Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 289 Ambrose Was Sent to the Hospital
Bill dragged Ambrose back to the hotel room, pulling him into the bathroom. Before Ambrose could utter a sound, Todd had already kicked him hard.
"You bastard. Are you trying to sell out the Vale Family to get Stellan back?" Todd grabbed Ambrose by the collar. "You have evidence? What evidence did you keep?"
"Todd, you've been tricked by Alaric. How could I have any evidence? He's just trying to sow discord among us and to split the Vale Family!"
Before Ambrose could finish, Todd punched him hard in the stomach.
"Still not admit it? If it's not you, then tell me, how did Alaric know?" Another punch followed.
"He guessed it himself!" Ambrose gasped, enduring the pain. "When the entertainment center was completed, he told me that Stuart sent me to sabotage the Storm Family, and after it was done, I returned to the Vale Family. It was all Alaric's speculation. I denied it at the time. I never told him anything. As for evidence, how could I have any? Todd, don't fall for his trap. He's..."
Todd punched Ambrose in the face again, cursing, "You think I'm an idiot? I know what you're thinking. You hate Stuart, you hate me, and you hate the entire Vale Family. You wish Stuart and I would kick the bucket, so you could become the head, right? You have that thought, and it makes perfect sense for you to tell Alaric. Plus, you're still hung up on Stellan. You want her forgiveness by pulling the Vale Family out of this mess. It's not impossible!"
"I didn't! I'm telling the truth. You've been tricked by Alaric. I swear!" Ambrose protested.
As soon as Ambrose finished speaking, Todd punched him again, sending Ambrose crashing into the vanity mirror, shattering it and scattering glass shards all over the floor.
"I've never been beaten by anyone, and now it's all because of you. You bastard!" Todd then vented his anger by punching and kicking Ambrose until blood pooled on the floor. "Enough," Bill finally spoke. "How can you believe everything Alaric says? If he's really trying to sow discord, you will be playing right into his hands. Don't kill Ambrose."
Bill turned on the shower, letting the water wash away the blood on the floor. Ambrose lay curled up, unable to get up.
Todd and Bill left the bathroom, and Todd slammed the door shut. Exhausted from beating Ambrose, Todd sat on the sofa, panting.
"That bastard Alaric. One day, I'll slash his face!" Todd cursed, touching his own scratched face.
Bill remained silent.
"Bill, you're so skilled in fighting, and you've never lost to anyone. How did you lose to Alaric?" Todd was genuinely surprised.
"Alaric joined the military at eight and later became a special forces instructor. What did you expect?" Bill scolded. "You've already successfully acquired the jewelry company, yet you still had to provoke him." Todd deeply regretted his actions, but it was too late.
"Bill, do you think Alaric will really trace the Storm Family incident back to us?" Todd was anxious.
"It's been years, and all evidence has been destroyed," Bill said, glancing towards the bathroom. "Unless Ambrose really has evidence."
Hearing this, Todd became uneasy. He decided, "In that case, to be safe, let's just kill him."
Todd was about to head to the bathroom when Bill ordered, "Sit down!"
Seeing Bill's expression, Todd had no choice but to sit down. Bill said, "Alaric's words alone make you want to kill Ambrose to silence him? That would make you a laughingstock. Plus, this is a law-abiding society; murder is punishable by death!"
Bill went on, "Todd, I'm here to protect you on Stuart's orders. I'm Stuart's man, not yours. I act in the Vale Family's best interests, not yours. Ambrose is capable and useful to the Vale Family. If you kill Ambrose, don't expect me to cover for you. Even though Ambrose is an illegitimate child, he's still Stuart's son. Do you think you can get away if you kill him?"
"But what if he really has evidence?" Todd asked.
"If he does, he knows that if he's exposed, he'll be killed. Don't you think he would have a backup plan, like having his associates release the evidence if he's killed? What will you do then?" Bill retorted. Todd had no answer and remained silent.
"Get someone to take him to the hospital. If you really hurt him badly, you'll be in trouble," Bill said.
"Fine, I'll call his subordinate now." Todd called Denny.
Denny arrived quickly. Opening the bathroom door, he was greeted by a strong smell of blood. Ambrose lay on the floor, soaked and bloody.
"Mr. Vale!" Seeing Ambrose in such a state, Denny hurriedly helped him up, furious at Todd. "That bastard Todd, hitting you so hard. Mr. Vale, hang in there. I'll take you to the hospital now." Ambrose was barely conscious. Denny struggled to lift him and carried him out.
After Ambrose was taken to the hospital, Silas immediately reported to Alaric, "Mr. Knight, Ambrose has been taken to the hospital. He's seriously injured."
As expected, if it weren't for Bill, Ambrose probably would havebeen dead by now.
Todd was ruthless and lawless.
"Got it," Alaric said.
Just then, Cormac knocked on the door, and Alaric signaled Silas to leave.
After Silas left, Cormac entered and handed some application documents to Alaric. "Some payment applications, Mr. Knight, for your review." Hearing Cormac call him Mr. Knight, Alaric felt uncomfortable.
"Just call me by my name. There's no need for formality between us," Alaric said.
Cormac didn't respond, still feeling awkward. Although their relationship had improved, it wasn't like before.
"Fine, call me whatever you want," Alaric said, seeing Cormac's discomfort.
"How about dinner tonight with Aurora and my families?" Alaric asked, seeking Cormac's opinion.
