on the table. "Wash up and come eat."
"Uncle, Rowena made your favorite porridge," Aurora said, poking her head out of the kitchen with a playful look.
