Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 118 Harry VS Mrs. Marigold
Harry had only heard about Caspian's Grandmother from other people. Although he had pretended to be Caspian for a while, this was the first time he was meeting her. Thus, he wanted to see her properly.
With his backpack on his shoulder, he walked into the hall and immediately saw Mrs. Marigold sitting in the middle of the sofa, looking fierce and intimidating.
Judging by her appearance, he knew she couldn't be messed with.
"Grandmother!" He politely greeted her, giving his backpack to the servant before sitting on the sofa himself.
Mrs. Marigold allowed him to stay solely out of superstition, believing that the fortune teller's prediction about him being the Knights' lucky star was true. However, at the same time, she thought Caspian wasn't Alaric's true son, so she didn't like him. She even blamed Caspian for Stellan's 'deception'.
"Aunt Lindsay, is dinner ready? I'm really hungry." Harry was genuinely hungry and looked at Aunt Lindsay as he asked.
But as soon as he said that, he noticed Aunt Lindsay's panicked expression. She quickly gestured at him, which he understood but pretended not to.
Mrs. Marigold sternly asked him, "What did you just call her?"
"Aunt Lindsay. What's the problem?" Harry asked calmly.
"Aunt Lindsay?" Her expression turned even more menacing as she scolded, "You're the young master of this house, and she's a mere servant. How dare you call her that?"
"Well, what else should I call her?" he feigned confusion and shrugged. "She's already at that age, so shouldn't I call her Aunt Lindsay?"
"You...!" His words truly angered Mrs. Marigold.
Previously, Caspian rarely spoke and would respond or agree to whatever she said, never answering back.
"I've only been gone for a few days. How did you all teach the young master?" she directly scolded the servants, "Look at him now, speaking arrogantly and disrespectfully. He's completely ignorant of hierarchy and lacks proper etiquette. It's simply audacious!"
After that, the servants were so scared that they almost kneeled to apologize, not even daring to breathe heavily. Harry nearly felt like he had traveled back to an ancient monarchy period. "Parents are their children's first teachers. If I haven't been taught well, shouldn't you first call my irresponsible mother here to scold her? Why are you getting angry at them?" Harry replied. "Caspian!" Mrs. Marigold exploded. "Who do you think you're talking to? I'm your grandmother; watch your attitude!"
"Are you my biological one?" Harry asked directly.
His question caught her off guard. How dare this little brat ask such a question?
She retorted angrily, "What did you just say? Say it again!"
"I said, I doubt you're my biological grandmother. If you were, you would've been concerned when I said I was hungry and immediately ensured I had something to eat instead of scolding me here."
Harry wouldn't yield to this unreasonable old lady. He continued, "Also, my teacher said that everyone is born equal, with no distinction of status. I called Aunt Lindsay out of courtesy and respect, and there's nothing improper about it. If you have a problem with it, then that's on you."
"You disrespectful little brat!" she shouted, standing up as if she was about to hit him.
"Grandmother, are you trying to hit me? That'd be domestic violence and child abuse. You can be held legally responsible, you know?"
In all these years, nobody had ever dared to confront her like this; not even when Alaric's father was alive.
"Grandmother, getting angry is bad for your health. Moreover, you're getting old. Why are you arguing with a child like me?" Harry said, walking toward the dining room. "I'm going to have my meal now."
He arrived at the dining room, and the servants hastily avoided him in fear of getting caught in the crossfire if Mrs. Marigold lost her temper.
Mrs. Marigold was infuriated this time. She never expected this little brat to provoke her today.
She watched him eat, feeling a surge of hatred while thinking of Stellan. That woman had fooled her back then, and she despised her to the core.
That woman already got her retribution, but this little brat had been favored and lived like a young master since childhood!
"Without waiting for your elders' words, you just started eating on your own. Since you completely lack any manners, you aren't allowed to eat anymore!"
Although she was superstitious and was afraid that driving him away would affect the Knight family's fortune, seeing him made her annoyed, especially when she saw how well he was doing.
Hearing this, Harry put down his chopsticks. He had already eaten enough anyway. He stared straight at Mrs. Marigold and asked, "Grandmother, do you particularly dislike me?"
"How could I like a stubborn child?"
"I, Caspian, am a young genius with a high IQ, unbeatable looks, exceptional academics, and courteous mannerisms. I was disciplined at home and dedicated myself to reading and studying. Moreover, the teachers and classmates at school always praise me. I even have hacking skills and easily became the world's best mathematician. I'm not exaggerating; I'm just the highest quality of an offspring, the kind of child that parents talk about with other families. If you still aren't satisfied with such an outstanding grandson, then it must be your problem."
After praising Caspian, Harry still felt uneasy and ended up doing all this for nothing.
"Grandma, my uncle is a psychiatrist. I suggest you see him. After all, you only focus on finding faults and never see the good in others. Being angry and never being satisfied is also a kind of illness, you know?" Mrs. Marigold was baffled.
"Moreover, I'm the only child of the Knights, and I'm so excellent. Considering our close relationship, you should cherish me in every aspect. However, not only do you not cherish me, but you even despise me. Beside the fact that you have psychological issues, the only explanation left is that I'm not your biological grandchild. Speaking of which, my dad and I are blood-related, so if I'm not related to you, then..."
"You little brat, what are you yapping? Do you think I wouldn't tear your mouth apart?"
"You're such a fierce person, so it's obvious you will. However, what I said is true," Harry stood up and said, "Okay, if you won't let me eat, then I'll go back to the study and do my homework."
After that, he picked up his backpack and went upstairs nonchalantly. Mrs. Marigold was furious, shivering from anger.
Seeing her like this, he was quite pleased. He returned to the study, locked the door, and called Caspian.
"Caspian, I need to tell you something. Your grandma's back."
"Grandma's back?" Caspian was surprised and then asked, "Are you okay?"
"You should ask her that; I think I'm driving her to death," Harry replied.
"Ah?"
Harry ranted madly, "Hmm, now I understand why your grandma and your mom are such a pair of weirdos."
He had successfully infuriated his grandmother. Although he shouldn't be laughing, he still felt satisfied.
"By the way, is this your first time meeting her?" Caspian suddenly remembered the portrait and asked.
"Of course. Where would I have met her before?"
Caspian asked again, "My mom has a picture of her in her bag, and she even asked me to use my hacking skills to help her find my grandmother. Have you seen the painting?"
