Chapter 311 Are They Suspecting Alaric?

Cormac assured Stellen, saying, "Josep said he's confident, so don't worry."

On the way from the airport to the hospital, Cormac had already asked Josep, and Josep seemed very confident. "Did Josep really say that?" Stellen asked.

But she was also confuse that if Todd was really so obsessed that he would kidnap her just for her body.

But now, Stellan's mind was entirely on Alaric's safety. She would think about these things after Alaric was out of danger.

After asking, Cormac saw Stellan's expression and noticed she was wearing Alaric's clothes and her hair was messy. From these cues, he had a rough idea.

"Okay." Stellan said, "Cormac, you've been with me for so long. Go rest. I'll let you know when the surgery is over."

"No need. He's still not out of danger, and I can't sleep either. Let's wait together," Cormac replied.

"Alright," Stellen said.

It was another long wait. Although Stellan had great faith in Josep, she couldn't be completely at ease when it came to Alaric's life.

After waiting for a long time, they didn't see the end of the surgery. However, their anticipation was abruptly interrupted by the arrival of the police.

"Are you Ms. Storm?" An officer showed his badge to Stellan and said, "We'd like to understand the specifics of this kidnapping case."

"I'll explain in detail, but my husband is still in critical condition, and I really can't focus right now. I'm sorry, but I'll come to you once he's out of danger." Hearing this, the officer looked at the surgery sign and understood Stellan's feelings.

"Todd is dead," the officer said.

"How?" Stellan quickly asked, "He was alive when we left. Is there an autopsy report?"

"There was a fire. The whole house burned down, let alone a person. An autopsy is impossible," the officer explained.

The place was very remote, and since Cormac reported it late, by the time the police arrived, it was already a ruin.

'A fire? How could there be a fire?' Stellan wondered.

"How many kidnappers did you see?" the officer asked.

"Just Todd."

Stellan was attacked from behind when she was kidnapped and couldn't see who it was. When she woke up, she only saw Todd.

"Alright, let us know when your husband wakes up," the officer asked. "Okay."

After the police left, Stellan thought about their last words.

'What do they mean? Why would they need to know when Alaric wake up? Do they suspect Alaric of killing Todd and then destroying the evidence?' Stellan thought.

"Todd is really dead?" Cormac couldn't believe it and was worried that Todd's death might be related to Alaric. He quickly asked, "What did Alaric do when he arrived?"

Stellan said, "When Alaric arrived, Todd was about to assault me. Alaric was naturally furious and beat Todd up. He did hit him hard, so it couldn't have killed him. When we left, Todd was lying on the ground, unable to get up, but definitely not dead."

"You only saw Todd. No one else?" Cormac asked.

"No, he was the only one inside the small cabin," Stellan answered.

Cormac had been to that place too. It was indeed a small cabin on a remote hillside, surrounded by desolation.

In the urgency of the situation, they didn't check if anyone else was hiding near the cabin.

The place was so remote that there were no people around, let alone surveillance cameras.

It was a kidnapping case, and Todd was the kidnapper. This was an undeniable fact. Arresting Todd would have been enough.

However, Todd's death complicated things. If Todd was too weak to get up and accidentally knocked over something flammable while trying to reach his phone, it would be a different story.
