Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 130 I Will Never Forgive You If You Hurt Him Again
After hearing Mrs. Marigold's words, Cormac fell silent. He realized that speaking up for Galatea would only bring her more harm. "Mrs. Marigold, you're right; I was wrong," Cormac had no choice but to comply. "I'll keep an eye on Alaric, so you don't have to worry."
Mrs. Marigold sighed. She was now worried about Alaric's health, but even more concerned about how she'd tell him about Caspian's origins. "Cormac, has your father said anything to you recently?"
Cormac was a close friend of Alaric, so if Griffon told him about Caspian's origins, he'd certainly pass the information to Alaric. That would leave Marigold in a passive position.
"Mrs. Marigold, you know well enough about our relationship. We barely talk on a regular basis; he wouldn't tell me anything." Cormac replied.
"Is your relationship still so strained after all these years?"
Cormac could only awkwardly smile without saying a word.
"On this matter, I must speak for your father. As parents, we all want our children to have a good life. However, you're too young to understand love and emotions. Moreover, you come from a noble and wealthy family. Unless you find someone from a similar background, those from lower classes are simply after your money. Such women should only be avoided."
The two surprisingly agreed on this point. Cormac wondered what kind of life their children would have if they were a couple.
"Mrs. Marigold, I understand what you mean, so... I'm just asking out of curiosity." Cormac took the opportunity to probe, "If Alaric insisted on marrying Galatea, what would you..."
"He wouldn't dare!" she was furious upon hearing this. "Unless he disowns me as his mother, I'd never allow that kind of woman into our family."
Cormac felt sorry for Alaric, praying that Galatea wouldn't end up like his unfortunate girlfriend.
Galatea slept for a long time and was particularly deep asleep. Not only was she deep in slumber, but she also had a beautiful dream.
She dreamt of their wedding before, but she was arrested by the police and forced to wake up from the nightmare. This time, her dream was exceptionally blissful.
At the end of it, they kissed each other, and she couldn't help but smile. As she kept smiling, she actually woke up laughing.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Alaric observing her closely. After all, she was lying in his arms, which left her embarrassed. "Awake?" he asked gently.
"Yeah," she nodded and felt saliva hanging from the corner of her mouth. She hurriedly wiped it off and said embarrassedly, "Sorry."
He smiled affectionately and asked, "You were laughing just now. Did you have a nice dream?"
If she told him that she dreamt of them getting married, wouldn't he make fun of her?
"Not at all," Galatea looked outside and realized it was almost dark. She quickly asked, "Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?"
"I want to eat the noodles you cook. They were really delicious."
It was just a bowl of plain noodles. Was it really that delicious?
"Then I'll buy some and cook them for you." The hospital room had a kitchen, so Galatea could buy ingredients and cook for him.
"It's my fault; I should've bought you a car a long time ago. What kind of model do you like? I'll buy it for you."
"No, please don't!" she hurriedly said, "We haven't formalized our relationship yet, and your mom is back. I'm already anxious about living in the house you arranged; if you buy me a car, wouldn't she blame me?" "Moreover, I actually have money to buy a car, but I find it unnecessary. I don't need one in my daily life, since taking public transport or a taxi is more convenient."
"You're my fiancée. Spending my money is a small matter."
Galatea said, "That's your thought, but your mom won't think the same. I don't want to be a sinner. Alright, I'm going out to buy noodles. I'll be back soon."
After that, she walked out, and Alaric watched her leave before looking away after a while.
She was right. He thought it was natural to spend money on his lover, but Mrs. Marigold wouldn't agree. He was still angry when he thought about her, so he took out his phone and called her.
"Hello, Alaric," Mrs. Marigold answered, "I went to the hospital to see you today. However, your door was locked and you were asleep, so I didn't disturb you."
Did Mrs. Marigold come when he was sleeping with Galatea? It was a good thing she didn't see them. Otherwise, she would've exploded on the spot.
"Mom, I'm already fine in the hospital. You can relax and don't need to come often." he went straight to the point, "Also, I'm calling you over Caspian's matter." "Caspian?" Mrs. Marigold immediately felt guilty when she heard this. Did he already know?
"What's the matter with Caspian?"
"How can you treat him like that? You ignored him when he was young, and I didn't say anything then. However, calling him a bastard is excessive. He's just a child, and he's also your grandson. How could you say those words?" When she realized this wasn't about Caspian's background, she immediately calmed down. However, her anger soon resurfaced.
"Did that brat whine to you? Such a young child already knows how to tattle!"
"Mom, instead of reflecting on the harm you've done, you blame him for telling on you. You're so unreasonable!"
"Alaric, how dare you speak to me like that? I am your mother!"
"I know you are, and I know your care and love for me. However, I really don't understand why you treat Caspian so poorly. He's just your grandson!"
The more Alaric spoke, the angrier he was. In this family, he was the only one who treated Caspian well, while the rest of his relatives didn't care at all. When he finished speaking, Mrs. Marigold felt a sense of guilt.
Alaric was a particularly judgmental person, but considering Caspian's background, he had never once doubted her words in all these years.
His unwavering trust made it even harder for her to find the right thing to say.
"I... I just don't like him." Even now while on the phone, Mrs. Marigold was still unsure of what to say. It felt like she was just making excuses to dismiss the matter. However, Alaric wouldn't give up and continued asking, "Caspian is so well-behaved and talented. Why don't you like him?" "There's no reason; I just don't!"
"I can't understand how you can dislike him for no reason. Isn't he your grandson?"
When Alaric asked this, she Marigold completely panicked. She felt guilty and had no idea whether he was saying it offhandedly, or if he already knew something!
