Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 129 I Can Only Sleep When Holding You
After Ambrose left, Alaric and Galatea smiled at each other.
"Are you happy now?" Galatea asked.
"Aren't you the one who should be happier?" Alaric replied. "The best way to get back at an ex is to live a better life than them. Moreover, you're now his benefactor's lover. Isn't that even more satisfying?" "Seems like it. In that case, I should thank you," she said.
"No need for that," he replied.
She sneered at him. This man had really changed; he was no longer as uptight and annoying as before. "Come up to the bed," he said.
"That's impossible," Galatea said. "You're a patient now, and we're in a hospital. Why would I do that?"
"I want to sleep holding you," he explained. "To be honest, ever since we fought, I've had trouble sleeping for a long time. If it weren't for falling into a coma, I probably wouldn't have had a minute of sleep." He couldn't sleep ever since they fought?
Galatea replied, "If you can't sleep, then keep trying to find a solution. I'm not your sleeping pill."
"You are, so come here!"
"But we're in a hospital!"
"I know, don't worry. It's a private ward, so the door automatically locks when it's closed. Even if a doctor comes in, they'd have to knock and get my permission. Hurry up; I can't sleep without holding you."
He can't sleep without hugging her?
Alaric once again gave Galatea a meaningful look, so she had no choice but to comply. She climbed onto the bed.
When she did, he hugged her. It was the first time she lay in his embrace, and it felt really comfortable.
"Alright, you got your hug. Now sleep," she said.
"Mhm." Alaric softly replied, closing his eyes.
She neither moved nor made a sound, afraid of disturbing him. After a while, he fell asleep.
She stared at him. Did he already asleep?
Every time they were together, he seemed to sleep especially quick. She thought he was just bluffing, but did he really sleep faster with her around? What was the principle behind this? She wasn't a sleeping pill! Galatea continued to watch him closely. Strangely enough, some men were undeniably handsome at first sight, but Alaric seemed to become more attractive after becoming friends.
She observed him for a while, then took out her phone and opened the post. Nobody had replied, and the last comment was still the photo of Mrs. Marigold at the airport.
"This demeanor definitely belongs to someone important. You can ask my daddy; he definitely knows her." Suddenly, Caspian's words echoed in her mind. She looked at Alaric, uncertain if he really knew the person. She planned to ask him after he fully recovered.
Putting down her phone, she yawned and closed her eyes, quickly falling asleep in Alaric's embrace.
On the other hand, Mrs. Marigold had just walked out of the hospital elevator, each of her steps particularly slow. She didn't know how to tell Alaric about Caspian's birth; if he knew he had been deceived for six years, he'd surely be furious.
Moreover, it was highly possible that the media would make the Knights a laughingstock. What should she do then?
She had already arrived at Alaric's ward door, but found it locked from the inside. She knocked, but there was no response. Looking through the glass, she couldn't see anything because the curtain around the bed was drawn. She instructed the nurse, "Open this door."
"What's your relationship with the patient? Mr. Alaric has instructed that during his rest time, nobody's allowed in without his permission..."
"I'm his mother. Don't I have the right to enter?" Mrs. Marigold replied angrily.
"Please wait, I'll go get the key for you," the nurse hurriedly said.
The nurse went to fetch the key, while Mrs. Marigold was already frustrated and now even more. How should she tell Alaric about this matter? This problem was really vexing.
"Mrs. Marigold?" Just then, Cormac's voice came from behind.
He had just come from home, and Mrs. Nash was feeling better now. He knew Galatea was with Alaric at the hospital.
He wanted to visit Alaric and ask Galatea about suitable supplements for Mrs. Nash. Unexpectedly, he ran into Mrs. Marigold.
"Cormac?" she asked.
"Yes," he replied. "Why are you standing at the door?" "It's locked," she said.
He peered inside, seeing the drawn curtains. He instantly understood that Alaric was probably sleeping with Galatea; that was his style, after all.
If Mrs. Marigold saw them asleep together, she'd explode on the spot.
"Here's the key," the nurse appeared and said, about to open the door. However, Cormac hurriedly took the key and smiled at Mrs. Marigold. "Mrs. Marigold, you know that Alaric has been suffering from insomnia lately. Now, he finally managed to get some sleep. We'd better not disturb him."
"Did his insomnia act up again?"
Mrs. Marigold was well-aware of Alaric's recurring insomnia.
"Yes, and Dr. Galatea is treating him. Her treatment seems very effective; otherwise, he wouldn't be sleeping so soundly now."
Mrs. Marigold thought of something and said, "Alright, let him sleep then."
"Yes," Cormac hurriedly assisted her and continued, "Mrs. Marigold, the hospital isn't a good place. It's full of bacteria. There are professional doctors and nurses here, so you don't have to come here all the time." "How can a mother rest assured when her son is sick?"
"Yes, of course."
"You mentioned Galatea just now. Actually, I'm curious to hear your opinion on her," Mrs. Marigold asked.
"Oh, she's a very good person. She's beautiful, kind, and skilled in medicine; flawless, to say the least."
"I didn't expect you to praise her so much. She seduced Alaric. If it weren't for her, he wouldn't have given up on your sister. Why are you defending her like this?" she questioned.
"Mrs. Marigold, what you just said is inappropriate. As far as I know, it was Alaric who took the initiative."
"Alaric did?" she found it hard to believe. "I'm his mother, and I know my son well. If that seductive woman hadn't allured him, would he have taken the initiative? It's unbelievable how cunning she is. Not only did she seduce my son, but she also made you speak highly of her!"
