Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 311 Are They Suspecting Alaric?

Cormac assured Stellen, saying, "Josep said he's confident, so don't worry."

On the way from the airport to the hospital, Cormac had already asked Josep, and Josep seemed very confident. "Did Josep really say that?" Stellen asked.

"Yes."

Observing Cormac's sincerity and being aware of Josep's affirmation, Stellan finally felt relieved.

As long as Josep was confident about the surgery, there would be no problem.

After a deep sigh of relief, Stellan felt her whole body go limp, and she couldn't help but tremble with fear.

Moments ago, she was consumed by such intense anxiety that she couldn't find stillness, unable to even register the physical manifestations of her distress. Now, all the reactions were coming out. Cormac quickly handed her a bottle of water.

Stellan drank it all in one go. After completely calming down, she could finally shift her focus to other matters. "Cormac, we're in your debt. If it weren't for you, Alaric wouldn't have made it." Stellan was still weak from the anesthesia, and if she had to take Alaric to the hospital on her own, Alaric wouldn't have made it.

"Cormac, how did you show up in time?" Stellan was also surprised by this.

"Alaric called me, asking for Rowena's contact information. I had broken up with her years ago and didn't have her current contact info. I told him and asked why he needed to find Rowena suddenly. He hung up without replying. Hearing his urgent tone, I realized something was wrong and tracked his phone to find him."

At that time, Alaric was really panicking. After calling Stellan and finding her phone off, he thought of calling Rowena because Stellan had gone out with her.

However, Alaric didn't have Rowena's number. In a panic, he called Cormac.

"I see." Stellan understood why Cormac had shown up in time.

"How did Alaric find that remote cabin where Todd kidnapped me?" Stellan asked.

"We'll probably have to wait until Alaric wakes up for him to tell us," Cormac replied.

"Okay."

"Why did Todd kidnap you?" Cormac couldn't figure it out. "Was he trying to threaten Alaric? What did he want?" Todd had already successfully taken over the jewelry company; Cormac wondered why he would kidnap Stellan.

Cormac's question made Stellan feel ashamed. She couldn't bring herself to say that Todd kidnapped her to get her body.

But she was also confuse that if Todd was really so obsessed that he would kidnap her just for her body.

This matter was definitely not that simple. It wasn't just Todd; Marigold and Ambrose must also be involved!

But now, Stellan's mind was entirely on Alaric's safety. She would think about these things after Alaric was out of danger.

After asking, Cormac saw Stellan's expression and noticed she was wearing Alaric's clothes and her hair was messy. From these cues, he had a rough idea.

To avoid embarrassing Stellan, Cormac quickly changed the subject. "Anyway, the police have been notified. Let them investigate."

"Okay." Stellan said, "Cormac, you've been with me for so long. Go rest. I'll let you know when the surgery is over."

"No need. He's still not out of danger, and I can't sleep either. Let's wait together," Cormac replied.

"Alright," Stellen said.

It was another long wait. Although Stellan had great faith in Josep, she couldn't be completely at ease when it came to Alaric's life.

After waiting for a long time, they didn't see the end of the surgery. However, their anticipation was abruptly interrupted by the arrival of the police.

"Are you Ms. Storm?" An officer showed his badge to Stellan and said, "We'd like to understand the specifics of this kidnapping case."

"I'll explain in detail, but my husband is still in critical condition, and I really can't focus right now. I'm sorry, but I'll come to you once he's out of danger." Hearing this, the officer looked at the surgery sign and understood Stellan's feelings.

"Alright, keep your phone on. We'll contact you anytime," the officer replied.

"Okay." Stellan quickly asked, "Has Todd been arrested?"

This time, Todd's kidnapping and attempted rape were facts. He couldn't escape the law.

"Todd is dead," the officer said.

Upon hearing this, Stellan and Cormac widened their eyes in shock.

"Todd is dead!" they exclaimed in unison, completely stunned.

"Yes."

"How?" Stellan quickly asked, "He was alive when we left. Is there an autopsy report?"

"There was a fire. The whole house burned down, let alone a person. An autopsy is impossible," the officer explained.

The place was very remote, and since Cormac reported it late, by the time the police arrived, it was already a ruin.

'A fire? How could there be a fire?' Stellan wondered.

"How many kidnappers did you see?" the officer asked.

"Just Todd."

Stellan was attacked from behind when she was kidnapped and couldn't see who it was. When she woke up, she only saw Todd.

"Alright, let us know when your husband wakes up," the officer asked. "Okay."

After the police left, Stellan thought about their last words.

'What do they mean? Why would they need to know when Alaric wake up? Do they suspect Alaric of killing Todd and then destroying the evidence?' Stellan thought.

"Todd is really dead?" Cormac couldn't believe it and was worried that Todd's death might be related to Alaric. He quickly asked, "What did Alaric do when he arrived?"

Stellan said, "When Alaric arrived, Todd was about to assault me. Alaric was naturally furious and beat Todd up. He did hit him hard, so it couldn't have killed him. When we left, Todd was lying on the ground, unable to get up, but definitely not dead."

"You only saw Todd. No one else?" Cormac asked.

"No, he was the only one inside the small cabin," Stellan answered.

Cormac had been to that place too. It was indeed a small cabin on a remote hillside, surrounded by desolation.

In the urgency of the situation, they didn't check if anyone else was hiding near the cabin.

The place was so remote that there were no people around, let alone surveillance cameras.

It was a kidnapping case, and Todd was the kidnapper. This was an undeniable fact. Arresting Todd would have been enough.

However, Todd's death complicated things. If Todd was too weak to get up and accidentally knocked over something flammable while trying to reach his phone, it would be a different story.

Of course, this was just Cormac's wild guess, and he didn't dare say it to make Stellan more worried.

"Alright, for now, let's set aside thoughts of Todd and focus on the surgery." Cormac said. "Okay."

'Yes, nothing else matters. Alaric's safety is the most important thing,' Stellan thought.
