Chapter 1591:

Regaining her composure, Nicole quickly declined. “No, thank you. “I won’t be preparing a file for now.”
The doctor, understanding but firm, advised her: “Regular prenatal checkups are vital to ensure the health of the baby.”
Nicole had never imagined the possibility of another child in her life and was overwhelmed by the news. “I understand,” she murmured.
She stood up to leave and the doctor gently reminded her: “Talk to your husband about this. Even if he doesn’t visit our hospital, look for one nearby so you don’t miss any check-ups.”
As she left, still in shock, Nicole stopped at the door and turned to ask, “Sir, is it possible to terminate a pregnancy?”
The doctor, puzzled, asked: "Do you have other children?"
“I have one,” Nicole replied.
Surprised, the doctor said, “This is only the second one. Why are you considering not having it?”
Looking at Nicole, who seemed quite capable of supporting a child, the doctor would normally refrain from influencing life decisions unless the patient was already expecting a child. Before discussing the possibility of terminating the pregnancy, he had to know the person's circumstances.
Nicole's expression reflected her confusion. "I'm not ready to have another child right now."
Seeing her determination, the doctor commented, “If you are sure, consider a medical abortion soon, before the 10th of next month. From then on, you will need an induced abortion, which may be harder on your body.” With a soft sigh, the doctor added, “You are quite striking, and your child would surely be as well. Please take your time to think this decision through.”
Nicole gratefully acknowledged. “Thank you. “I’ll think about it.”
After leaving the office, Nicole plopped down on a nearby bench, overwhelmed by the irony of her situation, pregnant again with Jarrod's child. She felt as if fate was conspiring against her happiness.
She was deep in thought when a familiar voice started her. “Nicole?”
Looking up, Nicole saw Roscoe approaching.
“What are you doing here? Are you okay?” Roscoe asked, noticing her distress.
Nicole fumbled with her test results, hiding them behind her back. “Just some stomach problems.”
“Have you had it checked?” Roscoe asked, worried. “Do you want me to check the results?”
“No need,” Nicole replied, quickly putting the reports into her bag. “It's nothing serious. Don’t worry.”
She didn't want to add to Roscoe's burden, as he was just beginning to stabilize his life. Hiding her concern with a smile, she changed the subject. "Do you have the results of that pill?"
“Yes,” Roscoe replied. “It is a rare and valuable herb that is effective for recovery. But for Austin, it should only be used after his transplant surgery to fully benefit from it.”
Nicole felt a pang of disappointment. She had hoped for a more immediate solution. However, she could not underestimate the importance of the pill. It was crucial to the survival of her unborn child.
Nicole recalled Jarrod's information about finding a foreign donor who was terminally ill, which meant that time was limited. Austin's operation was imminent, a fact that gave her a slight sense of relief knowing about Jarrod's efforts to find a donor for Austin.
For now, Nicole's main concern was maintaining a presence in Austin's life, not necessarily regaining full custody. Austin was fragile, and his sudden absence could damage his psyche. She and Jarrod had endured much suffering, and she wanted to protect Austin from similar pain.
