Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 131 Do a DNA Test Again
Although Mrs. Marigold wasn't speaking on the other line, her expression couldn't be seen at this moment. However, Alaric could clearly hear her troubled breathing. He pressed on, "Do you really have no reason?"
It left her speechless, and he found her hesitation quite amusing.
"Hmph," he chuckled, firmly stating, "If you were to tell me that Caspian wasn't Orion's son but had another birth mother, I might believe it. However, saying he's not my son is absolutely impossible!"
Mrs. Marigold was confused by Alaric's certainty and asked, "Didn't you refuse doing a paternity test with the boy? How can you be so sure he's your biological son? What if he isn't?"
"A psychological connection between father and son is enough; no need for any tests."
Mrs. Marigold's reaction just now had already exposed her completely.
"Mom, I was asleep for three years. When I woke up, I had a son. You told me that Orion gave birth to him, and I never doubted it all these years. However, why are you doubting it now? What exactly did you hide from me about that time?" Once again, she was at a loss for words.
"Caspian's birth wasn't my decision; he was there when I woke up. I believe that if he wasn't the Knight family's heir, you definitely wouldn't keep him. So, there must be an unavoidable reason you had to keep him. However, since you kept him and he grew up under your watchful eyes, don't you have any sort of emotion with him?" Alaric asked.
Mrs. Marigold was tongue-tied. She wasn't completely heartless, and if Caspian were just a child who grew up by her side, maybe she would've liked him. However, every time she saw him, she'd think of that damn Stellan and would feel hatred.
"Mom, Caspian is my biological son. You don't have to doubt it. If you really don't like him, I won't force you. However, if you ever hurt him with malicious words again, I'll never forgive you!" After saying that, Alaric directly ended the call. When he did that, Mrs. Marigold was in a spur of confusion. Why was Alaric so certain Caspian was his biological son?
Was there really a psychological connection between father and son? Was that real?
After all, what she saw back then was a DNA report that clearly stated they weren't blood-related!
"Rook! Rook!" Suddenly realizing this, Mrs. Marigold hurriedly called for Rook.
Even after all these years, Rook was still by her side, albeit a little older with memory and actions that were no longer as sharp as before.
"What's the matter, Mrs. Marigold?"
"Is the DNA test report that Alaric and Caspian did still available?"
"Didn't you tear it angrily at that time?" Although his memory wasn't as good as before, he still remembered this.
"Did I?"
"Yes, you did. You said that it infuriated you."
Mrs. Marigold thought for a while before asking him, "Do you think Caspian looks like Alaric?"
"Yes, they really look alike."
Purely based on looks, they do look quite similar, however... the scientific facts didn't match up!
"Do you think DNA tests could have errors?"
He replied, "How can it be wrong? It's not like it's done by humans; it's all machine-testing. What's wrong, Mrs. Marigold? Why are you suddenly asking about this?"
"Why? I called Caspian a bastard, and that brat actually went and complained to Alaric, which made Alaric angry at me."
"You can't blame him for that. Caspian was raised by the Young Master Alaric since he was young, so they both have similar personalities; cold and antisocial. Mrs. Orion isn't on good terms with Caspian, and you didn't visit him often after his birth, either. Caspian and Young Master Alaric have been relying on each other for so many years; if suddenly told that he's not Caspian's biological father, I'm afraid Young Master Alaric wouldn't be able to handle it." Rook said slowly. Of course, Mrs. Marigold understood this. She sighed deeply, "What a disaster! If I had known Alaric would wake up, I wouldn't have gone through so much trouble to find a woman to give him an heir."
"It's not your fault. After all, he had been comatose for two years at that time, and nobody knew if he'd wake up. You were also thinking about the Knight family's succession."
"The result was just too impatient, and I was fooled by that bitch."
Hearing this, Rook wanted to say something, but he held back. Seeing his hesitant expression, Mrs. Marigold said, "Say whatever you want."
"Yes," he said, "I just think that Ms. Stellan was obedient. I can't understand when she was already at her wit's end and only agreed to have a child for Mr. Alaric to repay her debts. Why would she lie to you about the baby?" "Who knows? Maybe she got pregnant with someone else's and took the opportunity to deceive me when I asked her to have Alaric's child." Mrs. Marigold said.
"That's not right. Didn't you have the doctor do a full body check on her before she underwent artificial insemination? If she was already pregnant at that time, how could it not be detected?" Rook replied. Indeed, she wanted to ensure the child's genetic makeup, which is why she chose Stellan because of her good background, high attractiveness, and education.
Stellan had underwent a thorough body check before conception, and there were no issues, which is why she went on with Alaric's artificial insemination.
"I handled the procedure in every step, and even now, I don't know where the problem is. As you've mentioned, DNA results can't be incorrect. So, what went wrong?" Mrs. Marigold questioned.
She couldn't figure out where the problem was. However, the results were right there, and she went mad with anger when she saw the confirmation!
She felt like she had been fooled. At that moment, she hated Stellan so much that she wanted to punish her.
"Should we have Caspian and Young Master Alaric repeat the paternity test?" Rook suggested.
"Is it necessary? Can the machine's test be wrong?"
"It's not necessary, but didn't you want to tell Young Master Alaric about this matter? Since you tore up the previous test results, your words will carry no weight now. The Young Master Alaric won't believe you unless another DNA test is done," he said.
"Yes, you're right. Let's do it!" she firmly agreed.
