Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 291 He Was Happy and Had a Few More Drinks

Seeing Aurora's guilty expression, Cormac affectionately ruffled her hair and spoke in a comforting tone, saying, "No, they always like to argue. Come on, let's go in and eat."

Cormac took Aurora's hand and led her inside.

Once seated in the private room, everyone except Caspian wore smiles on their faces. Elisa leaned in close to Caspian's ear and said, "Caspian, don't be upset. Harry is probably just wearing height-increasing shoes. You two are actually the same height."

Despite Elisa speaking softly, Harry caught her words. He gave Elisa a disdainful look and said, "Don't lie to comfort Caspian, Elisa. The fact is, I am taller than him."

Harry then turned to Aurora with a smile and said, "Aurora, these two always gang up on me. From now on, let's play together. The big genius should hang out with the little genius."

"I was the first place winner in the global math competition. You don't deserve to talk about being a genius in front of me!" Caspian retorted immediately.

"Oh, right. Did your brain grow at the expense of your stature?" Harry mocked.

"Rook Storm!" Caspian was furious and ready to hit him, but Harry quickly hid behind Alaric and shouted, "Daddy, Caspian wants to hit me!"

"Enough. It's a miracle if you two don't argue for a minute." Alaric ordered, "Sit down, and no more arguing."

Harry sat down. Although Caspian still looked upset, he also remained quiet.

Stellan gave an awkward smile and explained to Cormac and Aurora, "They argue like this every day. They can't go a day without it."

"That's great. It shows they are close," Aurora said, genuinely envious of such a family atmosphere. But as soon as she finished speaking, Caspian and Harry almost simultaneously said, "We do not have a good relationship!" "See, you two are in sync right now," Aurora giggled.

Caspian and Harry were both very reluctant to admit it.

When the food was served, everyone started eating. Aurora felt like she was dreaming and said, "I never dreamed I would one day eat in such a fancy place. The food here is delicious. Thank you for the treat, Uncle Alaric and Sister Stellan." Aurora was so well-behaved that it was hard not to like her.

Since the Storm Family went bankrupt, Stellan had been raising Elisa and Harry on her own, so she felt particularly sympathetic to Aurora's situation.

So Stellan said, "Aurora, Alaric, and I are good friends with Cormac. If he's ever too busy with work to take care of you, you can always come to us, okay?"

"Thank you." Aurora felt very happy. "My dad was right; there are more good people in this world. Thank you for liking me."

Hearing this, Alaric and Stellan exchanged glances. They genuinely liked this sensible little girl.

Halfway through the meal, Aurora politely said, "Please excuse me for a moment, I'm going to the restroom."

Cormac quickly asked, "Can you find it?"

"Yes, I saw it when we came in." With that, Aurora walked out.

Aurora went to the restroom alone. When she came out, she saw Alaric standing outside. Seeing him, Aurora asked, "Alaric, are you going to the restroom too?" "No, I came to find you," Alaric answered.

"Find me?" Aurora was confused.

"Yes," Alaric asked gently, "Can I ask how you and Cormac met?"

How did they meet?

Aurora told Alaric the truth. After hearing her story, Alaric felt genuinely scared.

It turned out Cormac had really considered suicide. Alaric couldn't imagine what would have happened if Aurora hadn't been there and Cormac had jumped off the rooftop. How would he have coped?

He would have spent the rest of his life in guilt, wouldn't he?

"Thank you, Aurora. Thank you for saving him and saving me," Alaric said gratefully.

Aurora didn't understand and asked, "Uncle Alaric, I didn't know you before. How did I save you?"

Alaric ruffled Aurora's hair affectionately and explained, "By saving him, you saved me."

"Oh," Aurora seemed to understand.

"Come on, let's go back and continue eating." Alaric took Aurora's hand and led her back to the private room.

Maybe everything happens for the best.

"Let's have a drink to celebrate today," Alaric said to Cormac. "I'll have the driver take you home later."

Stellan didn't want Alaric to drink, but seeing how happy he was, she didn't want to spoil his mood, so she didn't stop him.

So Alaric and Cormac had a few drinks. Through this meal, they really felt like they were back to the old days. The atmosphere grew livelier with each drink, and Alaric, in particular, began to show signs of being slightly tipsy. After the meal, Alaric had the driver take Cormac and Aurora home. After seeing them off, the family of five got into their car.

Stellan drove, Alaric sat in the front passenger seat, and Caspian, Harry, and Elisa sat in the back.

Shortly after getting in the car, Alaric closed his eyes and leaned back in his seat. Elisa quickly asked Stellan, "Mommy, what's wrong with Daddy?"

Because Alaric had been unwell before, Elisa had always been particularly worried.

"Shh," Stellan softly reminded Elisa, "Your daddy drank a bit too much. Don't make noise and let him sleep for a while."

"Okay," the three children said in unison.

The car was very quiet, and Alaric seemed to really fall asleep. Stellan drove into the yard and signaled Caspian, Harry, and Elisa to get out of the car first. After the children got out, Stellan looked at Alaric, who was still asleep. She gently called, "Alaric?"

"Hmm?" Alaric responded lazily and then opened his eyes.

"We're home. It's uncomfortable to sleep in the car. Let's go to the bedroom," Stellan said.

Alaric nodded and got out of the car, but he seemed a bit unsteady. Stellan quickly supported him and said, "I shouldn't have let you drink. Your body can't handle it."

"I was happy. This is the last time. I promise I won't drink again."

Maybe it was because he felt unwell, or maybe because he hadn't drunk in a long time, but Alaric felt a headache from the little he drank that day.

Stellan helped Alaric to the bedroom and let him lie down on the bed. She brought warm water and a towel to wipe his face and hands.

Alaric smiled happily, "My Mrs. Knight is so good."

"Stop joking," Stellan said seriously. "Alaric, I'm serious. Your body can't be neglected anymore. Josep said that special medicine is still very difficult to succeed, so I have to treat you the previous way."

She continued, "A course of treatment is seven injections, one every four days, which takes about a month. That means you have to stop everything for a month and focus on treatment. If you stop halfway, you'll have to start over." "Okay, I'll arrange my work as soon as possible," Alaric replied.

Ambrose is now hospitalized, and Todd should behave for a while after this incident. A month should be peaceful.

At least, that's what Alaric thought, but reality often doesn't go as planned.
