Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 123 Alaric's Sudden Gentle Side

Alaric held Galatea like a child on his lap, their posture intimate.

Seeing this, Ambrose clenched his fists, trembling. If possible, he really wanted to punch Alaric in the face.

This man couldn't protect her at all, letting her cry so sadly and struggle to find loans while enduring hardships in this clinic. Moreover, his mother even humiliated Galatea. How did he have the rights to embrace her? What qualifications did he have? And what about Stellan? Why wasn't she refusing?

Galatea wanted to refuse, but her heart wasn't in control in this situation, resembling a startled deer.

"Are you worried I'll die?" she hadn't answered, but Alaric already knew the answer from her eyes.

"Not at all." she avoided his gaze and deliberately said, "Your death has nothing to do with me."

"Then why were you so worried just now?" "I..."

"What a liar!" After Alaric said this, he started coughing. Galatea quickly patted his back while asking, "Where do you feel uncomfortable now?" However, he remained silent.

"You didn't stay in the hospital properly. Why did you leave?" she asked. Which hospital are you staying in now? I'll take you back." "I'm not going back."

"Alaric, you're not a child. Can you be more considerate?" Galatea said, "If you're sick, you have to stay in the hospital and see a doctor!" "Aren't you one?" he retorted, "Moreover, you're an expert in treating my condition."

His words left Galatea speechless.

"Did you block me?" he continued.

"Ah? This..." she indeed blocked him, but she couldn't be honest. If she did, Alaric wouldn't forgive her.

"Block you? How's that possible?" she feigned ignorance, taking her phone out to sneak a peek. She continued to act innocent and said, "Oh, how did you get on the blocklist? It must've been an accident... Yes, an accident."

When Galatea said this, Alaric took her phone. He removed his number from the blocklist before handing it back to her.

"Don't be so careless again; I couldn't find you at a crucial time."

Hearing this, Galatea looked at him with great astonishment. He could easily see through such a poor lie; in the past, he surely would've been furious and scolded her something like, "You damn woman, how dare you block me?! If it happens again, I'll punish you!"

That was how he used to react. Why wasn't he blaming her now, and instead being so gentle?

His sudden tenderness left her extremely uncomfortable.

"Is this the shop you rented for your clinic?" Alaric finally took a glance around.

"Yes. It's still renovating, so it's especially dirty and messy."

"It's not that bad. For a construction site, it's pretty clean."

Speaking of this, it made Alaric think of Ambrose. Even the construction site in the entertainment city was that clean.

Did they have similar habits in this regard?

"Have you eaten?" he looked at the time. It was lunchtime.

"Not yet. Have you?" she looked at his current condition, feeling upset.

Although he quickly recovered after his episode at the hotel last time, he had never looked so worn out.

"No," he replied.

"Why aren't you in the hospital? Why did you suddenly come here?" Galatea was furious. "You can't eat recklessly in your current state, and I can't cook for you in this messy place."

Alaric should be getting good nourishment, and he shouldn't be eating outside. Even if she cooked, the conditions here had limited conditions.

"Then what do you usually eat?" Alaric asked.

"Sometimes I buy takeout or just make instant noodles here."

Alaric took a glance, indeed seeing a small kitchen Galatea had temporarily made with some simple appliances in the corner.

"Then just make instant noodles. I don't have an appetite for anything else right now."

"Are you going to that here?" she asked.

"Then where else?"

She stood there, shocked that a high-level executive like Alaric wanted to eat instant noodles with her.

"I'm hungry," he said when he noticed she hadn't moved for a while.

"Oh," she quickly responded, "Wait a moment. I'm on my way."

Galatea hurried off to cook the noodles while Alaric watched her. He was angry before seeing her, but now all of it had dissipated. In that moment when he thought he'd die, all he could think about was her. Perhaps Cormac was right; he shouldn't have been so harsh with her, treated her like a subordinate, and ordered her around. Maybe a different approach was better.

He continued watching her, who was focused on cooking. Soon, she had two bowls of noodles ready.

"There aren't many ingredients here, so this is all I could make," Galatea said.

"It's perfect," Alaric replied, picking up his bowl. He was starving now.

Perhaps it was his hunger or his good mood, but these noodles tasted better than any gourmet dish he ever ate.

Galatea was dazed. This man was usually cold and scolding her, so she wasn't used to his sudden change.

Did he take the wrong medicine, or...?

"What happened before was my fault. I'm sorry," Alaric said while Galatea was lost in her thoughts.

"Huh? What did you say?" she was distracted, not believing what she just heard.

"I said, the way I handled things last time was wrong. I apologize."

Was he apologizing to her?

"You... Why are you suddenly...? I'm not used to this."

Seeing her confused look, Alaric smiled. She looked so cute like this.

"If you're not mad from it, then I'll take it as you've forgiven me," he said. "Let's not mention what happened last time anymore, and I won't ask about your past. The past is gone." Galatea was once again stunned, reaching out and placing her hand on his forehead.

"You don't have a fever, so why are you suddenly acting like a different person? Did something happen to you?" Galatea leaned in close to him. Alaric took the opportunity and kissed her, stopping her from saying anything else.
