Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 296 Go and Have a Good Time

After a few more hours, Alaric slowly regained some strength. He could prop himself up to sit and then get out of bed to walk around a bit.

At this moment, Stellan's face was noticeably swollen and red. Recalling the physical abuse she endured and the hurtful words Marigold had directed at her, Alaric felt both angry and heartbroken. "Galatea, I'm sorry you had to go through that," Alaric said guiltily.

"Don't be," Stellan replied. "Marigold and I don't get along, but I'm a mother too. Seeing you like this, she must be heartbroken as well."

Hearing this, Alaric felt even more remorseful. He hugged Stellan and promised, "Once this treatment is over, I'll talk to my mom. If she bullies you again, I'll..."

"What will you do? Really cut ties with Marigold?" Stellan interrupted him, then smiled and said, "Alright, don't worry about these things. Just focus on your recovery."

As soon as Stellan finished speaking, her phone rang. It was Rowena calling.

"Rowena's calling. I'll take it," Stellan said, stepping out of Alaric's embrace. "Hello, Rowena."

"Stellan, are you busy lately?" Rowena asked.

Stellan had been fully focused on Alaric's treatment, but she didn't want to tell Rowena about it, so she replied evasively, "Not too much. Do you need something, Rowena?"

"It's a personal matter," Rowena said. "My birthday is coming up in a few days. I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but my fans have prepared a party for me, and I can't really refuse. I want to keep it low-key this year and not invite anyone from the music industry. Stellan, can you come?"

A birthday party?

Stellan knew Rowena's birthday was coming up; she had even prepared a gift in advance. But with Alaric in this condition, she was really worried about leaving him.

"Rowena, I've checked the date. It's a weekend, and I might have to take my kids to their tutoring class. Can I check the time and get back to you?" Stellan didn't want to give a definitive answer.

"Alright, Stellan. Check your schedule. But if you can come, I'd be really happy."

Rowena was very popular now, with many friends in the industry trying to get close to her, but most were just acquaintances. Despite their relatively short acquaintance, Alaric and Stellan had developed a strong bond. She sincerely hoped Stellan could come.

"She invited you to her birthday party?" Alaric had overheard the conversation.

"Yes," Stellan nodded.

"Since you've already prepared a gift, you should go. Besides, she's so warmly inviting you; it wouldn't be nice not to go," Alaric said.

"I know, but that day is when you get your treatment shot. It's the hardest time for you. How can I think about going to a birthday party?" Stellan said.

"That's exactly why you should go," Alaric urged. "You said it's just a normal reaction to the medication. I'll get through it. You staying here will only make you worry more. It's better for you to go out and relax. There are so many servants here and doctors. You don't need to worry so much. Go and have a good time."

For the past half month of Alaric's treatment, Stellan had barely left the house, spending almost 24 hours a day in the bedroom with him. Alaric really wanted her to go out and relax. "Alright then," Stellan finally agreed.

Since she was going out, Stellan gave Mia a lot of instructions in advance. On Rowena's birthday, Alaric had a simple breakfast in the morning, and Stellan gave him his treatment shot.

As usual, the initial moments after the shot were the hardest for Alaric. He vomited all the breakfast he had eaten. Stellan hurried to give him water and massage him to ease his pain. "It's getting late. You should go," Alaric said weakly. "I'll take a nap."

"Are you sure? Don't push yourself on my account."

"It's fine. Haven't I been through this for over half a month now?" Alaric smiled. "Alright, go. I'm going to sleep."

"Okay, sleep well," Stellan said, wiping Alaric's face and tucking him in. She watched him close his eyes and breathe evenly, seemingly asleep, before quietly leaving the bedroom.

"Mia, please take good care of him. If he feels uncomfortable, call me immediately," Stellan instructed Mia, still worried.

"Don't worry, Stellan. I'll take good care of him," Mia said, pulling out a piece of paper filled with notes. "Look, I've written down all the important points."

"Thank you, Mia," Stellan uttered.

After changing her clothes and making all the preparations, Stellan checked on Alaric one more time. Confirming he was asleep, she left. Once in the car, she looked back at the villa, her heart still heavy with worry. Even with Mia and the doctors there, Stellan couldn't help but worry. She decided to call Cormac.

"Sorry to bother you on a weekend, Cormac," Stellan said. "I have to go out today, and Alaric just had his treatment shot and is feeling really bad, so I was wondering..."

"I'm already on my way," Cormac said.

Alaric had been in treatment for over half a month, but Cormac had been very busy during that time. He was new to the job and didn't want to cause any trouble for Alaric, so he worked late every day. Finally, it was the weekend, and with most of his work done, Cormac decided to visit Alaric.

"That's great. With you there, I can be at ease," Stellan said.

"Go ahead and do what you need to. I'll stay until you get back," Cormac voiced.

"Thank you, Cormac."

Now Stellan could be completely at ease. Cormac was reliable and knowledgeable in medicine.

When Cormac arrived, Alaric was still asleep but not resting well. Cormac had grown up with Alaric and was used to seeing him strong and imposing. He had never seen Alaric so weak and pale.

Even when Alaric was gravely injured and unconscious, he didn't look this bad. He had lost a lot of weight and had no color in his face now.

After a while, Alaric woke up feeling extremely nauseous. Seeing this, Cormac quickly went over to help him sit up and gently patted his back, but Alaric had nothing left to vomit.

Cormac quickly poured a glass of water for Alaric. After drinking it, Alaric felt a bit better and looked at Cormac, seeming a bit dazed. Then he asked, "Did Galatea ask you to come?"

"Do I need Galatea's permission to come?" Cormac retorted, then asked worriedly, "Is this reaction normal? Why is it so severe?"

Despite being a doctor, Cormac was not well-versed in this particular illness. Seeing Alaric in such pain, he couldn't help but worry.

"It's all normal. It's just the treatment shot that makes me feel bad. I'll be fine after today," Alaric said. Then he looked at Cormac and asked, "How come you have time to visit? Don't you need to take care of Aurora?"
