Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 245 They're Colluding Again
Ambrose and Marigold met at a café known for its calm and classy vibe.
Marigold sat down and got straight to the point, "I heard Alaric's warned you about Stellan multiple times, but you still can't let her go and even dared to meet me. You've got guts." Ambrose replied, "I want to give up, but I can't. Even if it's hopeless, I have to try."
Marigold, both angry and jealous, snapped, "I never received such love and care as Stellan does. Did she put a spell on you all?"
She couldn't understand why these men were so obsessed with Stellan.
"Talking about this will just make you mad, so stop it," Ambrose said. "I asked to meet you because I have something important to tell you."
"Then spit it out!" Marigold urged.
"Do you know about the Storm family's bankruptcy seven years ago?"
"Of course!" Marigold said impatiently. "If I didn't, how would I have found Stellan to bear kids for the Knight family?"
"Right, you know about the bankruptcy. And Brennan's suicide."
Marigold pressed, "What's your point? I don't care about the Storm family."
"You might not, but Alaric does," Ambrose said. "Stellan thinks the bankruptcy was a setup and her dad was murdered. She wants the truth but has no power, so..." "So she asked Alaric for help?" Marigold was livid.
"Exactly," Ambrose continued. "I know a bit about the truth. The Storm family was powerful, like the Knight family now. Bringing them down took serious forces."
"Mr. Knight's health is poor. Even managing Nexus Innovations is tough for him, and now he's helping Stellan investigate. It's mentally and physically draining."
"Alaric's insane!" Marigold fumed. "He was in a coma for three years from severe injuries. Finally, he left the military, and now he wants to risk his life again? Is he trying to ruin himself and the Knight family?"
Marigold was furious, wanting to lash out at Stellan and slap some sense into Alaric.
"Mrs. Knight, calm down. I'm not done," Ambrose said. "Do you know why Mr. Knight went out of town with Stellan? To help her investigate the Storm family's case."
Marigold was about to explode with rage.
"Damn it!" She grabbed her phone, hands shaking, ready to call Alaric. "I'll make him come back right now!"
Just as Marigold was about to call Alaric, Ambrose stopped her. "They're on a plane, Mrs. Knight. You can't reach them. Even if you could, you know Alaric. The more you push, the more he'll resist. Confronting him will only make things worse." Marigold knew he was right. The more she told Alaric not to do something, the more determined he became to do so.
"So, what do you suggest?" Marigold asked, genuinely worried. "I only have one son. If something happens to Alaric, I'll die too. He's completely under Stellan's spell, not caring about me at all. Ever since he joined the military, I've been on edge. I've just got better during thhese past few years."
She was too upset to continue, feeling like her years of worry were never-ending.
Ambrose tried to comfort her. "Mrs. Knight, I get it. But you don't need to worry too much. As I said, I know a bit about the situation. This trip will be a waste of time for them; they won't find anything."
"It's an old case, and investigating it isn't easy. We can work together long-term. If we can keep them apart during this time, it's a win-win."
Marigold felt a bit more at ease. "Are you sure?"
"Of course," Ambrose assured. "I don't have a solid plan yet, but if we work together, we'll come up with something."
Marigold was still unsure.
"Mrs. Knight, we have the same goal and no grudges. Even if this cooperation doesn't work out, you won't lose anything." That made sense.
Marigold snorted, "I've never liked Stellan. She married Alaric for money and now pushes him into danger, which is unforgivable!"
"I can't accept Stellan. So we can cooperate. If you can find a way to separate them, I'll do whatever you need."
"Good. With your promise, I'm relieved," Ambrose smiled. "Let's stay in touch."
"Alright." Before leaving, Marigold asked again, "Are you really sure they won't find anything this time?"
If they did, Alaric would definitely keep investigating, and she wouldn't be able to stop him.
"Don't worry. I'm sure."
Marigold nodded. "That's good."
Watching her leave, Ambrose smiled smugly. Let Alaric and Stellan struggle all they want. They couldn't uncover the truth about the Storm family's bankruptcy without going through him. By this time, the plane had landed, and Alaric and Stellan checked into their hotel. Once in the room, Alaric picked Stellan up and carried her to the bed.
"It's late. Get some rest. Tomorrow, I'll take you to see him."
"Okay." Stellan wrapped her arms around Alaric's neck and kissed him. "Thank you."
"If you think I'm working hard, saying it isn't enough. How about a little reward?"
Stellan sighed. "We just got to the hotel, and you're already in the mood?"
