Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 309 Please, Save Him
The dagger wasnow in Bill's hand. In fact, whether Bill had a dagger or not, it would be a piece of cake for him to kill Ambrose and Denny as he wished. However, Ambrose's recent words had managed to sway Bill to some extent. Although Bill was sent by Stuart to protect Todd, Todd was now dead. Killing Ambrose would leave the Vale Family without an heir, and it wouldn't benefit him personally.
After much deliberation, Bill chose the latter option and set a fire to destroy the evidence.
Seeing Bill make this choice, Ambrose smiled happily. He patted Bill on the shoulder and remarked, "Bill, you really are someone who sees the bigger picture."
Ambrose said, "I hope you mean what you said earlier and won't turn on me once you gain power," Bill said.
"Bill, you're overthinking it. All I want is power. Now that I've succeeded, why would I do something so unnecessary? Besides, I killed Todd, and you set the fire. We're in this together. If Stuart finds out, neither of us will survive. So what would be the point of dealing with you afterward?"
Bill had to admit that Ambrose made a good point.
"Don't worry, Bill. As long as we stick to the same story, Stuart won't suspect anything. Tonight's events are clear. Todd was lustful and kidnapped Alaric's wife, Stellan, intending to rape her. Alaric arrived in time and, in a fit of rage, accidentally killed Todd. This logic is reasonable. Most importantly, Alaric has already fallen ill and might not survive the night. If Alaric dies, there will be no witnesses, making it foolproof," Ambrose added.
Having made this choice, Bill had no way back and could only commit to the same path as Ambrose.
"Alright, tomorrow I'll call Stuart and tell him that Todd was killed by Alaric," Bill agreed.
Hearing this, Ambrose and Denny exchanged a happy smile, thinking, 'Perfect! this plan was simply perfect.'
Ambrose hadn't expected things to go so smoothly. Todd's overwhelming lust often clouded his judgment, causing him to lose control whenever he desired sexual encounters. And Alaric was too emotional, daring to come alone even knowing it was a death trap.
Alaric had been sent to the hospital's emergency room, and Stellan collapsed to the floor, her heart pounding with fear.
Cormac quickly helped her up from the floor and sat her on a bench outside the emergency room.
"Don't worry. Everything will be fine. It will be fine." Although Cormac knew that Alaric's situation was dire, he had to keep comforting himself and Stellan.
Stellan found herself speechless and overwhelmed with fear, unable even to shed tears. She couldn't bear to think about what would happen if Alaric didn't make it through surgery. What would she do with Caspian, Harry, and Elisa? Cormac didn't know exactly what had happened, and Stellan had no idea why Alaric and Cormac had arrived one after the other.
The only thing Stellan cared about now was Alaric's safety; everything else was unimportant.
The emergency treatment continued until dawn, a period that was torturous for Stellan.
Finally, the door to the emergency room opened, and the doctor came out. Seeing the doctor's expression, Stellan and Cormac knew it wasn't good. Because they were also doctors, Stellan understood the doctor's mindset too well. Seeing the doctor frowning, Stellan lacked the courage to ask. Was Alaric dead? Was her husband dead?
"Doctor, how is my friend?" Cormac asked, as Stellan was too scared to speak.
"He's not out of danger yet. We'll transfer him to the ICU," the docter said.
Not out of danger yet-though not good news, hearing that Alaric was still alive gave Stellan a temporary sigh of relief.
Transferred to the ICU? Stellan's heart ached as if it were being crushed. Alaric had fallen ill to save her, leading to this worst-case scenario. Family members weren't allowed in the ICU, so Stellan could only wait outside in agony. Cormac was also in torment. How did it come to this? Every minute was excruciating for Stellan, and things only got worse.
"The patient's heart has stopped! Prepare for a second emergency!" the docter informed them.
The doctors in the ICU urgently wheeled Alaric to the emergency room. Stellan hurriedly said, "I'm a doctor. Let me help!"
"That's not allowed. You're not a doctor at our hospital, and it doesn't comply with..." The docter refused.
"Let her do it. We'll take full responsibility. I'll write a statement immediately," Cormac said.
"But..."
"No buts! Saving lives is the priority!" Cormac shouted.
Since Cormac signed the responsibility waiver, allowing Stellan to be the attending physician and taking full responsibility, the hospital agreed. Stellan had been a doctor for many years but never thought she would be performing emergency treatment on Alaric. She knew that any mistake could cost Alaric his life. 'Stay calm. Stay calm!' she kept talking to herself inwardly.
Outside the emergency room, Cormac paced anxiously. After several more hours of emergency treatment, Stellan was now exhausted.
"How is he?" Cormac asked urgently.
Stellan's expression remained grave. "Alaric has been temporarily stabilized, but he's still not out of danger. If he doesn't pull through in the next twenty-four hours..." Then it would be hopeless.
Hearing this, Cormac felt weak. How could this be? "If you can't save him, who can?"
Was there really no way? Were they just going to watch Alaric die?
Besides Stellan, who else in the world could save Alaric? Stellan suddenly thought of someone. She quickly called Josep, not caring what time it was or what he was doing. Josep answered the phone. "Hello."
"Josep." Before Josep could finish speaking, Stellan urgently pleaded, "Alaric has fallen ill, and it's very serious this time. If he doesn't pull through in the next twenty-four hours, he'll die. I really have no other options, Josep. Please, save him. Please!"
Stellan had previously sent all of Alaric's medical records to Josep for review. If Josep was willing to help, he could easily take over.
"Twenty-four hours?" Josep asked.
"Yes, I really have no other options," Stellan cried.
"I understand," Josep said quickly. "Galatea, don't worry. I'll fly over immediately."
"Thank you. Thank you very much, Josep!" Stellan was now crying helplessly.
