Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 285 You're Way More Handsome Than Her Boyfriend!
"You are the big star!" Aurora exclaimed in surprise upon seeing Rowena.
Rowena forced a smile, then said, "You can call me Rowena."
"You look so young and pretty," Aurora said.
"That's so sweet. What's your name?" Rowena asked.
"My name is Aurora Ryan. Just call me Aurora."
"Hello, Aurora."
After Rowena and Aurora finished chatting, Rowena's eyes unintentionally met Cormac's. Cormac quickly said to Aurora, "Aurora, Miss Blaire is very busy. We better go." "Oh," Aurora replied.
"See you later." Cormac nodded politely to Rowena, then took Aurora's hand and entered the elevator, urgently pressing the elevator door button.
The last time they met, they could still chat a bit, but this time, they were like strangers.
Rowena found one thing strange: she had never met Cormac's wife, but Cormac seemed to have a very good relationship with Aurora. After entering the elevator, Aurora looked at Cormac and directly asked, "Uncle, Rowena is your ex-girlfriend, right?"
"What are you talking about?" Cormac was startled by Aurora's question, "Who told you that?"
Only Alaric and Stellan knew about their relationship, and they would never tell Aurora. He wondered how Aurora had found out.
"I guessed it. I'm in middle school now, not a little kid." Aurora continued, "Actually, I guessed it last time at the entertainment center, but you were in a particularly bad mood then. I didn't want to rub salt in your wound and didn't ask." Not wanting to rub salt in his wound?
Aurora's words left Cormac speechless.
"I must have guessed right. I could tell." Aurora analyzed seriously, "You don't think you can give her happiness now, so you lied about being married, right?"
"You're just a little rascal. Where did you learn all this?"
"I just told you, I'm in middle school. Nowadays, even elementary school kids understand these things about dating." Aurora thought Cormac was too outdated. She had figured it out; what was the big deal? "Actually, you two are a great match. You're way more handsome than her current boyfriend," Aurora added.
Cormac couldn't help but smile bitterly. Then he tapped Aurora's head lightly. "You've watched too many TV dramas. Back to reality, she and I have broken up, and she has a boyfriend. I can only wish her well, no other thoughts, understand?" "Coward, wimp!" Aurora said disdainfully.
Cormac was truly speechless. Kids these days were really something; he was no match for them.
In the following days, they each did their own jobs, staying busy.
Far East International had completed all the procedures for acquiring the jewelry company, and Todd was now truly riding high.
"Mr. Knight, Todd is here," Silas reported. "If you don't want to see him, I can send him away now."
"No need." Alaric thought that they had to meet sooner or later, and if the Storm family's bankruptcy was related to the Vale family, the sooner, the better. "Let him in."
After Silas left, it felt like only a few minutes before loud, boisterous laughter was heard outside the office.
"Mr. Knight, it's an honor to see you," Todd said as he walked in. "I didn't expect that I would be welcome here again, but to my surprise, we met smoothly. I'm truly flattered."
"If I refuse someone as shameless as you once, you will come twice. My time is precious; I don't want to waste it," Alaraic voiced.
"Mr. Knight, your insults are as direct as ever, but I'm in such a good mood that even your insults sound pleasant," Todd said.
"Of course, when you're in a good mood, even something that stinks smells sweet," Alaric said. "Mr. Vale, it's rare that you completed something independently without Stuart's help. Your happiness is understandable." Todd's face changed slightly at these words. Alaric's bluntness was truly unbearable!
"I know you're in a bad mood now, so I'll keep my words brief." Todd placed an invitation on Alaric's desk.
"This is an invitation to the International Jewelry Exhibition. Only selected jewelry companies and members of the jewelry committee are eligible to attend. I thought you should definitely be there."
"Alright, I'll take the invitation." Alaric accepted the invitation without hesitation. "I need to see what kind of filthy work has replaced the designs that originally belonged to Nexus Innovations."
Todd understood the implication but pretended not to. "Then it's settled. Mr. Knight, being a prominent figure, the organizers originally wanted to invite you, but considering your recent loss in the acquisition, they didn't want to offend you. So I came, daring to ask if you will attend alone or with Mrs. Knight. I need to inform the organizers."
"I'll be attending with my wife," Alaric replied.
"Okay, I understand. Mr. Knight, since you're busy, I'll be leaving." Todd then left.
After leaving Nexus Innovations, Todd was so pleased he could barely contain his grin. Once in the car, he couldn't help but boast, "I'm increasingly convinced that Alaric is all talk. How do you fellows all see it?"
He directed this at Ambrose and Bill. "Why does everyone praise him to the skies? To me, he's a pushover. Arizona is about to change hands soon."
"Todd, the acquisition just succeeded, don't get carried away," Bill immediately reminded him.
"Don't worry, Bill, I know. I won't get too cocky." Todd was already grinning ear to ear.
He went on, "Ambrose, you've done well this time. You can continue taking developer jobs in Arizona. Compared to Alaric, we're still on the same team. We need to quickly grow strong in Arizona and change its hands completely!" "Thank you, Todd," Ambrose replied.
"Alaric will attend the jewelry exhibition with Stellan. I'll get to feast my eyes again. I can't get her face out of my mind. She's so beautiful, and I can't wait to have a taste."
Ambrose's eyes darkened, filled with a murderous aura. He certainly wanted to grow strong in Arizona, but only for himself, not with Todd!
