Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 297 Not Planning to Win Her Back?
"Today she has swimming class, and I've also signed her up for piano and taekwondo. Her schedule is packed," Cormac replied. "Isn't it too much for her? Are you trying to exhaust her?" Alaric asked.
"She likes it. She couldn't learn these things before, but now that she can, she's very happy every day," Cormac said with a father's sense of pride on his face.
Alaric couldn't help but smile and said, "You're already acting like a dad. When you actually become one, taking care of kids will be second nature to you."
Alaric's words were meant as a joke, but Cormac couldn't laugh. Despite Alaric appearing to be in a better condition now, Cormac understood better than anyone that her improved state was solely due to her own resilience and strength. Once Alaric fully recovered, Cormac would leave Nexus Innovations. He didn't know what he would do then or where his future lay. He had no thoughts of getting married or having children.
Observing Cormac's expression, Alaric guessed what he was thinking and asked, "Do you know why Galatea went out today?"
"Why?" Cormac asked.
"She went to attend Rowena's birthday party," Alaric replied.
Rowena's birthday party?
Yes, today was her birthday. Cormac had never forgotten it all these years.
"Oh, I see," Cormac responded flatly, saying nothing more.
"Are you really not planning to win her back?" Alaric asked.
Cormac and Rowena had broken up because of Griffon, not because of any issues between them. Cormac had never forgotten Rowena all these years, and Alaric could see that.
Hearing this, Cormac gave a bitter smile and said, "Are you encouraging me to interfere in her relationship? Forget it. I have no such thoughts. We've been apart for so many years; Rowena has her own life now."
Rowena's current social circle was one Cormac couldn't fit into. In his mind, what had been lost was lost, and there weren't many chances for mending broken relationships in real life.
"Alright, you're already struggling to speak, so stop worrying about me," Cormac said. "Don't talk anymore, just rest."
Cormac helped Alaric lie down again. Talking for a while had indeed tired him out, so he decided to rest for a bit.
With Cormac around, Stellan felt much more at ease. When she arrived at Rowena's birthday party, she was truly amazed.
Stellan witnessed the power of fandom firsthand. The entire venue had been meticulously adorned by fan club leaders and fans, as Rowena had a fondness for the color orange. As a result, the entire place was bathed in hues of vibrant orange. There were also various large banners supporting Rowena, numerous support posters and light signs, a five-tiered cake, and so many flowers for Rowena that they could fill a wall.
"Stellan, you're here!" Rowena was especially happy to see Stellan and quickly took her hand.
"The venue is so beautifully decorated," Stellan couldn't help but exclaim.
"Yes, the fans secretly decorated it to surprise me. I'm really touched," Rowena said with a happy smile. "But I'm even more touched that you came."
Stellan had heard from Alaric about Rowena and Cormac's past. Rowena had suffered from severe depression and even had suicidal thoughts. Now, she had completely overcome it, with so many fans adoring her and such achievements. Stellan was genuinely happy for her.
"Happy birthday," Stellan said, taking out the birthday gift she had prepared for Rowena.
Seeing Stellan's gift, Rowena felt a bit embarrassed and quickly said, "Stellan, I just wanted you to come and share my joy. I'm already very happy that you came; you didn't need to bring a gift."
"Don't overthink it. It's not because you invited me that I felt obliged to bring a gift. I had prepared it long ago. My presence or not, the gift is going to find its way to you," Stellan said. Hearing that Stellan had prepared the gift in advance, Rowena was truly flattered. When she opened the box and saw the jewelry inside, she was even more shocked.
"Stellan, this gift is too precious. I can't accept it," Rowena said.
"It's just a token of my appreciation. When Alaric and I attended a jewelry exhibition, I immediately thought this necklace would suit you perfectly, so I bought it," Stellan explained. "Thank you so much, Stellan. I really love it," Rowena exclaimed.
"That's great!" Stellan voiced.
"Where's Mr. Knight? Why didn't he come with you? You two are so close; I thought he would accompany you," Rowena asked.
Alaric didn't have the energy to attend any birthday parties right now. But Stellan didn't want to tell Rowena the truth, so she made up a lie. "He's busy, so he couldn't come." "Yes, Mr. Knight is always busy," Rowena uttered.
Stellan looked around the venue. She found that Rowena hadn't invited anyone from the industry, just her fans. Not seeing Richard, Stellan asked, "Where's Richard? How could he miss your birthday party?" "He's filming abroad and couldn't get away," Rowena replied.
"Oh, I see," Stellan said.
Actually, Rowena and Richard had been arguing a lot lately. Ever since they encountered Cormac at the entertainment club, Richard seemed to find reasons to pick on Rowena
Perhaps because he had once looked down on Cormac, and now Cormac was doing better than him, Richard felt uneasy. Moreover, Cormac was Rowena's ex-boyfriend, so Richard had been finding all sorts of reasons to argue with Rowena. With Richard filming abroad, Rowena felt a bit relieved, avoiding daily arguments. Since Richard left for filming, they hadn't been in touch.
Last night, Richard had wished her a happy birthday on Facebook at midnight, but he hadn't sent her a private birthday message, and Rowena hadn't replied to him either.
"Alright, Stellan, let's not talk about him. Come help me cut the cake," Rowena said, pulling Stellan to cut the cake with her.
After cutting the cake, it was time for fan interactions. Rowena played the guitar and sang on stage while Stellan enjoyed the cake and watched from below.
The fans were very enthusiastic. As Rowena sang on stage, the fans below sang along, creating a warm atmosphere.
Stellan suddenly felt that being a celebrity could be quite fulfilling. Being adored by so many strangers, Rowena was indeed very happy.
After singing, Rowena took photos and signed autographs with her fans, smiling happily in their embrace.
Stellan checked the time; it was already past ten in the evening.
She quickly called Cormac. "Hey, Cormac, are you still at the villa? I lost track of time. I didn't realize it was so late. If you're still there, you should go home and rest. I'll be back soon." "No rush. Aurora has already gone home and started her homework after dinner. There's nothing for me to do at home. I'll leave when you get back," Cormac replied. "Okay, thank you, Cormac," Stellan said.
The more time Stellan spent with Cormac, the more reliable she found him. The more reliable Cormac was, the more she felt it was a pity for Rowena and him.
